A+ AUTOCARE

Took my VW Eurovan here after it died on me during a light rain and was towed in by a AAA-​friendly tow company. Turned out to be a cracked distributor cap.
Recommended a general tune up plus also a fuel system cleaning, throttle body cleaning, power steering flush (dirty fluid), and a new battery (my battery was at least 7 years old and I knew it was weak and I probably really killed it when trying to restart the dead car).
All of these items I thought to be reasonable. I didn’t find anything in the list that I felt was unnecessary. Some things could have waited, or at the very least all I needed was a new distributor cap and, but none struck me as entirely unnecessary, even if not all were urgent nor related to the immediate issue at hand.
They were able to get to my car in a reasonable amount of time (I used their shuttle to get to work in the industrial park up the hill) and were reasonably friendly to talk with. When all was said and done, the immediate issue was fixed (car is running again) and this other maintenance also done.
The main «gotcha» was I didn’t notice on my receipt that on the tuneup, I was charged for spark plugs twice. I went back the next day and inquired and they did agree it was a mistake. For reasons I don’t understand fully, they are not able to refund my credit card for the difference or void and re-​run the transaction after 24 hours but put a note on my account that I have a credit with them that I can use for my next visit.
Overall I would say the experience was good although just not perfect due to the billing issue and inablity to credit my CC for the overcharging. So this is why I will give 4 stars (better than most) but not 5. I did leave with a positive impression overall and would recommend them so far to anyone. Just make sure that you check your receipt carefully and don’t whiz over it (something one should always do at any repair place… make sure you understand the charges in detail and ask questions).

Superior customer service! I had Dave work on my car last week and he was very helpful and called me promptly, as soon as it was ready. I also received a follow up call inquiring how my car was doing after the repairs, which is rare for auto repair industry! I called yesterday because my car was making funny noises and they responded to the issue immediately telling me to come in this morning before work, to have my car checked. I probably waited about less than 5 minutes and Ryan was there to come along with me for a test drive to hear and assess the strange noise from my car. They addressed the minor problem, immediately, with no charge! And to my surprise, I made it in to work on time. These workers are very honest, helpful and thoughtful about their customers’ time. Best car repair service I have ever received! Very pleased!

Excellent knowledgeable mechanics. However, Al thinks charging 20% HIGHER than the dealer would charge me for a part is necessary to keep the lights on. Well he may keep the lights on, but not keep customers..

My truck went dead and was towed by AAA to this garage. Although they were swamped with business they got my car written up with a promise of a diagnosis the next day. Their diagnosis was that it was failed fuel pump as I had also guessed. They gave me an honest quote for repairs on the second day and was repaired and washed on the 3^rd day. Overall a great establishment with educated people.

The customer service here is amazing! Although their prices are a little on the high side, I would bring my car here no questions asked. All of the servicemen are honest and are very thorough in their craft. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone needing car repair stop at Poway.

Taken many of our cars here and never been disappointed in their work quality, professionalism or how they go beyond the call of duty. My Santa Fe, hubby’s Acura, sons G35 and then Olds… All done right. Highly recommend!

I haven’t been in the San Diego area for long, and have been struggling to find a decent car place. I don’t know a lot about cars and always feel like I get ripped off when I take my car in. Well, my search ends here! The guys at A+ autocare were amazing! I went in on a busy monday afternoon to get my side view mirror replaced and they squeezed me in no problem. When I got my total I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. They were very friendly and even washed my car after it was serviced (which is a nice perk!). I’m so glad I was introduced to this little gem and now won’t have a pit in my stomach every time I need my car tuned up!

I would recommend this auto shop to anyone that wants to get their car repaired right the first time. Their kindness is only matched by their talent and their integrity.

If anyone is reading the reviews and thinking about bring their vehicle to this shop, I suggest you first shop around for parts and labor. The fuel pump on my 1998 Ford failed and AAA recommended it be towed to A+. The guy in the office charged me $ 99.99 for a diagnostic but refused to give me the 10% AAA discount that they are advertising saying the diagnostic was not a «service.» He wanted another $ 929 for replacing the fuel pump and filter that he was going to buy from the nearby Ford dealership. I asked him about installing a less expensive aftermarket pump and he refused, claiming they were unsafe. I have a mechanical background and knew he was BS-​ing me. I already wrote on their drop-​off envelope that the fuel pump probably failed, and an Intenet search found pumps around $ 200-​$ 400 for my Ford. I had to tow my Ford to another shop and had it repaired for $ 509. I do not recommend A+ and feel they are unprofessional and unethical.

