Stepping Stone Thrift

I like this thrift store and shop here probably once a week. Sometimes I find amazing items for great prices, and sometimes I go home without anything, but I always enjoy the experience. It’s been newly reorganized in a good way too. Plus, if you drop off a donation out back, you can ask for a 10% discount coupon, which includes their household store, their clothing store and their coffee shop. I appreciate the fact that the money goes to help local people and not for million dollar CEO salaries like a bigger, much higher priced, ‘secondhand’ chain store in the neighborhood. I have a friend from Phoenix who visits me and always insists we make a shopping trip to Stepping Stones which I’m always happy to do.

Buyer beware! I purchased two albums there that were behind the counter and they had marked them VERY high… Like WAAAYYYYY high. Now I should have looked to see that these were NOT the originals but the girl at the counter suggested, «Oh we looked these up and they were such and such so this price is good.» I should have known better and looked on my phone but I was in a hurry…
Needless to say, I could have gotten these online for ¹⁄₁₀ of the price :-(
Ohhhh and a word about the clothing store… Well, they think they have a boutique and overcharge on vintage pieces as well as some Target-​styled clothing. Seriously, $ 35 for a contemporary glitter jacket or $ 45 for a 60s dress with stains?
NOT impressed.

Still got great stuff there. Even though they moved all the clothes just down the street, a little ways, for more room it’s still go good stuff. I get all my records there (99 cents each!!). I come out of there with a ton of books and records. Great stuff.

As far as thrift stores go, it is one is my favorites in the Prescott area. The proceeds go for a good cause, helping abused women and children. The prices are average. For a good deal they have half priced clothing and 10 cent books on the front porch. I shop here at least once a week. Three buildings comprise this location, carrying clothing for men, women, and children, housewares, books and media, toys, and jewelry. They also have a second location nearby with large items like furniture and household goods.
They have a ‘club’ card that gets punched each time you make a purchase. You can use it towards purchases in their store. The ratio is 10 cents for every dollar you spend, goes onto your card.

Lots and lots of stuff in two locations. Prices seem higher than other local shops.

As a self-​professed thrift store connoisseur, this is one of the best I have ever been to! The store consists of three distinct buildings. The first is filled with clothes, housewares, jewelry; the second with books (a collection worthy of a small used bookstore and equally well-​organized), shoes, men’s clothes; the third with children’s clothes, toys (half a dozen strollers in good shape), craft supplies, holiday stuff, and linens.
Unfortunately I didn’t have nearly enough time to peruse to my heart’s content (it would have taken me at least a few hours to do a comprehensive look through) and certainly plan to return whenever I’m in the neighborhood (or within an hour’s drive of the neighborhood).

Pros:

Cons:
unless you allow yourself a few hours you may feel overwhelmed with the sheer mass of stuff
I didn’t even get a chance to look through the clothes so I can’t comment on the selection/​quality
In a nutshell, go! You’ll be impressed.
