A Knoxville native, Dr. Chris O’Brien MD, MBA is certified by The American Board of Ophthalmology. He practices both pediatric and comprehensive ophthalmology at Center For Sight, in Knoxville, TN. He is a graduate of the Washington University in St. Louis Economics program and is the only graduate to ever concurrently receive MD, MBA, and MPH degrees from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. O’Brien served as chief resident during residency in ophthalmology at New York Medical College and completed additional specialized training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at both the University of California San Diego’s Shiley Eye Center and the Naval Medical Center San Diego.

In 2013, Dr. O’Brien was appointed by the American Academy of Ophthalmology to the AAO Young Ophthalmologist Committee — a group whose mission is to enhance the involvement and education of ophthalmologists in training or who have recently completed training.

Dr. O’Brien is proud to serve as an editor for EyeWiki, a physician-​managed online resource for all medical eye problems. This free website was referenced by over 1.5 million visitors, both professional and public, in 2014.

In his spare time, Dr. O’Brien enjoys cooking, hiking, music, and photography.

Established in 1978.

Center For Sight has proudly served Greater Knoxville’s eye needs for over 35 years. Dr. Kenneth Raulston MD co-​founded Center For Sight in 1978 and was joined by Dr. Stephen Franklin MD in 1988.

In 2014, Center For Sight added Dr. Chris O’Brien MD, who specializes in pediatric ophthalmology, eye alignment, and eye movement disorders.

Drs. Raulston, Franklin, and O’Brien are East Tennessee natives.
