What would happen if children and parents could share a live music experience which both loved?
That is YouWho.
They create a Sunday mid day event. Kids and their companion parents gather at noon for crafts. At one, DJ Anjali kicks off dancing. The stage show begins with owl costumes and more puppets after. The event wraps with musical performances the parentals would love and too the kids!
They started monthly. now it is occasional. So when it happens, and you are interested in meeting cool parentals, you might enjoy it.
Frankly they have all the business they need and are not depending on the event for a living. They started at the Kennedy School, now they are at the Crystal Ballroom, SXSW and the Ace NYC. They don’t need publicity. Shows sell out. Performers come to them and waive their fees.
They also organize events for MyMusicRx, a project of the Children’s Cancer Association
.
So this review is for parent networking.
You can judge by the partial list of who has played. It’s long. It’s presented in the spirit of ‘I could have been there with fam’. I was at many. And maybe you will be there in the future, if it matches your fam culture.
