YoChoice Yogurt

Fro-​yo is poor man’s ice cream, but it does a decent job of taking care of the ice cream cravings when I’m trying to keep from packing on too many lbs.
YoChoice is a pretty typical fro-​yo joint with six flavor options that rotate on occasion. Chocolate, vanilla, coconut and original tart seem to always be there, so it’s really just two options that offer an element of surprise.
The topping selection is where you really make or break your fro-​yo experience. YoChoice has a great selection of cookies, candy and sauces to throw all over the fro-​yo. They even have peanut butter topping, which I’ve developed an addiction to.

I love this place and thought they needed a star boost because 3.5 stars is a joke. Multiple times we have gone in here less than 20 mins before closing (out of ignorance rather than malice (we know closing times now)) and the employees, no matter who, the older guy, the young girls always are friendly, accommodating and seem downright happy. They have regularly rotating flavors and a shit load of topping options INCLUDING those circus cookies. You know the ones. They’re pink and white and have sprinkles on them and make the roof of your mouth feel like velvet. I also should add that they never have run out of fruit completely which is my number one topping and that’s more than I can say for those gibronis that say «oh we’re all out.» Of frozen strawberries? Maybe. But probably you just don’t want to go get some from the back. Rude.

A very kid-​friendly, self service yogurt shop. They switch up the flavors often, with toasted marshmallow and coconut showing up alongside the usual stuff. Always a good selection of toppings, especially very fresh fruit (not the haggard slime that one often finds in self serve places). Service is so friendly!

I will not say that I am a connoisseur, but I do enjoy the occasional cup of froyo. That being said this is the worst froyo experience I have had in the city. Only 6 flavors of froyo is ok, if the toppings are there to make up for it. Unfortunately the toppings were stale, unlabeled and limited.

Great place to bring the kids. Service is always great and it’s always clean.

Very limited yogurt options, and the flavors that are here are basic and usual. This place leaves a lot to be desired. The couches inside are nice. Seemed to be a lot of people here, so maybe I’m wrong? I do not recommend the peach.

Nice local yogurt business, nice owner, not the best but no way the worst place for a cool treat. It works for me and long as they have chocolate.

I don’t know what other reviewers are complaining about here. Sure, selection is limited, but simple is good. I like to think that YoChoice is simply featuring the greats.
My boyfriend and I came here after dinner at Stanich’s. Despite it being ridiculously windy and cold, YoChoice was right there and I honestly could have frozen yogurt any time of year. I saw Cake Batter and my boyfriend eyed the Mountain Blackberry. Sold.
I think it’s great that this shop is eco-​conscious with recyclable bowls and spoons (with silverware spoons for indulging in-​house). If you want lids, just ask the friendly associate at checkout to take the dessert on the road.
None of the toppings are labeled, but that’s okay because you add on what LOOKS good. The boyfriend and I shared a bowl (half and half of the aforementioned) with white chocolate chips and Butterfinger pieces.
The owner (I’m assuming) was super friendly and knew right off the bat where we had just eaten (based on the smell of fries). He let us know where sample cups were (at the register) for tasting and made this visit an enjoyable one.
It’s quite interesting that they have two forms of punchcards. They use the mobile app Perka but I also spotted paper punchcards too. Either way, I think it’s great to bring back those regulars! My boyfriend and I still had time before heading to our 8 pm movie so we sat, ate fro yo, and answered questions on Jeopardy! Everything was pretty chill (pun intended).

We were a bit disappointed in our overall experience here. The yogurt was good and the price was low, but that was pretty much it. None of the toppings (candies, cereals, etc.) were labeled and almost all of the fruit needed restocking. There was only one guy working the after dinner rush and he disappeared when we were ready to pay. Our yogurt, hot fudge and all, sat on the scale and melted while we waited for the guy to return.

I have visited this shop on a few occasions and every time I remember how unfriendly the owner is. Borderline rude and appears to not like small children. This is definitely not a place I will visit again.

The customer service here is great, so I’ll give an extra star for that. That said, I’m a little disappointed at the lack of flavors, especially unconventional ones. I’m always surprised at the variety of flavors at other frozen yogurt shops, and I was a little disappointed at the smaller selection. All in all, not bad!

