Sarju B Patel, DDS

I was a client in February 2015. The reason this review comes so much later is because I just had a cleaning today with my new dentist. I had to change dentists because Dr. Patel’s office no longer accepts Anthem HMO.
First the good: All of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. They always reply very quickly to my emails, and provide excellent customer service. the waiting area is pleasant, and the receptionist was engaging and made me feel welcome. Dr. Patel also exhibits very good customer service, and is also very friendly.
Now the reason I didn’t give this place more stars: They charged me for a deep cleaning, which my insurance didn’t cover, and I assumed they gave me one. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I just got done with a REAL deep cleaning at my new dentist who was astounded that I had as much tarter on my teeth for having apparently had a deep cleaning 8 months prior. Now before you think I am a disgusting human being who probably never brushes or flosses that would have led to this much tarter build up, I brush with an electric toothbrush at least once a day, most of the time twice, I try to floss daily but I still need to work on it, and I use mouth wash regularly. My dentist complimented my brushing, in fact, and just told me that I wasn’t flossing correctly or often enough and that the tarter had been building up for a long time.
Bottom line is, I paid out of pocket for a procedure that I did not receive, or if I did receive it, was done very very poorly. Not only that, but I would not have known any better if I hadn’t gone elsewhere, and could have easily been charged for other procedures down to road with similar results, if any.
I hope I am the only one who has experienced this, as everything else about the experience was positive, but I feel betrayed and taken advantage of, and I will not recommend this dentist to anyone for that reason.

My big complaint is their billing/​customer service. I had to cancel an appointment the day before. My kid got sick and I couldn’t bring her with me. Since I didn’t give 24 hours notice (called afternoon day before my morning appointment) I had to pay the $ 25 cancellation fee. Makes complete sense, even though they can waive it if they wish. I took up a slot where they could’ve made money so I should’ve paid and I did without a complaint. Ironically enough before my next appointment I received a call in the morning saying they had to cancel my 2pm appointment as they changed up their insurance acceptance list. I had made that appointment about a month ahead of time. I had already built my work and kids pickup schedule around that appointment. They called far less than 24 hours ahead of time. I’m still waiting for my $ 25 cancellation fee… obviously that’s not going to happen, but you can’t have a policy for your customers and not abide by it yourself. That’s why they get 1 star from me.
Other than that though — Solid & friendly dentist and staff. Great 360 x-​ray machine. Old office, could use some updates.

Sarju Patel is so awesome! BEST dentist I’ve ever been to! I hadn’t been to the dentist in 4 years and I was so nervous thinking that I might get some bad news like my teeth were falling out. I’d been to previous dentist who told me I needed all kinds of work done and a mouth guard all of these things that were expensive and made me nervous. Sarju really works with you and puts you at ease when he personally goes over all of the good things and bad things that could possibly be wrong with your teeth. He gives you options that are more inexpensive. Sarju and his whole staff don’t pressure you into feeling like you have to sell your left kidney just to pay for all of your dental work. They never make me wait long, they really respect the patients time and I really appreciate that. I have finally found a dentist that I love. I have been referring anyone and everyone who has complained of their current dentist or in need of finding one they can trust. Sarju is definitely a dentist you can trust! I look forward to going to the dentist now!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Patel for 10+ years and I am extremely pleased wth his services. I started going there because of a co-worker’s recommendation, and I have recommended his office to many other people. They are very friendly and do good work.

Going to te Dentist is never a fun, especially when one has alot of old dental work that is failing. A friend reccomended Dr Patel to me and I am very please and thankful for the gentle care and professionalism that they give their patients… I had a lot of unhappy experiences with dentist in the past, so it was a releif to find a great dentist that I will continue to visit… The entire staff is fantastic!

Dr. Patel has been my dentist for over 15 years. He is truly amazing and can’t imagine ever changing.

My family and I have been coming here for well over 10 years now because we absolutely love the whole staff. From the technicians to Dr. Patel himself, everybody is friendly and professional. They never pressure you into anything, only give sound advice, and do great work.

Pomerado Family Dental is a small, cohesive practice run by one dentist, Dr. Patel. He is a kind, honest man that my family of 4 has gotten to know quite well in the 10 years that we have been his patients. He and his staff are thorough and gentle, and unlike practices my family had visited in the past, there is no hard sell of unnecessary services. His office is equipped with the latest technology and the care that we have received there has been outstanding. Maria, at the front desk, is a joy to deal with. Not only is she personable, she is also very capable. Insurance questions are answered promptly and efficiently. Our experiences with Pomerado Family Dental have only been positive.

Came to this dentist with my costco HMO dental plan. They tried to up-​sell me everything they had available… deep cleaning… bite guard… etc etc. and did not want to simply clean my teeth under the plan. Dentist was cold and uncaring. They did an inadequate cleaning on my teeth and sent me away. ARROGANT AND GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY. Don’t treat latinos fairly!!! I Will NEVER be returning!!!

Dr. Patel’s office is super friendly and caring. Dr Patel and his technicians are very gentle and do a marvelous job. I have been going to Pomerado Family Dental for over 10 years and have always been happy with my treatment My husband goes to them and so does my 7yr old granddaughter. They are very considerate of your pocketbook and try to help you with the financial end of their service.
If you need a new dentist, give them a try. You’ll be happy you did and you’ll have a dentist for life.

Dr. Patel and the entire staff at Pomerado Family Dental are awesome! I always wondered why people have been afraid to go to the dentist. That’s because they haven’t gotten worked on by Dr. Patel and his assistant:) Routine cleanings are super gentle and don’t leave your gums feeling ultra swollen/​sore after the flossing portion, the office and rooms are kept immaculately clean, Dr. Patel is very thorough in explaining every procedure and Maria at the front desk is very friendly and super personable.
I live in Normal Heights, now, but will continue to make the drive up to them for all of my dental needs. Thanks!

I have been coming to Pomerado Family Dental for a few years and I have nothing but great things to say about the dentist and the staff. He is honest and very thorough. He explains all details of procedures and makes sure you are comfortable every step of the way.

I had the same dentist for 35 years. When he retired, I had to find a new dentist which is extremely difficult. I went to a couple and all they told me was that my perfect teeth for 35 years all of a sudden needed a lot of work? I don’t think so! UPDATE-​I went for an appointment today 4÷10÷14 and I failed to mention that Dr Patel keeps up with new technology. Today I had X-​rays taken on a new machine which goes around your head while you stand still. No more painful bite wings or heavy probes in your mouth. Thank you Dr Patel.
