Changed names. Now called Poughkeepsie Inn. Priced good, when compared with others…

This place is YUCKYUCKANDMOREYUCK! Here’s a fun fact for you — that brick standalone building in the back? Lock up your kids, people, because there’s always a few sex offenders settin’ up shop there(don’t believe me — check for yourself on line). The rooms are DISGUSTING. When I did stay there in my younger days, I couldn’t bear to check the beds for bed bugs… but c’mon, if clean places are getting them, how can this place NOT have them? I think they just changed ownership recently and I hope since it is a truly convenient location that they can clean this place up! Just all around nastiness!

I booked a room here out of desperation as there wasn’t really anything else available close to Vassar. + The price was right($ 89/night with tax), but«you get what you pay for» as they say. Staff was really nice and friendly, linens and towels were spotless. No bugs or anything. - The whole place just smells weird, even the hotel lobby. It’s not a cigarette or an animal smell though. Perhaps they use a cleaning product that my nose isn’t used to? When you check-in, they hand you a remote control for the TV which you take with you to your room. This means that you have a lot of people walking around in public with remote controls, which just reminded me of The Jerk or something(«All I need is my thermos, my toothbrush, and this here remote control…»). Overall, just an old hotel that could probably use a full-on renovation sometime. But maybe they don’t get enough people staying there to make it worth their time?
