Don’t ever come here unless u have nothing to do the whole day!!! Their appointment system doesn’t work at all! They never follow the schedule. I made appointment for 9am, arrived at 8:30am, they didn’t even start my car at 11am? And they told me that changing the emergency brake cable needs at least 2 hours??? How long do I have to wait? And what is the point of making an appointment?

Really awful pricing — check online first to see what your service should cost, order parts yourself, and find a better business. For instance, you’d save $ 50-​$ 100 on a simple battery change by purchasing your battery at Walmart and performing the installation yourself. Walmart also gives you a $ 12 rebate for recycling your old battery there. Online they make it seem as if the installation fee would be pretty reasonable (
), but don’t expect it to be a mere $ 15.

Beware, they add 10 dollar fuel injector cleaner to your service without telling you or asking you. Check your receipt before you pay. They think you won’t bother to come back. Very poor way to treat people, you just lost a customer!

I was very happy with their commitment to take care of my car. My service rep was Jen, little lady with big nails, and my mechanics were Tom and Adam.
I came in for tire pricing, Jen was very professional and gave me options and explained the difference between tire and warrenties. I came in close to closing and was going to come back for the install. Unfortunately my tire popped when I left and had to turn around. I though I would’ve had to stick to my spare till the next day, but boy was I wrong. That little lady had the place running like a nascar shop. Everything was quick, accurate, and professional. The mechanics were friendly (rare) and stayed after after closing to make sure all my tires were installed and made sure my car was completely safe to take home.
They didnt have to help, it would’ve been socially acceptable for them to tell me they didnt have time and send me on my way but Jenn, Adam, and Tom worked well as a team and were committed to providing a great customer experience.
At the end, they did a great job and that convinced me to become a loyal customer.
I highly recommend giving this place a shot, seems they learned a lot from past reviews, great place.

Horrible work good service. Brought summer Tires to switch out with winter ones. All they had to do was switch them out. When done, noticed a CHUNK of one tire missing. Yes. 1″ piece. Manager argued a bit but hen agreed to change it out and order a new one. Wow!

Only great things to say about Shawn and The Boys — I brought my wife’s car in for an oil change and tire rotation, asked them to check out the «floating» of the car — found out that one tie rod needed to be replaced and the front sway bar had an issue — he called me when promised and we talked about what to do next.
Very happy with the service and professional courtesy — we’ve always had a good experience here!

Good customer service if you are not picky. Can make appt and have quicker service. Mechanics seemed nice. They did they job, reasonably priced.

Dropped my car off for an oil change at 12:30 this afternoon and was told it would be done by 2. I called at 2:30 and they said they were working on it. At 5:30 it’s still not done. They employee was rude, and highly Suggest that nobody bring their vehicle here unless you would like to wait over 5 hours for an oil change, yes that’s right I’m still waiting…

Do not come here! Came to get my lights checked out and wasn’t made aware of the $ 50 charge until AFTER the ridiculous estimate. $ 400 to change a switch???
Listen to the other reviews and do not use their service. It’s a complete rip off and no business model should charge you for estimates, because it just incentivizes them to overcharge and pocket your $ 50

I’ve been coming here for several years for regular oil changes, minor work, parts, and supplies. The parts department usually has what I need, or can get it in a day or two. I find the prices are comparable to the prices I find for the same things online. No one has ever treated me like I’m a clueless woman, which I really appreciate.
I see there are alot of negative reviews for the service, and I understand things go wrong occasionally, but all my experiences with service have been great. I bring my car in regularly for oil changes, and I try to go when it won’t be as busy. I usually go to the diner nearby or shopping, and if they come across something that needs attention they call right away for approval. Sometimes they are finished sooner than the timeframe they give me!

Brought my car in for new tires, alignment, and oil change. I was sent home with a car with two bleeding back brakes that could have stopped working at any time and killed me.
The fluids were not checked, let alone changed, the alignment was never performed, and the over $ 1000 in extra work, including all brakes, that they called and authorized was performed defectively.
I went back in and talked to Shawn, the manager, who did set up and pay for a checkup at my Toyota dealer. It was only there I found out that the brake lines in the back were cross threaded and the car was too dangerous too drive. Shawn did end up refunding the money for all the work that was done other than the tires.
I still can’t give them more than one star as they sent me out with a car that could have killed me, with services that were either not performed or performed defectively and dangerously. It was lucky I realized what was going on and pushed the issue. Avoid at all costs.

My son recently bought his first car — a 2002 Explorer in great shape, but understandably needing a few items fixed up. First up was a set of struts and springs all around, and we priced these out at several places in the area, finally coming to Pep Boys. We had found an excellent price for the struts online via Amazon, and my son spoke to the «assistant service manager» at Pep Boys who told him that we could bring in the struts and they would install them for $ 25 a piece. That sounded like a great price — too good in fact — so I went back with my son to get a formal quote. This time, with me there, the story was different. First — if we brought in our own parts (Monroe Quick Struts — still in original packaging), they would not warranty anything, even if they damaged the parts or car during the installation. Also — the $ 25 quote was totally wrong, and was appropriate only for shocks — not struts. Strut installation would have been about $ 500 all around. The only alternative they offered was to let them order the parts — at full list price, about $ 190 vs the $ 127 price (each) we got from Amazon, and STILL have to pay $ 500 for installation. Not sure if this was incompetency or bait and switch, but it was a bad experience all around, and needless to say we didn’t go with them.
More recently, my son needed to replace a single courtesy light under his rear view mirror, and thought he could trust them with a simple item like that. Sadly, within 10 minutes of getting the Explorer in the bay, the mechanic had actually broken the light cover — apparently because he didn’t know how to remove it properly and simply forced it. The manager told us to go to Ford, get it fixed and bring him the bill. My son went to Ford — and learned that the cover can’t be purchased separately — an entire new rear view mirror would have to be purchased and installed. My son opted out for now. Another pointless and very disappointing experience with Pep Boys — and the last time we’ll consider going there for anything other than purchasing parts off the rack.
With regard to service — I advise staying away.

