Geeks On-​site was started in 2004 as a one man business and has grown into a team of technical experts. We strive to provide FAST computer repair services to the DC metro area. We realize how important computers are to everyday life and small businesses. They have become a necessity and without them life can grind to a halt.

We started off by serving Montgomery County, MD including Potomac, Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Silver Spring, Burtonsville, etc. But have steadily grown to the entire DC Metro area including Fairfax County, VA, Howard County, MD, Washington DC, and surrounding suburbs.

GP S.

Manager

GP helped start Geeks On-​site in 2004 and helps oversee the company. He holds a M.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence & Security from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland in College Park.

GP has been working directly with computers for more than 15 years and has experience in software and hardware. Over the years He has worked with countless companies helping them with every facet of IT from new hardware installations to web development to custom VOIP solutions. Some of the larger organizations includ Lockheed Martin, AT&T Government Solutions, and SAIC.

GPs philanthropic efforts include the founding of the LK Foundation. He is a firm believer in community and charitable giving. GP is an active public speaker with two gold medals to his credit from various public speaking competitions.

His interest include movies, fine dining, and technology.

They showed up at my house and looked at the computer for a minute and took it with them with a promise to call the next day. Two days later I got a call stating that my repair would cost $ 250.00. My assumption was that this was addition to the $ 124.00 that I was told gave me an hour of service. So my total cost would be $ 374.00 was out of line for the value of the laptop. I requested that my laptop be returned which would still cost me the $ 124.00 and my hour of service should have taken place as I expected that the computer had been given a good going over and I would get a diagnosis of any problems. The fellow shows up with the computer and he told me with a laugh, that I should have let them repair the laptop that wasn’t I told that the entire cost would have been $ 250 and not the $ 374.00. I told the fellow that this was not funny and I felt taken advantage of at the $ 124.00 had provided me about 5 minutes of their time. I booted the computer and realized these guys had done nothing to my computer! The same browsers were up from where I left them when I experienced a problem. I WILL NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE AGAIN AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM!

DON’T TRUST THESE PEOPLE — I had a problem with the administrator password for a relatively new computer. I called Geeks on Site and they noted they could only reformat the drive and reinstall the operating system. I said fine and they took the computer and said they would be back on Sunday morning between 9 am and 11 am to return the computer. At 11 am I called and left a message. At 11:30 am I called and they hung up. I called back and the person on the phone told me I couldn’t have had an appointment because I wasn’t on the board. After a bit they called to tell me that yes, my tech had said he would return the machine but he shouldn’t have done that because the computer wasn’t ready. That night I received a call telling me my hard drive was bad and it would cost an additional $ 375 to put in a new hard drive. Since the hard drive wasn’t the issue when they took the computer I refused. On Monday evening the Geeks on Site tech returned the computer. I booted it and it was fine, including the bad hard drive. My son has a math helper in high school who was there when the computer was dropped off. Will, the high school student, looked at my computer and asked if he could take a look. So I let him. In fifteen minutes he had recovered the admin account and the computer is back to normal. Geeks on Site wanted to charge me $ 500 to fix a perfectly good machine. As it is, I have to pay $ 124 for the privilege of experiencing their incompetence.

Absolutely terrible service. The «tech» came out and told me it would be $ 550 to fix the computer and they would have to take it away for two days to service. I told him that wasn’t what the person on the phone told me. He charged me $ 124. He was only on the computer 5 – 10 min and I already had problems I never had. Hopefully management refunds my money. The guy on the phone seemed like he had some sense

If I could give zero stars, I would. I am basically being told I am a liar about what was wrong with my computer and what I wanted fixed. Outlook. Instead the tech took away my laptop, stripped it to factory settings (I lost all my programs and personal settings) and Geeks-​on-​Site won’t give me my money back. $ 250. And Outlook still didn’t work.
I have a computer guy who works all over no. VA who took it with him – he said the .pst files were really corrupt. It took him more than 40 hours to fix it. He lives in Herndon, I live in Arllington. He brought it back and when I asked him how much I owed him, he said, «This is WAY beyond charging.» Zip. So my computer is fixed… at no charge.
Yet this company, who did NOT fix the problem, has refused to give me my money back. They reinstalled Windows but there was nothing wrong with Windows. Rob at Geeks said Outlook should have been reinstalled. I have done that a lot and it didn’t help. He said I agreed to the service. Wrong. I agreed to pay the money to have the problem fixed. They didn’t fix it.
I am just beside myself. I had them help me another time and was reduced to tears. I only called them again because the owner was kind enough to take over my computer and fix it the first time. His techs couldn’t do it. Same thing this time.

Awful and costly experience with this company. I’m a marketing consultant and live and die by my computer. Had them come by and check my HP laptop in August 2014 that was only two years old, had started receiving the «big blue screen,» and was told the hard drive needed to be replaced. Paid $ 350 for services and new hard drive and now my problems are worse than when I started. I get a big black screen and then a big blue screen that leads to a complete shut down. Finally threw in the towel yesterday and bought an iMAC. Tired of PC problems and having to replace every two years. Can’t believe that this company doesn’t offer remote access to fix problems in real time. Must wait for someone to come to my home and then leave with my laptop. I’m with Richard T., I cut my losses and moved on with my life.

A freezing Mac brought a «technician» who arrived with no diagnostic equipment at all. He clicked around for a bit and declared «a hardware problem.» That he didn’t seem to know what he was doing and that he was totally unaware of the «Flashback» virus — a virus significant enough to have merited a recent article in the New York TImes — led me to cut my losses, pay him and get on with my life.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this computer repair service company. While the new computer I purchased from them does in fact work well, the company itself is not reliable or very professional.
In early January a technician came to my house to fix my old computer. He recommended buying a new one from their company (they are a licensed Dell seller), to which I agreed. I provided full payment for the new computer during that appointment and the technician took my old computer so that the company could transfer my files onto the new computer. I made an appointment for the same technician to come again exactly one week later to bring the new computer and install it.
The day the technician was to come, HE NEVER SHOWED UP! I waited all day even though he was scheduled to come between 12pm-​2pm. At NO point, did I ever receive a call from him or the company alerting me to this.
When I finally called them late in the afternoon that day, the employee I spoke with couldn’t explain why it had happened, so I just rescheduled the appointment for the following day. I had no choice — I had NO computer since they’d taken my old one and I had already given then company payment for my new computer.
When another technician showed up for the next appointment, I thought I’d finally have my new computer. Wrong! The technician for whatever reason didn’t have my new computer — he forgot it. I had to schedule ANOTHER appointment later in the week — the third time they finally got it right and installed my new computer.
A few days later, I politely explained to the company that while I was happy with the actual computer, I was extremely disappointed with their service. They reluctantly gave me $ 25 credit to use for any service appointment I schedule with them in the future.
My question: why would I want to use them again when they either can’t be depended upon to show up when they are supposed to or to show up with the equipment needed (i.e. a customer’s new computer) to fulfill that customer’s service needs?
I used the positive reviews here on Unilocal about this company as a factor when I decided to have them fix my computer. I’m glad these other people had positive experiences — but mine was not a good one.
