Western Mower & Engine

I was sawing wood with my electric chain saw when the chain came off. I tried to place back on but didn’t know the art to it! I found Western Mower on Unilocal today, called them and just walked in for a repair same day. Thought I had to leave the saw there till they worked on it. But John at the front desk took a quick look & had it back in action in 3 minutes. He even showed me how to fix it if it ever came off again. It was quite simple, but I am the novice with power tools.

Great courteous service!!! Totally honest, knowledgable and the customer service was the best!!! Totally explained the ins and outs of how fuel effects the carburetor and what we can do to eliminate issues etc etc. they were timely on their repair, even filled our mower with z full tank upon completion of our repair! They are busy busy but I can see why!!! So glad I found them and they were able to save our mower.

I’ve been going to Western for about six years and never had a ptoblem. I’ve purchased a Echo Blower, Weed Wacker & a Hedge trimmer. They had the best prices and recommendations, far better then Home Depot and other independent small equipment dealers
Today I needed a tune up kit for my blower for a miner tune up I was doing my self. Picked up a spark plug, fuel filter which I never even knew it had until they told me. Also picked up some Echo power blend oil for the gas tank… everything out the door was $ 19.60…my own labor, and its simple and easy.
Just a little bit of up sale on some alternative gasoline products and fuel stabilizer but not that pushy at all. I guess they wouldn’t be doing their job if they didn’t at least try to sell some other products based on my needs. .no issues with this…
I might mention they have a hugh selection of ECHO power equipment, I didn’t check prices today because I was there for tune up parts, but five or six years ago I purchased all my ECHO equipment from them because of price, location and one on one personal service… I also used them for some minor tune ups on a lawn mower years ago, reasonable pricing and not a long wait, they did a good job!
ECHO BRAND IN MY OPINION IS WORTH PAYING EXTRA FOR LONGEVITY. USING A COMMERCIAL GRADE BLOWER, WEED WACKER OR HEDGE TRIMMER FOR RESIDENTIAL USE IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD… THEY LAST 3 TIMES LONGER THEN OTHER BRANDS… IN THE LONG RUN YOU SAVE MONEY AND GRIEF… BOTTOM LINE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

I brought my mower in when it stopped working all of a sudden. They looked at it right away and fixed it on the spot. They showed me everything I need to know about how to maintain the mower and volunteered to assist me with it anytime I needed help. Very friendly and professional. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service.

Professional Service, Reasonable prices. No up-​sale type of straight shooter staff. Highly recommended. I drove from Cardiff and did not regret the extra drive. If ever looking for quality lawn care items I will skip home depot and head straight to these guys!

We have been going to Western Mower for many years now. They always provide excellent service and are very knowledgeable about their products. We took our 12 year old blower to them. We fully expected to need to buy a new blower, but they helped us with a simple repair to get it working again. Many other businesses would have just sold us a new blower. We plan to keep doing business with them for all our yard equipment needs for a very long time.

I’ve been going here for 5 years since I moved to Poway. I’m not one to write a review based on a single experience (good or bad) I think that in fairness you have to give a place of business a few tries and then formulate your opinion. I’ve always had top notch service and advice from Marty and his staff. He gets 5 stars from me. If you are the type that will buy a chainsaw, run it for one day and put it away and then piss and moan when it doesn’t start right up a year later… go to Sears and get yourself a piece of crap Craftsman and either throw it away when you are done or be prepared to shell out what you paid for it in repair bills. Marty sells quality equipment and his staff knows what they are doing. I’ve purchased several pieces of equipment from him and with proper care and maintenance, I haven’t had a single glitch. Excellent customer service, Fair prices, professional advice and quality products. I highly recommend Western Mower & Engine.

I’ve been dealing with these guys for 20 years now. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty numerous times for me. I can’t say enough good things about their thorough knowledge and complete customer service. Thanks to what I have learned from these guys, my 18yr old split boom weed whacker, my 16 yr old saw and my 15 yr old mowers are still running and performing brilliantly.

My plate compactor sat outside for a few months and the gas had gone bad and wouldn’t start. Machine also needed a new throttle cable and pull start handle.
I was working hard and didn’t want to do the work myself and chase parts. My instructions were to drain gas /​clean tank and replace parts.
I got a call from the owner and he reported it needed a new gas tank and carburetor. When I took it in, the mechanic told me it needed a new gas tank w. superficial rust on the outside but no rust or corrosion on the inside.
Not wanting to spend $ 200. I picked it up and brought it home.
I was dumbfounded to find the same old gas in the tank. ALL THEY DID WAS REPLACE THE PULL START HANDLE. I set to work and removed tank, cleaned and refilled w/​fresh gas, the machine fired right up !!
Reported my experience to owner and he said «there’s a right way and a wrong way of doing things.» Yea… I get it! Charge for unnecessary parts and labor and ignore customer request. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY AND THE $ 30 THEY CHARGED ME!

I let the owner, Marty, know that I was looking for some used lawn-​care equipment. Within a few days, he had found a great deal for me on a lawn mower and weed whip that he also tuned up before I picked them up from his shop.
The two individuals working at the counter were friendly and helpful. One of the guys actually folded up the lawn mower and put it in my car (just a sedan!) for me.
When I first went to use the weed whip, I couldn’t remember how to get it started. I called Marty and he walked me through it.
