Mike, the owner is a great guy. He is very nice and makes food as fast as anybody can. The calzones are all delicious and the bread part is on point. Can’t go wrong with the make your own or choosing a specific one. The chicken shawarma is great.

My son’s «Go To» for a good hot meal. Chicken Parmesan Calzone!!! In between the Brown Double Header called ahead and picked up 8 Calzones for the family. Hot & ready when I arrived and the entire family enjoyed them back at Murray Stadium

My boyfriend took me here at around 10:30PM on a Tuesday. I was floored. He ordered the bbq chicken calzone which was huge for the price. I ordered the chicken shwarma wrap and fries for us to share. The fries weren’t like regular fries, as if they were coated in flour before frying. Nonetheless, they still tasted AWESOME. But the wrap… literally phenomenal. I ordered everything on it, but the menu didn’t mention the onions, banana peppers, lettuce, pickles and tomato that comes on it. Just a heads up if you’re not into those. Even if you’re not, this will convert you. As a plus, the place looks super clean and the staff is SUPER friendly and quick.

The food here is amazing and the owner, Mike, is one of the most hard-working business owners I think I’ve ever met. The entire staff is friendly, helpful and damn, do they know how to cook. The chicken shawarma wrap is so mouth-watering good. The calzones are the best I’ve ever had. The only reason me and my husband don’t eat here more often is because we’re both trying to watch our waistlines. If calories were a myth, I would eat here every day for lunch.

If I were a Brown student, I would undoubtedly eat here about five times a week and grow to the size of a small sumo wrestler. Places like Mike’s are to blame for the Freshmen Fifteen(er, rather, Fifty). As someone who doesn’t even like shawarma(compared to other types of food, I find it just«meh»), I loooooved the chicken shawarma at Mike’s. The meat was smoky and savory; the pita was crispy(the server making my shawarma wrapped up the whole thing and stuck it into the rotisserie fire for a solid three seconds). My mouth exploded with diverse, rich flavor every time I took a bite. Mmmmm. The servers were very gracious as well and offered to rewrap my shawarma because I couldn’t finish it(they’re massive and so, so cheap) and wanted to take it home.

Mike’s Calzone is my favorite go-to spot when I need to grab something during lunch time. The chicken shawarma is delicious and full of flavor. Pair that with the tahini sauce and it’s amazing. Wraps are awesome and the salad is filling. The staff is friendly and attentive. Get fries in your wrap!

My go-to for lunch on Thayer St. I really enjoy their calzones as well as their shawarma wrap. Mike is legit! Get the shawarma! They should make a shawarma plate with rice. I would eat that everyday.

Great place for a quick bite. I come here regularly and the food is consistently great. Staff is friendly and professional. I recommend the buffalo grilled chicken wheat wrap if you want to keep it on the healthier side.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the area. There are so many menu choices. Everything is customizable. The food is delicious and comes out pretty quick considering how busy it gets in there. Mike the owner and his wife go above and beyond to make your experience top notch. They are the hardest working people I’ve ever seen. This place is very busy with all the foot traffic and colleges in the area and they handle the work load with ease. You can tell there is a lot of experience between the two of them and their entire team. Great place. Great food. Great customer service. I go to this place at least once or twice a week.

I always have a hard time choosing between the calzones, gyro or chicken shawarma! Went with the gyro this time and was very satisfied as always! Mike always comes out to make sure you’re satisfied with your order and to let him know if he can fix anything! 1 order of fries is enough to feed two! BESTGYROSINTOWN

Mike’s Calzones is seriously THEBEST on Thayer Street! Mid day, late night, ANYTIME! Mike, the owner works like crazy to keep his customers happy. He works 12+ hour days at his own place and still makes time to be friendly and talkative. My friend Amanda and I go in a couple times a week and he always has a smile on his face no matter what. He ever remembers our usual order! Don’t miss this place! The calzones are made fresh from scratch and can be customized. Go see Mike!

The Calzones here are awesome, the dough is nice and light, not heavy like most places. They go perfectly with their marinara sauce. Great spot for a quick lunch.

Believe the hype, these calzones are NUTS! On our way back from Portland, ME to good ol’ New York City, we took a half-way stop on the always-awesome Thayer Street and cruised the pavement looking for some dinner. Reading all the Unilocal love and thinking about my D.P. Dough experiences from college days, my friend and I jumped into Mike’s for a quick bite. Overwhelmed by the awesome menu and selection of toppings, we were overjoyed to find out that we could split a single calzone into two different flavors, so we opted for ½ meat lover(pepperoni, sausage, meatball, bacon) and ½ buffalo chicken(needs no introduction). Our made-to-order calzone popped out about ten minutes later, sliced into four pieces, with a sprinkling of cheese baked right onto the top of the ‘zone! Sinking my teeth into this monstrosity was an experience up there with my first kiss… seriously. Gooey cheese, toppings aplenty, and a nice cup o’ dunking sauce(blue cheese and marinara for each half) made this meal a force to be reckoned with. Service was friendly and patient, despite their staffers having to practically lift our jaws off the ground when we were scanning the menu. Wow…

Outstanding calzone. Exemplary service. Terrific value. Nobody better! As a calzone connoisseur, I can tell you that Mike’s is the best around. And by «around» I mean anywhere that I have ever been in these great 50 states and beyond. An-y-where. The best. Quality ingredients, excellent crust, and everything in perfect proportion. I got to try both the barbecue chicken and a choose-your-own with pepperoni, green peppers, and marinara. But not only that, they also treat everyone like the first and most special customer who has ever walked through their door. AND they sell this giant, amazing calzone for only eight bucks! I am lethally jealous of all the college kids up here who can eat a Mike’s calzone anytime they like. I’ve been here for less than 24 hours, but so far I can’t think of a better reason to return to Providence.