I’ve been taking my cars to A+ for at least 15 years. The work they’ve done for me has always been dependable and reasonably priced. I tend to keep my cars a long time and Al, Dave and Andy keep me on the road, and they understand the concept of «limited budget». More than any of that though is that I’ve always been confident that they are absolutely honest with me. I feel like I can trust their opinions implicitly. Honest, competent and reasonably priced. That’s really all I ask for.

Typical car repair place if your a woman. They tell you your car needs a bunch of «urgent» stuff it doesn’t really need. I’m not the typical woman — i actually KNOW my car. I had to bring my car here in a bind because it was unsafe to drive it to my mechanic. They tried REALLY hard to sell me on a bunch of other stuff that had nothing to do with what my car needed. Another thing that really bothered me about this place is that they placed «A+ Autocare» licence plate frames on my car without even asking. Took them right off and threw them away. Of course they are nice, because they want your money.

My family has been bringing our cars to A+ Autocare for the last 7 or 8 years. I believe the pricing is reasonable. I have always been able to have clear communication with the front desk staff (Dave and Al) and I have never felt patronized. They have always done a great job and they’re honest guys doing honest work. I couldn’t be happier with this place!

Leaning toward outrageously expensive, but quality of work is good and Dave is incredibly polite and thorough. Kept in great touch through the whole process and was upfront with options and information.

After years of taking my MB to the dealer for service, I realized that thay were not doing satisfactory work at a reasonable price. I asked around until the consensus was to go where you’ll get top grade service at fair prices — A+.
And they lived up to their name. My MB drives like it’s new again without that nagging feeling that I was overcharged. And the staff was super friendly.

We recently relocated from Texas. Knowing little about good auto repair shops in the area, when our Buick started having problem, we pretty much had to pick one auto shop by chance. We didn’t have good luck with the first one. After $ 400+, the car still stumbles under heavy acceleration. I finally made up my mind to spend more time researching the problem on my own and looking for a good auto repair shop in case it is beyond my capability to do the repair myself.
It turned out that replacing the spark plugs on my Buick was not as simple as I’d hoped. So I brought my car into this shop and asked for their help. Since I was there anyway, I asked them to do an diagnosis and find out what really was the problem. I explained to them what I had done so far.
What impressed me was that Dave, the service representative, suggested me to do the tune-​up first, since it was due anyway, and see if it helps with the problem, before spending the $ 99 diagnostic fee. I agreed to that, and after a new set of spark plugs and wires, the problem was gone.
I saved $ 99, thanks to Dave, and it was $ 99 extra that he could have made for his shop.
It is also nice that they washed and vacuumed my car before handing it back to me. They also provide free shuttle service for the area, although I didn’t use it.
I am taking one star away for them being pricy. But I will definitely bring my car back if I need repairs in the future. If I consistently receive good service and fair price, I will probably up the rating.

Had some serious alignment issues with my car. Recent rain created many potholes. Pot holes created a serious funk in my front steering. Called up two Costco tire service centers (Poway & Carmel Mt) asking for referral. They both suggested A+ Autocare. Two independent places referring to the same place, extra points in my book.
Called in and the Al was courteous and knowledgeable. Didn’t have an appointment. They were able to squeeze me in anyways. Work was performed the same day. Prices were reasonable.
Added bonuses, 10% discount for Costco referral, free car wash with service, free shuttle service in the area, and AAA approved! Apparently only 2% of auto places make the AAA certification. Found everyone I dealt with friendly and polite. I’m bringing my car here again.

Went in for the 60k mile service because it was cheap and I was tired of paying dealer prices. I called and they said it would take 2 hrs. Then when I got there, they said I should change fluid that the regular price only partially covered. It ended up being a 3 and a half hour ordeal. And now I’m paying just as much as I would have at a dealership.
I thought, fine. The car drives well, that’s ok. But the a week later I notice that a rubber flap under the front bumper was hanging and dragging on the ground. So not only are they expensive, but also sloppy.
What’s worse, I brought it in and they were rude. No sorry, no hello. «Keys.» apparently that’s how you ask to see my keys.
I’ll stick with the dealer thanks.
