Calvert Hospice cares for those in our community who are living with a serious, life-limiting illness. We provide expert medical care, pain and symptom management, and emotional and spiritual support.
Calvert Hospice was once an amazing non-profit organization. With the Board changing management since Lynn Bonde’s retirement several years ago — it’s been downhill and very sad to see such detrimental changes by the Director that lacks compassion and manages with an iron ‘heartless’ fist. I would love to see a full account of the fiscal audits for the past few years. The new Director even hired her husband. And the group that formed the money making arm of hospice was silently oust out minus the $ 130,000 given to Hospice from the Festival of Trees in 2012. No ‘thanks yous’ was given for the committees 2012 hard work. Sadly, there’s so much politics involved — I could go on and on about the false statements and deceit but I’ll just leave it at that. If I should ever need hospice, I will be going out of the county for care unless a new director is selected. Also, I would love to see hospice’s mission of compassion put foremost for patients and their families. Lastly, just so you know, the director took over the festival of trees in 2013, hospices 25th festival anniversary. She claimed record revenue despite the ‘enormous’ expenses ‘she’ paid out because she ran the event. The Director had College of Southern Maryland’s wife lead the marketing of FoT. Wonder how much she was paid? Record revenue was not the case when all was said and done. In 24 previous years, the event was ran by volunteers without compensation. Wonder why the director never told the public how much hospice really made from the festival of trees in 2013. The Director also let go of several great and dedicated nurses. And sadly, patient care and satisfaction dropped since leadership changed. Where is the Board of Directors when they hire someone that poorly manages a non-profit once admired in the community?
