Welcome to Gateway Dentistry in Poway! Dr. Ilien Minter and the Gateway Dentistry team are pleased to provide the finest in Family and Cosmetic dentistry. Patients come to Gateway Dentistry from throughout the San Diego area because they know they will always receive the personal attention that is our trademark. Each member of our team is dedicated to ensuring our patients feel well-​informed and comfortable at all times. At Gateway Dentistry, there are no surprises: we will never begin a treatment or procedure until our patient has had all of his or her questions answered and feels completely at ease. Business Owner

Dr. Minter has been active in the San Diego dental community for over 10 years. A graduate from the prestigious University of the Pacific (UOP) School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA, Dr. Minter received her B.S. in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience at UCSD Revelle College. Dr. Minter has lived in San Diego for over 15 years and is a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Rancho Penasquitos. Her hobbies include snowboarding, and playing both the classical guitar and the French horn. She also enjoys community service, OLMC church community, and spending time with her family.

I love this dentist. It took me a while to find a great dentist in San Diego, but I’m so glad I was referred here by a friend. I have been going here for about 9 months and I don’t think I’ve ever even sat in the waiting room because they are always ready for me.
During my cleaning appointments, they are very detail-​oriented and take their time.
Also, I’ve had a few fillings and chips fixed and Dr. Minter and her associates are absolutely amazing! First, she’s so genuinely friendly and really takes the time to hear your concerns and address them. I had to get a shot of whatever they numb you up with, and I didn’t feel it at all! I would seriously trust Dr. Minter with my life, she is so great at what she does.
And one of my favorite things is that I have never had any problems with getting things covered by my insurance. The associates at the office know what my coverage is, so they can give me estimates, and the insurance EOB’s are always processed quickly.

I’m glad others have had good experiences here. I’ve been a patient here for the last 15 years when Dr. Booth had the practice and have become increasingly dissatisfied since she sold the practice. I mostly kept going because my dental hygienist there is AWESOME. Since Dr. Booth sold the practice I have felt that the care is more about dollars — I’m not so much a patient as a potential revenue source. I also think they are farming out the practice to other dentists? The dentist I was scheduled to see isn’t even on the door or listed anywhere in the practice (or on their site) so I don’t even know what credentials they have. It was 15 minutes AFTER my appointment time that I was told that the doctor was running another 45 minutes late and would I like to reschedule my appointment. I understand things happen but would’ve preferred a phone call to reschedule BEFORE I got there rather than making the drive up there and waiting 15 mins and THEN being told the doctor wouldn’t be able to see me (this was after they took my money for the procedure too).

Dr. Gernhofer is great! Highly recommend. He is skillful and gentle. Best thing is, he gives good honest opinions. I trust him. He is not greedy like the other guys in town whom I found very hard to trust… After all, when I go to a doc, I just want him to treat me and talk to me like I’m one of his family members.

I have been going to Gateway Dentistry for years now. Over 20 years ago I went to the practice with Dr. Booth, then it transitioned into Gateway I am not sure how long ago and Dr. Minter has since taken over the practice. I will say that I actually enjoy going to the dentist, despite having lot of work done. About ten years ago I tried another dentist, but went back to Gateway because the other dentist told me I needed I lots of work I did not need. Not only is all their staff really nice, they are honest and fair about what needs to get done. If I have questions they answer them and I have never felt pressured into getting any work done like I experienced at the other place. I have recommended many people and they have all liked it.

I started going to Dr. Minter after I moved here from Alabama. It had been years since I had gone to a dentist. Southern medicine was still a little primitive. I experienced great pain and tears at my last dentist appointment in Alabama. I was hesitant when I moved to San Diego but knew it was in my best interest to have a dentist. Gateway dentistry won me over in 2006 and I have been a loyal customer since. I never fear any dental work that may be needed.

I went to Gateway Dentistry last week on a recommendation from a coworker. I was NOT disappointed! In fact, I was pleasantly surprised and walked out VERY happy! I had a cleaning done, which, due to sensitive gums, has generally been somewhat painful for me. But Stacey, the hygienist, was gentle and got my cleaning done with virtually no discomfort whatsoever. I was in the office again today for an evaluation with the dentist, Dr. Minter. A fellow musician, we immediately hit it off. She did a quick adjustment of a crown I had put on with my previous dentist, since I was having some sensitivity to cold, and she explained each step of the process. Being the curious type, I appreciate it greatly when people explain what they’re doing (or are about to do).
Dr. Minter, Stacey, the reception staff, and everyone I came into contact with at Gateway Dentistry were extremely friendly and courteous, and made me feel at home. I might actually enjoy visits to the dentist from now on!
I highly recommend Dr. Minter and Gateway Dentistry to anyone out there. Best dental office I’ve ever been to!

I have been a patient of this practice for over 8 years. The doctor is very nice and he is down to earth. They actually take the time to listen to your concerns and always have appointment availability. I really enjoy my visits to see him. Their fees are also very reasonable.
