History

Established in 2008.

Fruity Yogurt was founded by Jenny Chen in 2008. Chen, who currently resides in California, lived in New Jersey for 22 years and was a piano teacher at the Westminster Conservatory in Princeton before founding a successful real estate business, Dynasty Realtors, still active today. She was inspired to create her own version of the fro-​yo craze sweeping California when she found herself going to frozen yogurt stores three, maybe four times a day. Driven by her desire to create the best possible flavors of yogurt, Chen attended cooking classes in Taiwan under a certified cooking master to develop her own flavors. Fruity Yogurt’s first store opened in Hillsborough and has since expanded to two more successful locations in New Brunswick and Princeton.

I don’t really know if this review will do the place just because I never get the frozen yogurt, instead I am more geared towards getting the bubble tea (I would assume others would too). The milk based bubble tea or so-​so; they are not the best tasting bubble tea. For instance, the first time I got the original milk boba tea I was expecting it to taste like all of the others ones I have had. However, this was not the case the flavor was off the tapioca were hard and not chewy. One of the better alternatives is the tea based bubble tea and I usually get the Honey Green tea. The first time I had the Honey Green Tea it became my favorite drink I got from here, but as time went on the quality of their drinks kept diminishing and kept getting worse and worse. The price for the bubble tea is also very expensive around 5 $ for a cup and I would say that this 5 $ is not well spent and should be spent somewhere else. What was once a frequent visited place, now becomes a once in a while place to get bubble tea when I am craving it the most.

Meh meh meh. My boba tea was watered down, clearly made with powdered milk and poorly mixed. It was flavorless and the bubbles were stale/​old. I have really had better. I did not however have the frozen yogurt, so I can’t really comment on it. But it you are going for bubble/​boba tea, I would avoid this place. It just really is a sub-​par tea experience, I am hurt and I wish I had my $ 4 back.

I’ve only ever gotten bubble tea here, but Fruity Yogurt has been an incredibly consistent bubble tea presence in my life for the past 4 or 5 years. I like the wide variety of flavor choices and the boba (on the firmer side and rather consistent.) The tea tends to be pretty sweet, but I don’t find it overwhelming. For the price, it is pretty worth it (although I am very used to NYC bubble tea prices.)

Props on having Fiji water.
Their yogurt is overly sweet and not tart at all. I can taste the artificial sweeteners in every bite.
I ordered the boba tea original flavor. And it was worst boba ever. No flavor of tea.
Décor is standard of a self serve yogurt store. Some seating in the front of the store. Nothing comfortable. Bar height round tables and some mismatched stools.

Everything here is simply delicious. I love the flavors of frozen yogurt they offer, the toppings (especially the fruity bubble balls that burst in your mouth), and even the extensive options for people who are not into frozen yogurt. My friend loves coming here for the flavored shaved ice they make. It comes in a really cool cup and looks beautiful. There’s something here for everyone.

Excellent quality frozen yogurt and toppings! I’ve tried a few places in the Princeton area, and this is definitely one of the top (I admit, the new 16 Handles in Nassau Park is great, but if you’re out and about in Princeton, go here for froyo!)
They offer other kinds of desserts, like bubble tea and Hawaiian shaved ice! I’ve only tried the bubble tea, and it was okay. It is overly sweet, even when I ask for ½ sugar, but I’ll give it another try :)

This place got some awesome drinks! It was cold yesterday, so I ordered hot mocha bubble tea. It was everything what I expected, if this place offered a half gallon size for the drinks, I would definitely get that mocha drink in that size! On top of that, the environment is really chill, they play really good music. Great place for hanging out with friends!

I couldn’t be happier that there’s a Fruity Yogurt in Princeton. I have to stop myself from going whenever I can, but I still end up going once or twice every week. They have an tremendous variety of flavors and toppings, which includes a lot of Asian flavors you can’t typically find (e.g. Taro froyo, grass jelly, lychee jelly, etc.).
I think of this place primarily as a bubble tea place, but I’ve had their frozen yogurt before, and the toppings make that pretty great as well. I’ve also heard good things about their shaved ice, which you can really load up with toppings. You can put topping in whatever you want, so I often find myself putting lychee jelly in addition to my tapioca in bubble teas. I’ve probably have 15+ different flavors from them so far, and very few, if any, have been a disappointment.
Off the top of my head, flavors that are always great to me are taro, original, thai, vanilla almond, and honeydew (with milk). They also have a couple of cool hybrid flavors such as rose lychee and taro coconut. Some people complain their bubble tea is too sweet, but I don’t particularly mind it. Maybe the taro could be more authentic in this category, but I don’t find it useful to try to mimic the original flavor as closely as possible. To me, I appreciate their consistency the most – the tapioca bubbles are always nice and chewy and it tastes the way I expect every time I go.
The owner/​manager (?) and employees are always really friendly and accommodating, and I personally think the music selection inside is great. Sometimes they even play K-​pop!

I have been very wary of writing a review here, considering that I was an employee for quite a while back during the store’s inception. I have experienced the growth of the place as well as the changes, both as an employee and now, as a patron. I would have given Fruity Yogurt 5 stars in its heyday, but now, I have had a few disappointing visits over the past few years.
The inconsistency of bubble tea flavor breaks my heart because this is supposed to be an establishment with very regimented recipes. The taste of the bubble tea always varies by employee. The best bubble teas are of course, when Francisco is working.
The boba is supposed to be the best part and on many days, they are very good. When I worked there, we were taught to check on the boba every now and then, making sure that the texture and chewiness were still desirable. My most recent boba was hard and tasteless.
The only consistent thing here is the yogurt. The quality of the yogurt hasn’t changed over the years, which is great. Honestly, the only reason the yogurt is still good is because only very few knowledgeable employees make it.

