Cute gifts and friendly service but you have to have cash in order to buy stamps. For someone that never has cash on hand this can be a problem if you don’t know ahead of time.

It took me years to find this place because it’s tucked away at the Pease International Tradeport among a series of red-brick buldings of no special architectural make or design. For the longest time, I thought it was the Newington, Post Office, and there is a Newington section of Portsmouth, but I never found it. Then, someone told me it had moved, and was in the Tradeport. The only other post office I know of is in downtown Portsmouth. It takes me 6 miles to go to almost any shop or business via car, and I could go to one in my town, but I like this place because the staff are upbeat, personable, and relaxed, which is nice, nowadays, where Postal offices are concerned. We know that the lives of postal workers are not glamorous and they have major pressures, including the physical ones. However, this post office is privately run and is a treasure trove of nice gifts, unique food snacks, earrings, chotskis(sp?) you name it. It’s almost like a Hallmark card store(with more than cards). The only reason I’m not giving five stars is because it closes from 2 – 3, but I do understand that people need to eat during the day. And they do not take credit or debit cards anymore(I might stand corrected, however). They have the best stamps –their choices are well thought out, and sometimes, I buy a sheet just because I like them. I’m still using my forever stamps for the next 3 – 5 years. Another reason I like them is because they keep supplies out for you, such as pens, tape, which is cool, if you had to rush to mail something to get it in on time. I’ll donate to their coffers, as they keep a donations can on hand. Alison runs the shop. It’s worth the exploration, if you have the time, which I rarely have enough of… you’ll definitely find unique gifts there.
