Established in 2010.

Decades ago, this disco-​dancin’, big hair wearin’ action duo met and tied the knot under the Hollywood sign. Leavin’ the glitter, they headed north and found «success» in the corporate world, a world that did not fit these nature-​lovin’, music-​makin,’ free spirits. That’s when YOGA made it’s grand entrance, bringin’ peace, love and happiness to these brief-​case slingin’ souls.

Soon, they became deep-​breathin’, book-​readin’ students and they felt their path unfold. «What if?» they asked… and like a vision they knew.

They’d be road-​trippin’, life-​explorin’ yogis chroniclin’ a most excellent adventure. 100 Yoga Studios in 100 Days –Seattle to San Diego on their #1 Yoga Blog, YoYoYogi. com.

You may have seen this big-​hair wearin,’ dancin’ dude doin’ his thing, week after week, on the Hit TV Show, «Solid Gold.» Leavin’ the glitter (and spandex) behind, he headed north with his make-​up artistin’/hair stylin’- turned wife, in tow. They made their way «successfully» in the corporate world, a world that did not fit these music-​makin free spirits.

Confused were they until YOGA made it’s grand entrance, bringin’ peace, love and happiness to their souls.

With the discipline of dancers, they went divin’ headfirst into this unfamiliar world of Yogidom. People exclaimed, «Crazy are they» as they took off on a most excellent journey, visiting 100 studios is 100 days and chronicled their «off the charts» adventure on their #1 Yoga Blog, YoY​oYogi​.com.

The only yoga place I have gone to consistently! Before coming here I tried hot yoga, gym yoga, DVD yoga, and one or two other things. This was completely different. This studio is welcoming to all people and comfortable when you are new and inexperienced or if you are advanced and looking to take your practice to the next level. There are so many different classes to try, so there is a class for everyone! I suggest trying a variety to see what appeals to you. There are classes that will make you sweat and classes to cool you down and restore balance. Also let’s forget the friendly staff and instructors.

I just had my first visit to YoYo Yogi after years of meaning to stop by. Thought I’d take advantage of the sweet new student deal.
I love the space (old buildings with original wood floors and built-​ins are my favorite) but with that you get creaky stairs and loud stomping above. The class was comfortably full and only a bit warm with ceiling fans gently moving the air around.
Unfortunately, one man nearly ruined my experience as he lumbered in with his cell phone (the door specifically states «Cell Free Zone») and then loudly gabbed with his friend until class started. At the end of class he also apparently desperately needed to speak to said friend the second the teacher left us to enjoy our final moments of shavasana. I wanted to tell him to STFU but figured that would be the opposite of the point of my having attended the class.
Everyone else I met was friendly, from the gal at the front desk to the teacher to two students who introduced themselves to me as we all got our things together. I’m not accustomed to loud music with vocals when I do yoga, but it certainly helped to drown out some of the old building noise. I look forward to seeing what the other classes are like.

I’ve tried several different yoga places in a hunt for something I really loved, and my hunt was over after trying YoYoYogi. Rooms are nice and big, tons of accessories for your practice if needed, instructors are awesome. I like quicker flowing classes so those are the ones I typically attend and they have plenty of them, though they offer several other styles. Good music to get you going, instructors share words/​stories/​experiences ect… that leave you inspired, laughing, and feeling good. I’m newer to yoga and they’ll make you feel very comfortable. I’ve also never worked up a sweat at any other studio the way I do here (in the very best way possible). They make small adjustments to your form throughout your practice if needed which I appreciate.
I left my yoga bag in there on Christmas Eve recently with a very special bracelet in it, when I came back the next time they were open in the morning I mentioned that I left it there and they had tucked the entire bag away where it was safe and hidden! Owners are wonderful! Great business, thank you!
My favorite classes:
You absolutely must try Soul Shakin with Alex & any class with Isabel! I was hooked after that! If you want a heated class, I adored Lara as well! If you want Restorative, Tony was a doll. I haven’t tried very many other classes with other teachers, but these alone would have been enough to get me hooked!

I love this studio! I’ve lived in Portland for 18 years and I’ve finally found a studio I can call home.
I love Galen’s Friday noon class, Saturday’s 6pm restorative class with Sarah, and Alex’s Soul Shakin’ Yoga on Sat and Sun.
All the classes I have taken have a creative twist, which is so refreshing in the yoga world. Yippee!

On second thought — this place could do one thing to improve:
Morning weekday classes that are more in the 7 – 8:30am range. There are a couple 7:15am weekday classes, but most at 6am which is just too early, and the next are usually not until 9:30, which means a 10:30 finish, which means work conflicts. With so many alternative work schedules in Portland, it’d be nice to have classes throughout the morning!
Along the same lines, weekday classes later that 7:30! I love a later evening class.

YoYoYogi is everything I was looking for in a yoga studio and more. I had taken a few months worth of basic yoga classes at a local church and decided it was time to find classes that were more challenging, but that I could keep up with since I’m basically still new to yoga. I stumbled upon YoYoYogi while walking in the Pearl one day and decided to give them a try. Everyone there is warm and welcoming. The instructors are very caring and always encourage students to go at their own pace, i.e., modify poses if you need to or go deeper if you’d like. After my initial class, I decided to purchase the 1 month 12 class special for $ 38 to try lots of different classes with different instructors. I’m happy to say that I’ve found 4 different weekly classes that meet my needs (and schedule) and that bring something new and unique to my practice every time. I love coming to this studio for what it does for my body as well as my mind.

