My son treated me to a Mother’s Day brunch here last year, I was very disappointed, the food was horrible serve cold, our waitress had an attitude this place is dark maybe it’s to hide the cobwebs. It’s overpriced and outdated, this use to be one of my favorite place to eat, but no longer.

Incredibly rude staff. Called twice to ask a simple question; the first time, I was put on hold for more than 5 minutes, and the second time I was legit hung up on. Also, I’ve eaten here before and food is sub-par to say the least.

Love the people but bathrooms(upstairs and downstairs) are in bad shape. If you can see past that it’s a good place

I had the chicken parm with spaghetti and it was very good. We ordered the fried mozzarella for an appetizer and we thought it might be fried mozzarella triangles but it ended up being just mozzarella sticks, but they were still good. The salad was very good, but the croutons were very stale. The breadstick they served were on the bland side. Overall I thought the food was really good. Other than the food, the dining room was very dark. Service was okay, our service was a little slow but not terrible.

Best Sunday brunch. My family has been coming here for years. It’s great for all ages and taste buds. The omelet station is wonderful as well. The staff and owners are very friendly and very accommodating for small and large group. Absolutely recommend you try it.

service was very slow and partial not any fault to the waitress considering she was the only one on the floor during dinner service. ordered the filet mignon which was not cooked to medium rare but well and extremely chewy and inedible. chicken dish was good. gnocchi dish was unpleasant and dough was over worked or overlooked. seafood pasta was good except the overly stewed calamari that tasted frozen and old. I would suggest they hire more waitstaff and educate them on the wine they serve. disappointing graduation dinner :/

When we walked in, we stood at the front while several staff just walked by us without saying a word. I understand that you are busy but a simple«Someone will be right with you» goes a long way. When we finally got seated we felt like we were in a cave because the lighting is TERRIBLE! I saw patrons at other tables with flashlights out trying to read their menus. There was some kind of large group event happening in the next room and there were a lot of young teenage boys there that kept literally running through the rest of the dining room and our table shook so hard that I thought my drink was going to spill. Add to that the staff running through shaking the table as well. Our drinks were decent but definitely not the best either of us have ever has. His lime in his drink was brown and even after we asked the server for another lime that one was brown as well. Our server was training someone and the trainee was the one who brought out our soups and our entrees. We didn’t see the server again until we were almost done with our meals. As for the food, It was decent. My boyfriend had the rigatoni carbonora and there was WAY too much sauce on the plate. His pasta was swimming in it. My spaghetti with marinara and chicken was fairly good. When the check came, we were looking at the pricing and noticed that we were charged differently for both of our meals than the menu stated. It was only $ 1.50 but it was the principle at this point. The manager gave us the money back but he didn’t seem at all concerned that they were overcharging people. This is not a restaurant that we will be returning to. The service and lighting were terrible and the tables are so close together that I had to listen to every single word of the conversations of those around me. If you want Italian food, I suggest you go elsewhere.

My wife and I ate here the last two nights. The first night, I had the Capellini Provencale and my wife had the«House Made Lasagna». Both entrees were good. They were served hot and in a timely manner. The second night I had the Tilapia Frencese and my wife had the Pollo Con Spinace. They were served hot and in a timely manner. But for us the highlight of our meals was the soup. The Escarole was great!

Perhaps one of the worst«Italian» served food this side of the Hudson(if you even call that). And the best part is that the kitchen staff don’t give a **** what critics/reviewers say since this is one of those establishments that’s been around the highway for so long(est. 1961) and they never really bothered with the times. We ended up here because there was no other place to eat closeby by the Hampton Inn and being stuck in the hotel during a snowstorm. The Manhattan clam chowder was very thick, had leftover calamari from the night before, and cold as gazpacho. The Mixed Grill contained a ‘filet mignon’, breaded chicken & shrimp scampi that was soaked with what they call a ‘mushroom sauce’ that tasted from a can. The NY Strip was okay in that the person who cooked it really made an effort in making it medium rare. The baked potato was dry as eating baking powder in a box. The only highlight was the house salad, the bread with olive oil and of course the Chardonnay because they had to open a fresh bottle. We give kudos to our server who actually cared about her customers and kept apologizing for the mishaps of the menu and the lack of effort the kitchen puts out. Perhaps we should have just ordered pizza.

I don’t know why this place has such a bad rep! Dinner salad and penne ala vodka was delicious. Love the ambiance and the staff.

