Established in 1982.

Established in 1982, Oak Knoll Montessori has a highly qualified, experienced faculty, with Candy Young as Executive Director. Most teachers have been associated with the school for 10 to more than 20 years. They are college educated and Montessori trained. The dedicated faculty work to provide an excellent education for young children in a comfortable and relaxed environment. This can be felt in the nurturing atmosphere, where children express joy in learning with friends and teachers. The school was originally located on Oak Knoll Road, and has been at its current location at 15 010 Pomerado Road in Poway since 2006.

Business Owner

Candy Young has her Montessori Primary Credential from the Montessori Teachers’ College in San Diego, which is affiliated with AMS (American Montessori Society). Mrs. Young also holds California public school teaching credentials, including a specialist credential in early childhood education. Her M.A. is in psychology, with an emphasis in child development. She has taught from preschool to university level in her 35-​year career in education. Her experience in working with young children and their parents continually reaffirms the principle that «Every child is a gift. Therefore, every child is gifted.» Every child has unique talents, interests, and individual learning styles. With encouragement and loving guidance, each child can reach his or her full potential.
