This is a toughie to review. Stopped in on a weekend away from Chicago on a Saturday night for karaōke. Kind and welcoming staff and patrons and cheap drinks (they have food, too).
I love all kinds of bars, so I’m real open to places that are different and off the beaten path. Rowdy’s feels like you’re in someone’s clean basement. Super intimate. New floors and walls. Not very bar-​like. Kept wishing for the charm and grit of an old bar.
But Rowdy’s is fun –especially if you’re friendly and open to conversations with strangers. If not, the atmosphere won’t hold your attention.