Overall not good for the price. Visited while staying at hotel next door. Saturday evening dinner service. First, I must say the server was very nice and friendly and deserves 4 stars. Unfortunately the rest of the experience leaves much to be desired. The décor is dark and dim and tacky. It was also sweltering(on a somewhat cool evening). The portions are generous and that makes up for the less than stellar quality. I had bruschetta as a starter. The bread was soggy and the topping was watery. bruschetta should be crisp and zesty but this was soggy and bland. Next came bread, which were very stale and lukewarm. With the bread came the house salad. The sparse vegetables seemed fresh, the salad did not. Too much dressing. The main course was Chicken Parmigiana. It was a very large piece of chicken but it tasted as if it came from frozen. The cheese was waxy and overdone. The sauce was ok but it was very very salty and also did not taste terribly fresh. Side was mixed vegetable medley that, again, was a large portion but was overcooked and soggy. The staff was reasonable and nice but the food leaves much to be desired. Disappointing, given my memories of the old Copollas in Hyde Park. Smaller, freshly made portions with less sauces, toppings and garnish would justify the price to me. I would not likely go back.

The building this place is located in is quite a site. awesome exposed ceiling beams in cozy dining rooms that feel more like you’re in someone’s home than in a restaurant. The stains on the carpeted floor leave quite a bit of room for improvement. The food is simple, mostly frozen and headed up on the spot for each order… generous portions with generous price tags. I knew things were off to a bad start when I had a plate of rusty lettuce with a meager two canned olives for my starter salad. Tossing a couple pieces of mesclun in with three-day old iceberg lettuce dues NOT make for an appetizing starter. For my entrée, I got the Tour of Naples, which included a chicken parm, side of «homemade» ravioli, and an eggplant/ricotta dish. Each of the three was swimming in marinara sauce and covered with melted mozz, as if to mask the lack of awesomeness underneath. While each of the three had their own texture, none had a unique flavor. Someone at my table also tried the gnocchi, which was chewy and flavorless, really a disaster. I hate to say it, but nothing really shined here, it had a flavor profile that was similar to the olive garden – bland and uninspired. The one thing I’ll give credit for was the service, which was polite, prompt, and attentive. Nice work there.

We had a coupon, so we decided to try Cappola’s on route 9 for lunch. Three stars feels generous, but our food was so tasty I would feel bad giving less. We had a panini and a calzone, and both were excellent. The portion sizes were huge, especially for lunch. Everything was hot and well cooked, and their homemade tomato sauce was amazing. Unfortunately, the warm, welcoming look of the outside of the restaurant does not extend to the interior. The room we sat in had low ceilings, old fashioned décor, and was very dark and dingy looking. This all gave the room a claustrophobic, neglected feel. Although our server was very friendly, the service was slow to the point of us having to seek out someone to take care of our check. A couple of tables in our room also had issues with order accuracy, though ours was fine. If the rest of their food is as good as what we had for lunch, we will continue to order from Cappola’s, but only for take-out. I couldn’t help but think that what they really need is the help of a good interior decorator and to streamline their service. One of those restaurant makeover shows could work wonders for them!

Went here to check it out as a potential location for a rehearsal dinner. I’m glad we did because it was terrible. My lasagna was clearly reheated and tasted like it was prepared several days ago. The bread wasn’t warm and tasted a bit stale. Service was slow and disorganized. There are far better Italian restaurants in the Hudson Valley.

When I first moved to the area, many, many, years ago, we often enjoyed dining at the various Coppola’s in the area. Now, that many years later, it’s disappointing how little their restaurants have changed, or rather, kept up. Cappucino’s, a restoration from when this used to be the Treasure Chest, is probably the newest of their restaurants, but the degree of «trendy» or «new» feels minimal. And I think it shows if you look at the folks dining there. It’s a place you bring co-workers for a basic business lunch, or a place you take your older relatives for dinner. That’s not to say it would be a bad dining experience. You should just expect it to be somewhat quiet and traditional, both in décor and menu offerings. I came here today for lunch with a large group. We had one of the smaller banquet rooms to ourselves with 1 waitress. All the items on the menu, including specials, are very basic — burgers, sandwiches, wedges, salads, calzones, pasta dishes, etc., with the«trendiest» things being personal pizzas and wraps. Service was fine, the waitress was friendly and prompt. The rolls are quite good, served with a good quality EVOO. The meals were served in a reasonable amount of time, and all the meals came out at about the same time. My meal, Chicken Scarpitela, was Italian sweet sausage, chunks of chicken, onions and peppers in a brown sauce on ziti, and it was disappointing. The sausage was delicious. The chicken was dry, the brown sauce was a little thin, and the ziti was chewy. I’m wondering if this dish had been assembled early and left under a heat lamp while the rest of the burgers and calzones were cooking, or maybe the pasta was deliberately slightly undercooked to let it finish while waiting for the other meals. For a restaurant which has been serving Italian food for decades, this is the type of meal the chefs should have been able to prepare in their sleep without any problems. The luncheon ended on a bad note when the waitress got all our checks mixed up. I did notice she had gone to painstaking preparation when taking everyone’s orders and serving them correctly. She evidently got 1 or 2 bills out of order when handing them out, which had a domino effect. I can sympathize, because I used to be a waiter. But It would also have made sense to eyeball the checks as she delivered them. She would have minimized the confusion and looked a lot better for correcting the error as it happened.

