I am so grateful that I found Dawn and City Personnel! Dawn was so fabulous in keeping me sane through the hiring process, she worked around my schedule and was always available when I had silly questions for her. She made it easy, but wasn’t pushy. I highly recommend Dawn and the team at City Personnel. Thanks for helping land my great new job!

I wish I could give no stars for this staffing agency. I was looking to go back to work after having children. Dawn pushed and pushed for me to take a temp position. I told her a temp position wouldn’t work for me Bc of my children… sick days were needed in case of emergencies. She insisted I apply Bc it was «a good fit» (they May hire permanently within 3 – 9 months) and told me she would give me the weekend. On that Monday I decided to at least give it a try and talk to the controller about really wanting a permanent position. (It wouldn’t hurt to ask) I emailed Dawn back and said to submit my application and she asked if I could go in for an interview that Wednesday. I told her I could. She emailed me back shortly after to tell me they weren’t interested anymore Bc I took too long to give an answer. This is after SHE TOLD ME to think about it over the weekend.
I think she’s poor at communicating and only looking after herself since she will obviously be getting paid from the companies her clients apply for. I would not recommend them at all.

Since the last review was from 2012, I thought I would write a more recent and fair review (read honest) about the service I received from City Personnel.
As a job seeker, I found City Personnel to be professional, honest, and thorough. I was wary about using an employment agency, but City Personnel quickly quelled my worries.
Although I applied to a position through Craigslist that they didn’t end up placing me with (the ad was NOT marked as an employment agency ad), I still give City Personnel 5 stars. I made it clear that I only wanted permanent, full-​time employment with full benefits, and an honest employer. The staff at City Personnel honored my request and didn’t waste my time with temp, temp to perm, or otherwise unfavorable jobs. They also met my salary requirements and didn’t present me with anything less. In addition, I noticed they offered meeting times before and after normal «business hours» of 9 – 5 for those who are currently employed, which is thoughtful.
City Personnel has been thorough with their follow up with me, always calling/​texting/​e-​mailing promptly with updates. I received a hand-​written «congratulations» card when my employer offered me a position, which was a nice touch.
My now-​employer that City Personnel placed me with (an HONEST and ethical employer) has hired multiple employees using City Personnel and has nothing negative to say about their service. Seems as if they DO, in fact, have a pool of qualified candidates, and as a candidate myself, my references and candidacy were indeed verified.

While I have worked with professional (read Honest) staffing agencies in Rhode Island; this is Not one of them. They market themselves to employers as having a pool of qualified candidates whom they will thoroughly vet. In fact, they merely place ads on craigslist (which an employer can do themselves for 25 $) and in these ads their staff DO not disclose that they are a third party! They in fact post the ads as I learned from a temp as if they are the direct hire. It is a mere bait and switch and further after using their agency, you will receive far too many follow up and marketing calls as will your other departments! Employers should institute a 90 day probationary period, run your own 25 $ ad, and vet references yourself (upon checking references for due diligence, though they were positive, I learned that they had never been contacted by City Personnel). Cut out the middle man; wasted expense.
