History
Established in 1987.
Thurston Wolfe winery is a family owned and operated business founded by Dr. Wade Wolfe and Becky Yeaman. After becoming first winery to be established in Yakima Washington, the winery moved to Prosser Washington in 1992. With growing demands for higher production of wines and an increase in consumers, Thurston Wolfe expanded and built an entire new facility from the ground up in the summer of 2008. Today, it sits with a collection of other wineries located in what is now called the Vintners Village in Prosser, less then a mile away from exit 82.
Meet the Business Owner
Wade W.
Business Owner
With decades of experience, hands on work, and education; Dr. Wade Wolfe has had a pivotal role in developing Washington wine and Viticulture. After receiving his Pd D in Plant Genetics from UC Davis, Wade found himself working along side Dr. Walter Clore in the 1970’s. He continued his career path by working at many brand name wineries including Ste. Michelle, Houge Cellars and eventually starting Thurston Wolfe Wines. Predominately know for his work in the vineyards, Dr. Wolfe found even more success in wine making. He developed numerous complex red blends including the awarding winning Geologist Bordeaux, The Teacher Cabernet, and single varieties like the Lemberger and Zephyr Ridge Petite Sirah.
