The Design and Construction Process can be thought of much as a dialogue or conversation. The best design and the most successful construction work is accomplished when, as a team of Owner, Architect and Contractor, we stay close to this concept and keep the conversation open and clear.

We take this dialogue seriously, for, as Winston Churchill once said «We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.» We also look beyond this observation to include the environment as ‘shaped’ by our work as well, and therefore sustainability is always a design factor of significance at least, if not a primary objective.

Our buildings should be representative of an effort to both raise humanity and enhance the environment. Finally, our main interest is to see the client’s goals and objectives realized, including time and budget constraints, not our own agenda superimposed. We listen, respond, design and build with that always in mind.

History

Established in 1993.

T. Jeffery Clarke, Architect was founded in 1993 for the practice of Architecture, Planning and Interior Design. The firm is dedicated to the general practice of architecture, with an emphasis on residential, historic preservation and institutional projects. Mr. Clarke was formerly Principal of the firm Holt*Morgan*Clarke*Russell Associates of Princeton, New Jersey and was employed there for fourteen years. He has more than thirty-​five years of experience in the field, much of it with residential projects, and has also been a licensed professional planner

Business Owner

Jeff Clarke is an award-​winning architect who was raised in the Virgina suburbs of Washington, D.C. and also in London, England. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from the University of Virginia and Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan. Following graduate school and work for the University of Michigan Planner’s Office, he moved to Princeton where he has practiced for more than thirty-​three years, previously as a principal of the firm of Holt-​Morgan-​Clarke-​Russell and since 1993 as president and founder of his own firm, T. Jeffery Clarke, Architect, PA and successor firm T. Jeffery Clarke Architect LLC. He was one of the original members of the Princeton Borough Historic Preservation Review Committee where he also served as vice chair, and was president of the Historical Society of Princeton from 1994 – 2000. His practice focuses on residential, institutional and historic preservation work.