I attended a small banquet here in the larger back room they have for such events. I was really concerned and worried about the place based on the bad Unilocal reviews but in the interest of fairness I have to say the place is not the best but it’s also not the worst I’ve been to(maybe I eat out to much & can actually compare it to worse). The internal décor is dreadful & dark. It feels more like a bed & breakfast converted into a restaurant with small rooms down a long dark corridor where you’re tossed into a small room to dine. This would not be a particularly romantic spot to bring your date unless of course your breaking up or want to break up. Our group was in the back larger room that seemed to have the best outdoor lighting but it had a horrible ceiling décor with what looking like an ugly window curtain design. I couldn’t help but notice the wires protruding from the, presumably, broken ceiling fan in the center as well. The food I would compare to a very, very small bump up from Denny’s. Food wasn’t absolutely terrible but it certainly wasn’t «fine dining.» We had a brunch with some breakfast selections and pasta all of which tasted fresh if not almost like frozen food products. Eggs were served to order right in front of us so that was certainly fresh and authentic. If you want to experiment with something different in the area, knock yourself out. This place would not be my first choice but it’s definitely not the worst spot I’ve visited. I think if they upgraded the décor and layout it could pass for a decent spot.

Years ago, this restaurant was actually something of a gem. That is no longer the case. I almost get the sense that they exist to host retirement parties and such in the large back room and that normal diners are after thought. The smaller dining rooms are cramped, creaky and, if the bar is alive downstairs, full of muffled bar noise. The wait staff is fine — no complaints. Pleasant, attentive. The food is bland and prepared without much care or concern. Shrimp parmigiana is basically a butterflied shrimp with an ice-cream scooped sized dollop of bland, stiff bread stuffing plopped on top of it. There was no compelling reason to eat the stuffing… so I didn’t. Other meals showed a similar sort of assembly-line get-em-in, get-em-out vibe. Honestly, they need to put a little more effort into what they do. There’s too much competition out there for diners to settle for what they get at Cappucinos… they need to work harder to get me back.

Not at all like the Main Street or Hyde Park restaurants although I have not eaten at either recently. Were there any Italian chefs? Were there any seasonings in the bright red Marinara? I would swear I had Weiner Schnitzel with a can of tomatoes poured over. What a disappointment in an area with so many great Italian restaurants and pizzerias.

Do yourself a favor and just don’t eat here. I had to eat here twice and the veal piccata($ 16) just tasted«off» and the spagetti with meatballs($ 11)…the meatballs smelled like Alpo and were inedible. The bar downstairs is fun but follow everyone else’s lead. Get a pizza.(This is after a rousing discussion of whether they could get takeout delivered to a restaurant!!!)

This review is primarily for the bar under the main restaurant. Yes, there is a bar under there. Around one of the sides is a rather nondescript door that leads down into the basement(aka the bar). There are actually many doors that fit this description, so look for the one with the bar hours taped to it. You can get down there via a main restaurant as well. That said, this is a dive bar that’s apparently been around for more than a hundred years. As such, don’t expect anything fancy down there. You’ll drink your bud, miller, or coors and you’ll like it. Yeah, they’ve got some taps too, but I’ve decided to stick with bottles there from now on. The place honestly does look like an old cellar. Tall people beware. The ceilings are very short. If you’re near 6′, you’ll either be sitting the whole time or be stooped over so you don’t bang your head on anything. It’s got a huge, and I mean huge, fireplace in the center(not sure if it works or not) and there are actual rock walls along the interior. A jukebox, pool table, and some TV’s round out the entertainment. Mind you these are not the fancy flat screens you find elsewhere. Old fashioned tubes is what you’ll watch. For the food, you can order from the regular menu, just like the more privileged people dining probably 2 ft above your head. No scaled down bar menu here. Haven’t eaten there much, but one thing I had that I’d like to comment on was the Cajun chicken calzone. First it was huge. I eat a lot, so when I say it was huge I mean it. Second, I think there was maybe 2 pounds of cheese in the thing, which I guess contributed to it’s hugeness. If that was it, I’d probably say this place is a 2.5 star establishment, pending future tasting of more food there, but the reason I give it 3 is that this is a bar that’s like a family. Everybody in there knows everybody else. Even your first time there, the crowd is extremely friendly. Not just the bartender but everyone. The first time I was there, one of the guys there had drank too much. Two guys drove him home. One driving his car and one driving another car so the two of them could come back. I tell you what, that deserves an extra star in my book.
