My car had bleach poured in the gas tank Howdy had it up and running with in 3 hours. Rates are reasonable I have found a new mechanic would recommend him to anyone

Strongly recommend. i was in the middle of a road trip when a whining noise came from the wheels. figured it could have been wheel bearings but not entirely sure. The noise got worse really fast and i didn’t want to risk driving it for a road trip, so i googled around and found howdy’s nearby. Took my car there 8:45, they opened at 9, howdy took a quick look, showed me which bearing was bad, got the part and replaced it, all for under 2 hours, and the noise was gone! The price was also much more reasonable than I had expected. Didn’t up sell anything, showed me exactly what was wrong. Honest and solid mechanic.

I first went to Howdy’s when my stirring wheel was acting up. The car was almost impossible to direct and made awful noises whenever I turned the wheel. One of Howdy’s guys met me on a snowy Saturday and after 20 minutes determined that I was losing power steering fluid somehow. He replaced the fluid and sent me on my way without charge.
A couple months after that, someone took out my driver’s side mirror. Howdy ordered a new mirror on Thursday evening, got the part on Friday and had it on my car within 15 minutes for a fraction of what my friends where telling me it was going to cost.
Howdy is quick, efficient, honest and friendly.

My girlfriend and I are on a road trip when the brakes of our 88 pickup got really bad. The brake pedal went all the way to the floor and still wouldn’t stop fast. After being told by another mechanic in CT it was the master cylinder but unable to get the part for a few days we called ahead to Howdy based on the other guy’s Unilocal review. After picking the car up a few days later Howdy explained the situation very well and although I think he is a perfectionist and was not completely satisfied with the brakes they are amazing now! I am completely happy with the service provided, the communication, the friendliness, the cost and the overall results. If I lived in Providence I would always send my cars here for repair. Thanks Howdy, the brakes have been fantastic!

I come here for all my auto problems. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It doesn’t get better then this and they are always able to fix my auto problems.

I drove my car to Providence from Los Angeles California. It’s a 1991 Saab 900 with just over 100,000 miles on it. It lived most of its life in California, but now that it’s in New England, it needs more attention due to tougher weather. After searching around on the internet for a mechanic who knows how to work with old foreign imports, I came across Howdy. When I call Howdy, he answers the phone himself. He meets with me himself, and he looks over the car himself. His prices are very reasonable, he knows what he’s talking about, and he always gives me the opportunity to buy the parts that I need online and have them shipped to him, if I can find a better price than what he can find locally. He’s taken care of my car for three years now. He also knows everyone in the business in this area, so if you need auto detail work or anything else he can put you into contact with the right person. If Howdy sends you, then you know that you’ll be treated fairly right away. I don’t know that much about cars, so it’s really important for me to have someone like Howdy that I can trust in this area. I try to recommend him all the time, but it doesn’t come up that often that someone is looking for a mechanic, so I’m taking the opportunity, here, on Unilocal.If you’re looking for a mechanic, just call him. He has never charged me to take a look at my car and tell me what’s going on. At his shop, you’ll see that he works on all kinds of cars. Howdy is also a family man and overall just a really great guy. He’s also friendly, funny, and very articulate… the kind of guy who could get along with and talk to anyone with respect.
