Haven’t been to a GameStop in probably 10 years. Went in to check out the used games, found some awesome prices on good games. It was when I got to the register that Stars started dropping off my rating of this particular GameStop. The cashier was an inappropriate amount of aggressive when I politely turned down the offer to sign up for the rewards card. It was extremely uncomfortable and I will never go back in there, solely because of this sarcastic, pushy, and rude employee. Again, though: great prices on used games.

If the turds at the Providence Place Game Stop give me that(honey do you even know what a master chief is) look, one more time, I’ll throw all their scratched up, used games off the balcony. I’m there all the time!!! Learn my face. And stop quizzing me. THENHITTING on me when you realize I know what I’m talking about. I notice that when i go in with guy friends vs. my lady friends they treat the groups TOTALLY different. A couple weeks after Dead space 3 came out i went in to buy the 2nd one for my boyfriend he wanted to play the 3rd one i had bought but never played he 2nd. sooo, the guy at the counter squinted at me and said«you do realize this is the 2nd one right? the new one is number 3» … … …oh my. I explained it wasn’t for me and i already played the 3rd one. and then suddenly he treated me like a normal person. and started talking about the game. turns out he had trouble with the(build your own) weapons and never finished it… IFYOUTREATWOMANTHISWAY… they will be too shy and embarrassed to try new games. it really is sad what beautiful adventures and exciting quests people miss out on when they have a whole group of people telling them they are not good enough to even try.

Gamestop is one of those places that you don’t really think about until you really need it. For those of you not familiar, they are essentially the Toys R Us of video games. They have the most popular systems available(new and used/discounted) as well as all the games that you can imagine including computer games. Often times they will hold a midnight release if there is a popular game coming out and people will line up for hours in order to be the first to possess a game(eg World of Warcraft). Anyways, I don’t play many video games nowadays but Gamestop offers a service that I find rather convenient. They buy back old stuff including old game consoles, games and apple products. Today I came to sell back my old iphone and since it turned on(yes, they check) I was offered store credit or cash. Of course, store credit would have made the most sense if I planned to buy something in the store as it was almost a $ 20 difference. But of course, I didn’t have anything that I wanted so I took the cash and ran. A very simple process and now I’m off with my cash!

So I happened to be in the neighborhood yesterday and stopped at this Game Stop at the Providence Place Mall. The handsome guy at the counter helped me out by first looking to see if they had Pokemon Silver or Gold in stock. They didn’t, but no harm, no foul. They did have a copy of Bioshock Infinite for 18 bucks, though. So that with a copy of Dead Island Riptide for the roommates and I was ready to check out. First problem… my roommate, a guy… was the one checking out, and I was standing behind him. The gent seemed to initially assume my roommate was the big gamer in this pair. A normal interaction for me, but increasingly irritating. I soon turned it around after talking games and problem averted. The REAL issue is this guy was super pushy with the sales. I don’t like sales pitches, but to get out of there I broke down and upgraded to the Game Rewards Pro card. After that is all finally said and done, I go home to Massachusetts to play my new game. Dead Island works fine. Bioshock, however… is an old Red box game. It’s unreadable. Needless to say I’m not happy. After getting annoyed with the pushiness of the sales and a minor annoyance of the gender stereotype, this kind of made the entire experience very unpleasant. I’m hoping I can return this to a Game Stop in my area. Hopefully for a working copy. I was going to spend my Sunday gaming… C‘set last vie…

Once upon a time this Gamestop used to be managed by people who actually gave a shit about their jobs and the products they were peddling. The current store and district manager have no idea what their talking about, who their current clientele are, and how to work in niche retail. Point and case: I should not have to ever, ever tolerate being offered specific games, game consoles, or other products based on my gender. Don’t ask me ‘if I’m sure’ I want to pre-order Halo 4. Don’t ask or condescend to me if I’m purchasing products for my boyfriend or father or brother. When I ask you about a product, don’t bullshit your way around it and try to upsell me because you think I don’t know the facts. Previous management understood that gaming is genderless. Current management does not and it’s pretty disgusting having to deal with people’s assumptions on my interests based on whether or not there’s a pair of tits on my chest. Time to shop on Amazon, I guess. At least they actually reccommend me products based on what I buy and look at.
