Specialties
We cherish the relationships that we have developed with our clients and their pets over the years and consider them an extended part of our Midland Animal Clinic family. We strive to provide comfort and care for our patients and want to be known as the place to go when you have concerns about your pets.
History
Established in 1972.
Midland Animal Clinic has been a vibrant part of Poway for over 40 years. Dr. John Augustine and his wife, Diana, moved to Poway from Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1972 and fell in love with the hillsides and open space. They immediately knew that Poway was a place they wanted to stay long-term and develop roots, so Dr. Augustine purchased an old home on Midland Road in 1973 and converted it to be used as an animal hospital. His vision was to create a practice where all clients, patients, and staff are treated like family. As a result, Midland Animal Clinic quickly became part of the community and Dr. Augustine became known as the local family vet.
Meet the Business Owner
John A.
Business Owner
Dr. John Augustine, the founding Veterinarian of Midland Animal Clinic, grew up on a farm surrounded by animals in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He received a BS in Biology from New Mexico State University and then served as a lieutenant in the army medical corp. in Vietnam. Following his military service he earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. He and his wife, Diana, moved to San Diego in 1972 to be near better medical facilities for their developmentally disabled daughter, Annette. Dr. Augustine was instrumental in founding the FFA at Poway High School, and was an active guiding hand in the various 4H animal clubs for many years. Because of his love of the area, he served on the Old Poway Committee during the formative years. His favorite part of practice is the relationships he has developed with his clients and their pets.
