Micaiah

Micaiah is a game changer in my book. He actively and thoughtfully listened to my ideas, messed around with my hair prior to cutting it to help determine the best plan, was SO genuinely interested in doing hus best job and in the end, he nailed it. His laid back presence and professionalism calmed my nerves from the moment I walked in. I should also mention the salon is beautiful, quiet, calm… I loved everything about this experience and would definitely recommend a cut with Micaiah to anyone I care about! Thanks again Micaiah! :)

Micaiah gives the most fabulous hair cuts! He is very detail oriented and always strives for perfection. He always remembers what my style is and anything different we did during the previous session. His salon is beautiful and relaxing. Every haircut is better than the last. I have been getting my haircut by him for over a year and I have never been disappointed. I can’t recommend him more highly!

Had a last-​minute trim and Micaiah went in early to take care of me. Trim was perfect. Gotta go back to see him again.

I’ve only written one or two reviews on Unilocal during my however many years on it. The place in question either has to be utterly atrocious or mind-​blowingly amazing. Fortunately for Micaiah, I can say it’s firmly the latter.
I received the best haircut of my entire life, ever. His attention to detail is out of this world. You can tell he cares about each and every client of his. The fact that he spent 2 hours for my appointment speaks to his commitment. He’s not in a rush. He’s there to deliver on quality.
One of the harder things about getting a haircut is articulating what exactly you want. I guess Cai is just that intuitive in his senses that he knows what you mean. It also obviously helps to have pictures of a style you like that he can work off of.
And speaking of pictures, he had photos of hairstyles on his phone that he had saved prior to my appointment. Yes, he did some homework, if you will. I guess that’s the benefit of having gone to him more than once, because he knows the type of haircut I want. Regardless, I was impressed that he went through the effort of finding suitable hairstyles that would fit me.
On top of this, I have to say that he knows how to cut Asian hair. This will sound weird to non-​Asians, but Asian hair tends to be straight and thick. So, if you’re an Asian guy and you cut your hair short all around, it tends to poof straight up and you end up looking like a porcupine. This means you can’t really cut it in the same fashion as you would for non-​Asian hair. You Asian guys will know what I mean. In any case, I confidently sign off on his abilities to cut this type of hair.
He’s also very friendly, personable, and makes you feel at ease. Just an all around good guy. If you’ve made it this far through my review, stop overthinking it, stop searching around for other options, and stop second guessing any thoughts you have — just book an appointment. DO IT. You won’t regret it.

Cai was just phenomenal on my visit. He spent nearly an hour and a half working on my (what little I have left of…) hair and beard. Crafting a hair cut that suited my weirdly shaped head, making sure it worked with my beard and receding hair line. I was ready to buzz it off, but was hoping I can do something with what I still have and he delivered. A gentle dude with a huge smile and as obsessive to detail as I am. I found my stylist/​barber in PVD.
I’d go back every two weeks if I could to keep this cut.
Oh, and Cai was such a class act he let me walk out without paying for the full service cause I didn’t have enough cash… and wouldn’t let me feel bad about it. This guy!!!
The Chat Noir is as a clean and stylish as I’ve ever been in. It’s got a great ambiance and you can tell it’s a labour of love.

Last week I went to this salon to get my haircut. This is was my second time going to Micaiah (the first being when he was still a student), and both times I was very happy with the cut. I have very long curly hair, and it can be difficult to deal with. However Micaiah made sure the length and style turned out exactly as I wanted. He asked questions, and made adjustments throughout. He was quite a perfectionist, which is an excellent quality in a stylist. The salon also had a very relaxing atmosphere and I felt very comfortable there.

Micaiah is an authentic well tailored stylist, not only is he an artist with those shears but he actually cares about every person in that chair. To be honest I feel like I’m a blank canvas awaiting to be something better than I was 30 mins ago. This gentlemen is very clean, professional, punctual and easy to talk to. I like how he is actually willing to take the time and go over the haircut and not give you some generic crap that’s almost there. I don’t think he is afraid of any challenges either. The salon itself is beautiful, very clean, I love the white and the mirrors change the experience completely. Chat Noir is truly a hidden jewel and I love that.
