Barry Services

Despite the holidays and the thousands of deliveries these folks work; Barry Morris and his crew are awesome! The poor ratings they have are not understood by me. There is no way, that if a customer is being reasonable, that this company would receive 1 star or anything less than 4 for that matter. You have to be reasonable and caring. I have been in sales and professional services on the high end of Fortune 500 clients for a long time and I want to hire these people!
The communications were perfect! Fast and consistent. I wasn’t able to get the treadmill the exact day I wanted but mostly because of the holidays. Barry worked with me and got it to me on his own with no help from his crew because they were out delivering other items. Rather than making me wait till the next week; Barry drove it out and helped me get the MASSIVE box right where I wanted it.
Additional notes worth mentioning:
Appearance: professional and clean.
My wife is tough on people… really tough:-) She even said that the delivery guys she spoke with were very friendly. That’s like… whaaaaaattt? Getting a complement from her is a BIG deal!
Thank you Barry for going the extra mile for me. AND no… I do not know Barry or anyone at his company personally. This is my review and I’m happy to write it!

We used Barry’s Services for disassembly/​reassembly of our treadmill for a move last week within the city of Chicago, and they were very unprofessional. I requested an afternoon appointment for disassembly, and after several conflicting emails on the appointment time, I was stuck with a morning appointment, which was difficult on my family. The technicians who disassembled the machine went to the wrong address and behaved very unprofessionally. They also misplaced the power cord for the treadmill, and we still haven’t found it. The technician who reassembled the machine also went to the wrong address. Then we were charged $ 125 for each trip, of which I was not made aware prior to the service. I was under the impression that the entire service would be $ 125, and was charged double. We will not be referring friends to their services. I should have used the company that delivered the treadmill when we purchased it instead.

#1 They did the same thing I did in calling the treadmill company and they proceeded to order the same exact part.

I would never recommend there services.

We asked Barry Services to inspect and repair the treadmills for our building, which they did for a reasonable service charge. However, they never had any intention of servicing the treadmills and only told us to throw them out and buy their new or refurbished treadmills. It took quite a bit of pressing them to get any kind of breakdown as to what needed to be repaired. When they finally did list the repairs they told us the parts weren’t available anymore. We did a 10 second Google search and found the parts are easily available, so they then told us they don’t have our treadmills as a supplier. Well, then why did they tell us they could do the repair in the first place? Obviously, because they were only interested in up-​selling us into one of their machines. They never did give us a quote for the cost of repairs, even if we we got the parts ourselves. Big rip-​off.

I purchased a commercial-​grade elliptical through craigslist and it was large enough/​heavy enough that I didn’t want to move it. I contacted Barry Services and told them where it was, where it was going to and the model of the elliptical. I described it and he said he knew which one it was. It was too large to fit through the doorways so it would have to be disassembled, moved, then reassembled (thus, why I hired fitness equipment movers). We scheduled a time about a week out and he quoted me a price of $ 150. I called the morning of to confirm and he said that we were all set.
When he showed up at the sellers home, he said that it was not the model he thought and the price would be AT LEAST $ 250! He also said that it was the end of the day and he just really didn’t want to do it. He tried to tell me that he said the price started at $ 150 and that I didn’t give him enough information about it, which is just not true. As a «specialist» in moving and repairing ellipticals, you need to know enough about them to give an accurate quote when I gave him the model number!
I was stuck with a mover that doubled the price and really didn’t want to do it and a seller that needed it out of their home. He was totally unprofessional in the seller’s home.
I would certainly not recommend him to move an elliptical. If you must use him, definitely get a quote in writing with the model of the machine listed on the quote.
