Dr. Stone is a pretty amazing veterinarian. We came in with a severely injured chicken. After stabilizing her he came to talk to us about next steps. His kindness and groundedness helped us make a difficult decision. We felt understood, empathized with and supported. This all in addition to sound medical advice. What an unexpectedly great experience — we were grateful for his skill and compassion at a time when we really needed the help.

I just called here to inquire about their X-​ray services. I just wanted a general price range of what the service could cost, even a starting price would have sufficed. Every other clinic I called was able to give me at least a starting price. I was told by the receptionist that she does not have that information, and that the only thing she could tell me is that it would be $ 110 just to be seen. Wow, thanks for nothing!

Our puppy was attacked by a pitbull over the weekend while we were visiting family. It was incredibly traumatic and terrifying not being able to go to our regular vet. At Animal Emergency and Trauma Center they were AMAZING. They took such good care of our baby, were communicative and patience with us (I was particularly emotional.) They made a very traumatic experience for our family so much better. I don’t know what we would have done without them and can’t thank the girls we worked with enough, Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! We are so happy to have our little one home and safe.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Why? Worst care possible! Refused treatment even though we have 50% for «deposit for hospitalization» due to hip displacement on family dog. Sent him home friday with displaced hip, cannot see another vet that will work with payments until monday!!! They are THE ONLY clinic around that’s open on weekends! Scam artists! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! DOES NOT MEET VETERINARIAN OATH

I had to write an update after the most recent experience I had with them last week. We had to put our sweet kitty down after a 6 month battle with a throat tumor. We were hoping to be able to take him in to our usual vet but sadly he was taking a turn for the worst and we had to take him in to the emergency center. I called ahead of time and let them know what was going on and when we arrived, their staff was so incredibly kind to us. They set up a room with a nice blanket and lots of tissues for the hysterical parents and let us take as much time as we needed. Their nurse came in and explained what was going to happen and then left us alone for us to say goodbye to our best friend. Before they put him down they took an ink paw print so we could have a keepsake along with setting up the cremation service. The vet came in and told us what she was going to do and what we could expect and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye. Once it was over, she left us alone again to say our final goodbyes. When I walked out of the room, the receptionist gave me a hug and said how sorry she was and it felt so genuine that I knew she couldn’t have been saying it just to make me feel better. The absolute worst night of our lives was made so much easier by the kind and caring staff here. I hope no one ever has to experience what we did that night but if you do, know the staff will take the very best care of you and your loving pet.

We are also recent transplants to the area (common theme in these reviews LOL) and of course dog emergencies for us always happen after hours. At 5am, my dog woke me, stumbling around, and vomiting. I took him right in (after calling a few local vets numbers and this one being suggested on all their answering services.) They got him in immediately and helped calm my nerves about if it was serious or not (because it always seems serious to dog-​mamas!)
The knock down on the star is for the price, $ 110 just to be seen. I paid less than that for after hours care in Hawaii. But of course my dog is worth any price, so I paid it. We were there about 10 minutes total.

I moved to Washington from Indiana in June. I have not found a vet yet, and was completely distraught when my cat stopped eating and could barely keep his eyes open on Thanksgiving morning. Everywhere else seemed closed so I was thrilled they could see us immediately.
It turns out he ate almost a whole spool’s worth of thread and it was wrapped around his stomach and lodged in his small intestine. They explained their plan and the methods they would take to remove the string while remaining understanding, professional, and incredibly caring.
It ended up being less than their original estimate and they took amazing care of him both in surgery and over night. I’m so grateful they were there for him.

So thankful that this place exists.
Last night I turned around in my chair to find my pug puppy licking clean the little plastic tub that once contained fudge. I remembered having accidentally called my regular vet too early in the morning for business hours and that I had been auto-​connected to an emergency vet; it turned out to be these guys, in Poulsbo. It was between one and one-​thirty in the morning when I got there.
The woman who took my call, answered the door, did the calculations for dosages and treatment, weighed my dog, and acted as the receptionist for my check-​out was really great. She explained the costs of everything they’d be doing for Zelda in advance. We were in and out in less than an hour. Zelda seemed totally fine, trotting around the waiting room as I paid before we left, in spite of what must have been a pretty yucky experience. They even faxed a report of what happened to my regular vet so that her medical file would be complete.
It’s very reassuring to know that these guys are available to me for any emergency issues that may come up in the future outside of my vet’s regular hours.

Updating my review 5/27/14…My puppy broke his leg this past Friday before Memorial day weekend around 4pm. I went to the Animal ER. A receptionist was there but unfortunately no vets or techs were on duty until 6pm. She recommended two vets in Poulsbo. I went to both vets and was told they could diagnose but could not do anything for my puppy. I was disgusted. I understand 4pm on Friday is not an ideal time to bring an animal in for care but it was an emergency. I took my puppy back home and waited around for an hour then took him back to the ER. The vet tech was quick to look at him and when the vet arrived she came straight in to see my puppy. She had him x-​rayed, on pain medication and in a cast fairly quickly. They told me exactly what it would cost before proceeding and made everything very clear regarding how much medication to give him and follow up information.
Called at 6am on a Monday. Dog had eaten chocolate on Thursday and was defecating blood. They told me to come on in. Vets & techs were great with my dog. Communicated very clearly and upfront with costs which was appreciated. Wish they were a regular vet so I could take my dog there for his yearly checkups.