Listen to the bad reviews you find here. We have been going to this place for years, despite bad experiences. But today I finally had enough. First of all, I went there in the morning, and saw how the mechanics are pulling the cars into the shop. It’s like they are hotrodding them, they have absolutely no respect for other people’s property.
Next, they replaced the tire on our RAV4. The tire cover in the back already has a deep scratch from where my wife closed the garage door on it, we are in the process of getting it fixed. But now the cover has a myriad more scratches on it, like it was carelessly placed on the bare floor with the painted side down. We called pep boys, and they told us the reviewed the video and that the mechanic could not have scratched up the cover. But my wife and I just detailed the car yesterday, since we are planning on trading it it, and these scratches were not there, we are both sure about it.
I could also list many ohter instances we had there, such as being talked into doing an alignment after we had some tires installed, pretty sure now that was unnecessary as well, and they often not being able to complete work as scheduled. So in summary, they don’t treat your car with respect there, so stay away.

I don’t know why I didn’t listen to the reviews. I went here on my lunch break to get a simple oil change. I asked how long because I had meetings I needed to get back for. He said within an hour so I though that was fair. I walked next door to the Princetonian Diner to get a bite to eat while I was waiting in order to make the best use of my time.
I had a salad and a drink and when I came out of lunch, my car hadn’t even moved from where i had parked it. This was an hour and a half ordeal.
I will not be giving them my business again if I can help it. The PepBoys in Jersey City near where I live is MUCH better. They just close too early during the week so I had to go here.

Do not come here if you can avoid it. We bought a new tire here because we had a flat and no spare. This new tire would become the spare. It was a rainy night, we were at the mall and we had a flat tire. Our spare tire was also flat, so we rented a car from Enterprise, because they pick us up, and then we took the tire to the closes tire place to where our car was, it happened to be this Pep Boys store. We left the wheel there and would pick it up the next day or so because it was late and the next day we were going out of town.
The Pep Boys removed the old flat tire from the wheel (rim) and replaced it with a brand new one we bought from them, we thought it was a good deal at a little less than one hundred dollars.
We were out of town in our rented car and came back two days later at which time we picked up the new wheel. We drove to the mall where our car was and I replaced the wheel.
As I drove my car, my wife drove the rented car. I noticed that my car was making a strange sound but thought nothing of it. The next day my wife drove our car and was totally freaked by the sound so we went back to the Pep Boys where we were told, and I’m paraphrasing here, «that’s normal. Whenever you get a new tire it will make a sound for a day or so but it will disappear».
Well we drove the car for a week, me having to listen to my wife’s concern about the sound. Finally we took the car back to the Pep boys and told them that the noise was not going away. We were then told to bring the car in the next day (today) at 8:00 am.
After we dropped our daughter off at school, my wife and I were on our way to the Pep Boys. En-​route there I decided to see what kind of reviews were written about this Pep Boys store and found that it had 6 (six) reviews all of which were negative. So, needless to say we bypassed the Pep Boys and took our car to Mieneke were the situation was assessed. Had we listened to the advice of the Pep Boys and continued driving our car until the noise disappeared we could have had a fatality. The wheel rotor protective shield was slicing into the wheel (rim) and had we not remedied it when we did it could have been bad.
Pep boys did not even bother to look at our car to determine what the noise was. They told us to keep driving it, potentially putting our lives at risk. All they had to do was look at the car, it would have been an additional job for them and we would have been at ease. NEVER GOING TO PEP BOYS EVER AGAIN.

I’ve only been here for service, but wasn’t impressed. They had very few tires in stock that fit our car, except for the Pep Boy store brand (can’t remember what it was called — something starting with a ‘D’). We wanted Goodyear Wrangler tires, so they ordered them, but they said it would take a week to arrive. We ordered them, but then the day before they were supposed to arrive, the store called to say they would probably be late. We finally got some brains and went directly to the Goodyear store (not sure why that hadn’t occurred to us before) — they had the tires in stock, and put them on in less than an hour with less than a day’s notice. When the tires finally got in to Pep Boys, it was a day later than the already-​excessive week we were initially quoted. I may be back to buy supplies, but not for service.

Shawn the srv mgr is all about the bait and switch. Quotes one price over the phone and whem i got there wanted to charge almost 50% more. Then reduced it to 20% over the orig quote. Told me a couple hours, 4 hours later it was not even started. Save your self the headache and go elsewhere.

I can not talk to the service department side of things but I had no problems buying stuff here and their prices are semi-​decent depending on what you are looking for.
Use the store.

Stay away from this business. They damage your car and then make you pay even more to fix the damage they did. They asked me for $ 1700 for a general check up, and when I picked up the car it wasn’t even turning on. They said it wasn’t their fault and wanted to charge me an extra $ 500 to replace the battery. I had getty on Route 1 fix it and they charged me $ 110! By the way, go there, they’re really good and most of their business comes form the damage done at Pep Boys.