After going over the handle bars of my bike to get to a relaxing yoga class. I get there, only to be confronted with loud club music. The instructor was yelling to the point of a raspy voice. When I asked the instructor to turn the music down so I could hear him, he rudely responded we don’t turn music down! Taking my money elsewhere.

Just got out of yet another ridiculously wonderful class and felt compelled to share my yoyo love.
Hands down the best yoga studio in Portland. A wide variety of classes. Great time slots. Awesome teachers. The best ambiance. And the perfect balance of physical exertion and mental serenity.

I love Mark’s class! So good! So so so good! Unfortunately he is not teaching a regular class right now but watch for him to sub! He has really creative sequencing, I have done a lot of yoga but I swear every time I take his class he does some transition i’ve never tried before. Sometimes I feel like we don’t do the same things on the right and left side but I don’t care because you just feel so good after his class. It’s a pretty fast paced class. He plays his music really loud which is fun but sometimes it is hard to hear him. He usually has some sort of theme or story about love or being present or something like that but it’s always very applicable and he is refreshingly down to earth for a yogi. The studio staff is friendly and I love love love being next to the windows in the large studio. Best yoga I’ve found in Portland.

What an amazingly welcoming environment! Tried my first boot camp this morning and instantly felt like I’d walked into a room full of new friends. The workout was good but the welcome was better. I will definitely come back any time I am in town! Thanks!

Joined a Flow Yoga class as a drop in. Staff and students were incredibly welcoming. Drop in class fee and mat rental prices very reasonable. One of the best flow sessions I’ve attended in a truly peaceful and beautiful space.

What a wonderful studio! I came in not knowing a soul and left feeling like I had made so many new wonderful connections. The customer service was fabulous and the class was amazing as well. Isabelle’s class was so cool. She was so sweet and she walk us though the class so nicely. The music was fun, the practice was everything I had been looking for, and the location and space is beautiful. If you are looking for a wonderful studio full of life this is a great pick. And they carry Beyond Yoga brand which is amazing!!! Thanks ladies for today, I am looking forward for all my future classes!

First off, a confession: I’m not very good at yoga. I’m 6 – 4, my hamstrings and glutes are beyond tight and I’m about as flexible as a 2×4. I feel fortunate that I don’t start a domino effect falling into the person next to me when I’m trying to balance on my right leg. At some studios such ineptitude would be frowned upon. However, Yo Yo is not your typical studio. No pretentiousness, no attitude, just a really chill place, a cool space with friendly people and a great variety of classes. When I say friendly people I mean friendly people too. The instructors who work the front desk knew my name the second time I came in and when I missed a week asked where I’d been. I mainly do the hot yoga classes and they can get pretty damn intense and never the same. However, all levels are welcome and I never feel like I don’t belong in a class with my lack of skill. The rooms are large so they can accommodate a good sized number of people but of the classes I’ve taken only a few have been overly crowded. The 12 classes in 30 days for $ 38 intro special is an amazing deal and an excellent way to experience the greatness of Yo Yo. I recently moved from the Pearl and even though live around the corner from another studio, but I’ll be making the 20 minute walk to Yo Yo as it’s that awesome of a place.

Being just a visitor to town, I found this yoga studio via Unilocal and am very glad that I did. The front desk staff was friendly and showed me around — they have a lovely community room with comfy chairs and stools and tables, a water fountain, changing rooms, showers, hot tea, and even an indoor bike storage area. It really is a lovely space. The class I went to was held upstairs in a room that seemed very true to the old character of the building. The teacher was wonderful, she knew her stuff and offered a great class. Loved the music she played — not distracting but also not your typical boring yoga class music. They offer a community class every day for $ 9which is a really nice feature of this studio. Would definitely return if I was in Portland again.

I tried YoYo Yogi when I first moved to Portland earlier this year, what a great studio! I enjoyed every class I took, the teachers are good and the people that work there are super friendly. Since March I’ve tried a bunch of yoga studios but no place has been as good. yet. I think it’s time for me to get a membership. Hopefully my experience will be as good. Will be back soon!

I’m an advanced beginner student. I tried other studios in town, and I’d have the same problem every place. I’d go for a «beginner», «level ½», or «all levels» class. I’d choose a class that had a theme or style agreeable to me.
When I showed up? It turned out that the actual skill level was «all advanced students, plus me». And the class seemed to have no resemblance to its published description. It was more like, «the routine this teacher always does, known by rote by all other students, who have all practiced under her for years». The teachers rarely ignored me, and they were all inspirational people in their own ways. But if they didn’t give me constant attention, I was inevitably left in the dust, because the other students all knew the routine so well, and the teacher was in sync with *them*.
I’ve been pleased to find it’s not like that at YoYoYogi. I choose my classes there on the same criteria I did at the other studios. Here, there are always a few advanced students at class, and sometimes there are first-​timers too. Whatever the mix, they always teach these classes to accommodate the variety of abilities. They emphasize reaching *your* limit, not pushing it to an extreme, and not worrying what you look like.
They don’t make you feel self-​conscious and left out, and yet the classes are as rigorous as you make them. So, five thumbs up.

This family owned studio is so dear to my heart. Alex & Terri & daughter Kristi are phenomenal teachers. The teacher training is thoughtful & excellent and offers a solid structure of asana but also gives the history & spiritual side of yoga’a root in patanjali’s sutras. If you want a variety of classes with affordable prices & a thriving community of lovable yogis… come here.