This is a great local froyo shop. I love that they have biodegradable bowls and that they don’t use plastic spoons. I think it’s great that they are sustainable and environmentally conscious. We stopped by right before closing, and the owner was kind enough to let us in. He was already starting to close up and put things away but he brought some fresh strawberries and raspberries out from the back so that we can have more options. Now THAT is SUPREME CUSTOMER SERVICE! I tried the original plain tart yogurt and it was delicious– creamy, slightly tart, and sweet. It was so thick and creamy that I almost forgot I was eating yogurt for a second. I added some fresh raspberries, granola, and crushed peanuts and it was the perfect combination! TOTALLY HIT THE SPOT!
The owner is also a really friendly and charming man. He gave us some fun NBA trivia and we enjoyed friendly conversation over dessert. Learned a few neat facts about the Los Angeles Lakers that I didn’t know… and I’m from LA!

We stopped by this local fro-​yo shop one random night while on vacation in Portland. There weren’t many of the standard chains we’re used to in the area so we figured we’d give it a shot. Sure there are less flavors than most chains and it’s true that the toppings aren’t as robust or nicely laid out as other places, but it’s still a good little dessert experience. There’s something pleasant about the old school set up where you fill up a bowl instead of a neon pink cup. The guy working the counter was extremely nice and appreciative of the business, even though it was 10 mins before closing and he surely cleaned everything right before we undid his work.

I love this local, small business owned frozen yogurt shop! It’s my go-​to spot! I love the to go options, comfy couches, various topping and of course– the tasty, tasty froyo. I like the changing flavors and the guy who owns the store is super friendly! I prefer this spot over others due to the location and friendly service!

Only 6 flavors to choose from, no beverages (except water), and the cones aren’t with the bowls, so I thought there were no cones until my friend pointed them out @ the cash register :(on the other hand the customer service was excellent and there was indoor/​outdoor seating including a couple of leather sofas.

Not great.
My fiancé and I just got yogurt from here, and were less than impressed.
Not very many flavor choices, poorly laid out store, and a sad display of toppings.
That would have been enough to not come back, but the lady working was SO rude. She seemed annoyed that we even walked in, then even more annoyed when I was finished making my yogurt, and my guy wasn’t yet, and when we left and said «thanks» she replied with a super-​rude «yeah».
Swirl on Hawthorne is better, and there are infinitely nicer people working there.

When it comes to frozen yogurt, this place does it well! It’s self service and they offer a variety of flavors. I prefer ‘original’ — I like the tartness. Their ‘sides’ selection is a wide variety of sauces, candies, nuts and fruits. I did a mish-​mosh of items which turned out really good.
The only downside is that you pay by the weight, so you need to watch how much fro yo you use because it’s gonna add up quick.

As a frozen yogurt fan I am very Happy to announce that YoChoice has added some of my favorite toppings to their selection! Mochi-​mochi-​mochi! I love that stuff, especially on frozen yogurt… When they add popping boba’s I’ll add the 5^th star to my review!
YoChoice is always very clean, friendly, and a great addition to our neighborhood! They always have a great selection of yogurt flavors so i’m thrilled they’re getting hip to the topping-​thang that’s a must have for frozen yogurt!

Things I Liked:
cardless punchcard through perka. You can use the iPhone app or text messages. Then you check in and get punches. 10 punches = free 5 oz yogurt.
recyclable packaging.
good prices. both of us had froyo for like $ 6 and change.
they take cards, no extra fee.
Things I disliked:
parking next door at the letterman jacket place is horrible. basically, street parking only.
not many flavors.
small bowls, no lids.
I’ll go back. But this isn’t my favorite.

I am a huge Swirl fan. When I heard there was a similar place closer to my house, I knew I had to try it If I had never been to Swirl, I probably would have thought it was fine. But in comparison, there just weren’t as many choices that interested me. I don’t want cereal in my frozen yogurt. I prefer more interesting toppings.
Likely, I will make the trek back to the other place.
