This one of my favourite parks to visit in the Dublin area with grand overlook of O’Shaunessy Dam and the river valley below the dam. Recently upgraded with new parking, benches, railings and walkways in the past few years this is a very nice small park for a visit or fishing from lower floodplain access. Early morning visitor will be greeted by swallows that nest under the dam roadway and dart through the misty skies chasing insects. This is a great spot for picnics before hitting the Columbus Zoo and a beautiful green space with plenty of shade to escape the heat of the day. O’Shaughnessy Dam, finished in 1925 is a distinctive piece of civil engineering and the views here throughout the changing seasons are spectacular. Visiting it after over two weeks of Summer thunderstorms gave me the thrill of Niagra as water crested the dam and thundered down the river valley kicking up a refreshing mist. FYI: Google maps shows this park located on the east bank off Riverside Drive, it is on the west bank with it’s entrance off Glick Road just before the Bogey Inn.