This is a wonderful place to turn to when you are your pet is sick and its outside of the normal business hours. We had to go on Dec 24^th, how much a worse can it be? We were met with lovely caring people. They took wonderful care of my dog, cked on him in the following days, came and got me in the car, sleeping when they were ready to send my Max well past midnight. Go without hesitation.

I took my dog in last night because she has been scratching herself, vomitting, refusing to eat, drinking very little, and became very lethargic (not even lifting her head when I called her name). I first called and gave them a run down of what was a matter. The receptionist put me on hold to run the symptoms by a vet tech, who suggested that the amount of vomitting and refusal to eat or drink could be something serious, and that I should bring her in. I inquired over the phone about the examination fee, and she informed me that it would cost about $ 110 to be seen, plus additional for whatever tests or medicines were needed.
I brought her in, and after filling out a brief amount of paperwork, was immediatly taken back to a room. (Although, it didn’t appear that anyone else was even there). The vet tech asked a bunch of questions and took her temp and respiration, and informed me the doctor was finishing up a surgery so it may be a little while. It probably took about half an hour for the doctor to come in. We had Dr. Shelby Watson, and she was awesome! Very kind and genuinely concerned. She asked me a few more questions, and took a look at her. She pointed out that her skin was warm and that her belly and ears were very red, which brought her to the conclusion that it was definitely an allergic reaction. She said that because of how sudden the symptoms came on and because there was no change to her diet or activities, that it was likely an insect sting or spider bite. She ordered her two shots, one antihistamine and one steroid, that the techs came in to administer and a 3 days worth of prednisone pills. A tech came in to review the discharge paperwork and give me the pills, and ask if I had any questions. By the time we were ready to leave, my dog was already walking around. We got home and she immediatly ate and drank. I’m very pleased with the diagnosis and treatment provided. I was worried there would be many unnecessary tests done just to try to weasel more money from me, but there was none of that. Everything was very professional. If I had one complaint, it would be that the vet tech Jessica, was not very friendly and kept looking at me like I was stupid when I would answer her questions. She also called my dog grumpy because she growled when she entered the room. but she was sick!
Overall, I am very pleased. The bill ended up coming out to $ 183 for the exam fee and medicines. Not nearly as bad as I had anticipated! I live in Port Orchard and it was well worth the drive. The only reason I give 4 stars is because I’m not a fan of the exam fee and the unfriendly vet tech.
Update 6÷1÷13
To update (I realize it’s 2 years late, but I’ve never updated!), unfortunately this visit was not the end our our troubles. Within another day she was «sicker than a dog» again. I was able to get her in with a local vet this time. He was very adamant that she had an infection of some sort, tested her white blood cell count and it was VERY low. Long story short — she had Pyometra (a uterine infection because she was 6 years old and hadn’t been spayed).
From this update, I’m taking a couple of stars away for the incorrect diagnosis. I am VERY thankful that they were able to make her comfortable enough to walk out of there, but at the end of the day, I spent $ 110 for a wrong diagnosis. I wish they would have at least recognized that she showed signs of infection and tested her white blood cell count so that she could have been prescribed an antibiotic. Or recognized that she was 6 years old, not spayed, and had never carried a litter (which further increases the chances of uterine infection).
To sum it up:
1. Get your dogs spayed! Don’t make the same mistake I did! Pyometra is VERY COMMON if you don’t!
2. While my money could have been better spent with a correct diagnosis, I am thankful (and not regretful to have spent it) that they eased her misery enough to hold her over until I could get her in with a regular vet.

Their 24-​hour hotline was a godsend two weeks ago when I arrived home late in the evening to find my dog had eaten a potted tulip plant — blossoms, stem, leaves AND bulb!
A quick Google search later, this dog-​mom frantically calls Animal Emergency because, as it turns out, tulips are toxic. The receptionist helped calm me down and I was only on hold for a short time while I awaited a veterinary technician to become available.
They asked detailed questions about my pet and what he had consumed. They calmly and clearly explained the treatment I needed to administer at home, and made sure to ask if I was able to administer it without assistance.
Barring the gory details, their prescribed treatment worked as expected. I called to follow up and they were genuinely happy to hear that my dog was ok, and were glad to answer my follow-​up questions.
I reserve one star because they neglected to tell me that my dog’s next meal should be smaller as his stomach would likely still be upset. Hindsight is 20/​20, and I suppose it’s common sense, but their reminder would have saved me more worry the next morning when he didn’t keep his breakfast down.
All things considered, I am very grateful to them for helping me keep my dog from becoming seriously ill. Their assistance was efficient, professional and personal (even over the phone), and that is what is important.

Would give 3.5 stars but am unable to. Responsive, complete and accurate diagnosis of my dog when I had to take her in on a late holiday night. Did not try to oversell me on additional tests and such and called the following day to see how she was doing.
A bit pricey which is to be expected but all in all, a good experience and I would use them again if I need to but of course, I hope to not
