Specialties
We are an independent, family owned and operated business working for independent artists. Mastering is a key component in creating a quality audio project. Our mission is to give our clients the opportunity to sound better than they thought possible. We believe that independent artists need independent engineers, and likewise. This philosophy helps to ensure that our music, vision and principles remain clear and remain ours.
We are a small business. We understand that possibility should not come with an impossible price tag.
History
Established in 2001.
Tom has over 30 years of experience mixing and recording «live sound» or live shows. He has also spent time on the other side, playing guitar and bass in several local rock, jazz and blues bands in the Philadelphia area.
«I have always been infatuated with the sound of things. For example, when practicing the guitar I would get side tracked. I’d end up playing more with tones, like hitting it with a pair of scissors or kicking the amp head and listening as the spring reverb made an explosive sound.»
Tom was hired as a mixing engineer for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, a nationally syndicate radio show that recorded live concerts. The job required him to mix live concerts and send them off to be mastered. «I wasn’t happy with what was coming back,» he says. Soon he was asked to start mastering the show himself
His experience with Biscuit led him to develop his own company, The Mastering House, in 2001.
