Nakamura Acupuncture

I cant say enough about Nakamura Acupuncture. The pills I was given by my primary care physician and the physical therapy proscribed by the sports medicine doctor had no appreciable affect on my arthritis of the knees. And was told that there was nothing they could do for what they described as minor arthritis of the hand which interfered with almost everything I did.
After my first visit, my hand was almost pain free, and The pain in my knees and calves was much better.
I went in today, with pretty swollen feet, and within the therapy session the swelling was reduced enough that my sandals didn’t make marks when i took them off.
It is working. My pain is much less and my ability to do things is returning to normal. There are a lot of acupuncturist out there, but She is knowledgable, and explains what she is doing in terms which are understandable… the bottom line is I would recommend her to anyone. I could not be happier with the care and improvement i am receiving through Nakamura Acupuncture.

I used to have chronic knee problems and knee pain. Part of it was due to my weight and part of it was due to previous sports injuries and believing that I was impervious when I was younger. It was debilitating (not only physically but emotionally) as I enjoyed being active and I would always «play through» the pain or when it was bad enough would sideline me completely. I met Setsuko when she was actually still interning which was not at all believable as she conducted and carried herself as someone who had been in practice for many years. I want to note that by the time I saw Setsuko I had been suffering through severe pain for 6 months and taking all sorts of pain medications and anti-​inflammatory drugs. I had also seen a few other licensed acupuncturists who were suppose to be her seniors with no relief of any kind. I had about given up when I decided to take one last shot at it. After just a few treatments from her my knee started feeling and getting better! And not only better but stronger! After a handful more treatments BOTH my knees felt like they were brand new. I never knew that it would be possible… SHE made it possible. Since then she has been able to help me with my diabetes, my weight, other ortho related issues, and a myriad of other health needs. Admittedly I haven’t had to have an appointment with her for a long time now but that’s a result of her not only addressing my health issues and concerns but also empowering and teaching me how to maintain optimal health on my own. I haven’t felt this great, or even looked this great :-), in a very long time. I no longer feel imprisoned by my health but empowered to take control of it.
Setsuko is an extremely gifted healer and very capable practitioner. She not only brings a wealth of knowledge from years of experience and training but an energy that is not only warm and calming but that of healing and compassion. She not only works to address the health issues and concerns that you have but also works with you to better understand the root of the issues.
She believes that your health and well being is a «team» effort that involves you as much as it does her and that you reap what you sow. That it’s about the past, present, and future. That optimal health is not only in a healthy lifestyle and in the physical but the mental and emotional as well. If your content on continuing to do what you’re doing and just «getting by» and taking a back seat with your health then stay there. However, if you’re tired of feeling the way you do, tired of being in pain, and tired of just «getting by» and «living through it» then drop the bag of chips and get off the couch and go see her NOW!!! When you live with chronic pain, it takes up a lot of space in your life. Until I met Setsuko (Nakamura Acupuncture), I hadn’t realized how many ways pain controlled my choices, emotions and relationships. I am a 59 year old heavyset gal who’s lived with chronic arthritic knees & back pain for years. I’ve tried knee braces, heat, ice and lived on pain meds… until now.
Setsuko has applied acupuncture in two sessions, and already I do not need a brace, or even otc perscriptions for pain. My pain has been alleviated-​in ONE week!
Setsuko has a gentle, calming effect as she explains each and every step. I thought the process would be somewhat painful, and it is not. I’m looking forward to future visits regarding other ongoing issues.

I came in to Nakamura Acupuncture with muscle spasms and back pain after my HMO sent me home with Flexeril and hopelessness. I had never had this type of treatment before, but I was ready to take a chance on something new when the old way just wasn’t working anymore. After my first session I had no more pain or spasms, and haven’t needed so much as an aspirin in 3 weeks. I had two sessions with her total and will not hesitate to call her in the future first. Setsuko’s calm and caring manner were only second to her knowledge and skill. I can’t say enough about her and have shared my experience with everyone I know. She is easy to find, just off of Poway Rd and Pomerado. Put any trepidation aside about acupuncture and let her ease your pain. I am so glad I did!

Setsuko has an amazing calming energy when you are on the table and getting treated. She has an intuitive nature and knows instinctively what your body needs. She is also very knowledgeable and gives detailed answers to your questions so that you have a better understanding of what is going on. I always leave my sessions with her feeling better and clearer minded. I would highly recommend coming to see her for any ailments, physical or emotional.