This was a fantastic find and I wish their were most places like this in the world. This place is extremely modern, comfortable, and lively. They stress their frozen yogurt, although I do sense that a lot of their revenue comes from their drinks. I decided to try their bubble teas, since they had a huge selection. Pricing here isn’t bad: froyo is reasonably priced, bubble teas are under $ 4, etc. We first tried a melon milk tea. It. Was really good, refreshing, not too sweet. The drink itself was well balanced. I ordered the pumpkin spice bubble tea, which was definitely needed for this fall season. The tea was amazing, with a heavy pumpkin taste, complimented by a slight cinnamon taste and a milk base. The bubbles were also quite good. The two drinks we ordered were delicious and I still have cravings for the pumpkin bubble tea.

Great and fast service for drinks even when they’re extremely busy and there’s only two people working at the counter.
I needed something to quench my thirst after a long day of walking and their peach mango fruit tea did just the job! I would’ve asked for less sugar if I knew that the fruit tea was on the sweeter side, but it was still refreshing nonetheless.
My friend tried the green tea shake which was very good. They make your drinks however you want it, which is a plus. I really like this place and would stop here again!

Bubble teas and late evening walks in Princeton make my night complete! I’m always in a mood for bubble tea, especially since Fruity Yogurt offers a wonderful selection of flavors ranging from fruity to milky to chocolatey and of toppings including the basic tapiocas and fruit jelly (to name a few).
Even though they don’t accept tips, the employees have a lovely smile and friendly attitude making me feel good and want to come back here again and again!
Besides their great selection of bubble teas, they also have froyo! What an amazing hang out spot for friends and families!
Two of my favorite flavors are matcha and lychee (without milk).

This is a very cute place. The store has a warm feeling because of its bright orange walls.
I usually come here to satisfy my here-​and-​there frozen yogurt cravings. This place is like any other frozen yogurt shop where you get the yogurt first and choose your own toppings and then pay by its weight. Make sure to get a few little taste cups so you can try a variety of flavors first before you decide!
They have some flavors that I genuinely adore:
1. coconut
2. taro (nonfat)
3. vanilla (nonfat)
4. Mango
I don’t really like their coffee caramel or chocolate because I would rather have chocolate or coffee caramel ice cream/​gelato for the extra creaminess. They do have a huge variety of toppings. My favorite is the Aloe Vera because you can’t really find those at other fro-​yo shops.
They also have boba drinks if you’re craving for milk tea or just those chewy tapioca. Seatings are pretty limited inside (~4 tables). It’s a perfect little treat for a humid and hot summer day.

Top knotch Thai bubble tea. Sooo much tapioca. It was like half tapioca and half tea. That’s my personal preference, so yeyyyyy (why else does anyone get bubble tea other than to chew their drink, right?).

Fruity Yogurt is a favorite yogurt shop among Princeton students because it is conveniently located right near the campus. Fruity Yogurt makes its own yogurt with flavors like taro, cake batter, strawberry, and cookies & cream. In addition to frozen yogurt, they serve bubble tea, shaved ice, and other treats.
I have gotten the strawberry, guava, cookies and cream, taro, and no sugar added vanilla flavors. The yogurt isn’t as sweet or artificial tasting as some of the other places. They also have a variety of toppings, including healthy options like fresh fruits and indulgent ones like cheesecake bites. You can also sample different flavors with sample cups.
They must get a lot of people «stealing» toppings (I’m not sure how this is even possible) because they have pretty funny sign that curse people who do.

Let me start by saying that as a student in the area who loves frozen yogurt and boba, there really isn’t much of a choice of where to go. To me, Fruity Yogurt far surpasses Sketch (the other froyo place on Nassau), in taste, options, price, and ambiance.
Fruity’s flavors are diverse — my favorites are taro (always on tap) and lychee (not always on tap). The toppings are varied too — you have your typical ice cream toppings, candy, fruit, as well as mochi, pop boba and assorted jelly. I also love their milk tea boba (if you want a less sweet option, try the matcha milk tea boba). The taste is actually great compared to what I’ve had elsewhere. I do wish they had a smaller size though, because the one size offered is huge.
The price is proportional to the high price of food in the area but decent compared to the other dessert options.
Ambiance is bright, colorful, and happy. There’s always top 40 music playing though — not always my thing when trying to catch up with friends.
Maybe it’s because it’s the only decent option in town or maybe it’s because it’s just that good, but this is my go-​to dessert place!

I absolutely LOVE this place. The environment is friendly and bubbly, the staff is great, and the drinks/​froyo are amazing. I love coming here when I’m back home, especially in the summer. It’s definitely nice to drop on in because they have AC and ice cold drinks. You can also get our boba drinks hot during the winter, so it’s great to have an all year round froyo and bubble tea place.
Francisco is my absolute FAVORITE. He makes great conversations and always remembers us. If you drop by, tell him we all say hello!
The prices are a little on the high side, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s also right at the heart of Princeton, so if you can, you can take your things to-​go and walk to the fountain or around the university!

Fruity Yogurt does some things really well. They have a nice selection of frozen yogurt, including some frozen greek yogurt and even soft serve. On the other hand, the mochi toppings my friend got were very stale and the Black Milk Tea I got had an unexpected cinnamon flavor to it.
In short, get the froyo, but skip the toppings and bubble tea.
