Woodstock Park

As a mother of a small child, I wish I would have known before coming to this park that the dog park is not separate. While on the playground, within 5 minutes, my 1.5 year old son and I were barked at by 2 different dogs– we are a dog loving family, and these were not friendly «just saying hey» kind of bark. I will not take my son here again for this reason– there are leash laws for a reason… allowing dogs to be off leash in the same area as small children is a really bad idea. Like I said, as a parent, I would have liked this information to be more upfront, which is the reason for this review. Not sure how this is legal.

Nothing vegan on the menu, wtf? When i used to live in Mexico, i had real park all the time! I wont be going back

Woodstock Park is absolutely nothing short of exceptional. This is an institution in the neighborhood, holding an elementary school, drinking fountains, picnic tables, a playground, several benches, lovely grass, tall trees and a delightful incline at parts. It is elegant in both human intuition and natural beauty alike. The medium size means you could have your favorite and your least favorite spots throughout the park, however the vast majority is definitely likable. Several blocks in this seemingly suburban neighborhood are defined by the presence of this park.
I have been here many times. I love going here from the main part of Woodstock, including where Otto’s Sausages is located. Even though it was a sudden beginning to the season’s rain when I went without a coat, I felt a resistance to leaving. The paths throughout the park kept showing me better and better places. This is not just a park, but a interconnected trail between different aspects of the Woodstock neighborhood.
Woodstock Park ought to be further imitated.

Lots of green space. Wooden play structure for older kids. Nothing appropriate for a toddler other than two swings.

This park is close to my home. It’s always clean and feels very safe. There is always a good possibility you will find someone else playing as well so your kid might have a new friend. Their playground equipment is nice, updates and clean. Great spots for a pic nic, party or family gathering. Located right next to the adorable Woodstock elementary school, it’s pretty picturesque. Nice fresh wood chips are there to cushion a fall. Simple, clean and pretty location.

This park is along my usual running route, so sometimes I take a little detour around or through. I’m only here in the mornings during the week and it is always quiet and peaceful, with the occasional person tossing a ball around with their dog.
I’ve never noticed any sketchy characters hanging around and it seems clean and safe. It’s pretty and a decent size for a couple of laps around, whether you’re walking or running.

Every time I am here I enjoy my time outside.
Sometimes I hop on the swing and giggle like a school kid… I cant believe how high I used to swing when I was a kid, wow. Today, I felt like I was going die from the fear of how high I was, only to measure it later at 3.4 feet :|
This getting older thing is for the birds,
and Woodstock park has a lot of those too :)

I’m really disappointed. Someone took my daughter’s scooter while we played by the merry go round. Please return. 4÷13÷2014. It’s a razor with blue handles. Jerk.

A beautiful neighborhood park, tucked away in a residential side of Woodstock. Friendly, safe, well maintained.
A dozen swings, a dozen more infant/​toddler swings. Many seesaws, huge merry-​go-​round, big-​kid slide.
The best part: a perfect toddler-​friendly space with a colorful fort w/​climbing ropes and table and even play binoculars. Also, a mini-​slide and ride-​on spring-​toy. Perfect for our energetic toddler!
Highly recommend this park for parents & kids!

Good family and dog walking park very clean and well kept near school not a prefered 420 location

Great neighborhood park with an old-​school vibe. NO FENCES — just a large-​ish, open, off-​leash area. Dogs & people are friendly; plus, it’s open late. FYI: the potty bags are ‘donated’ recycled bags; sometimes they’re there, and sometime they’re not, so BYOB. Same goes for water.

I like to go here because it is walking distance from my house. Most everyone who goes here is nice (I have had a few bad experiences so ladies be aware of the grumpy old man who likes to curse).
It’s fun getting to know the regulars and their dogs. And there is soooo much space for the dogs to roam. There are bags sometimes provided by the regulars at one of the signs and a few waste cans…
I have also brought my niece’s and nephew’s here and they like the play ground a lot. There are a few baseball fields when it’s baseball season and then a soccer field in the fall.
The trees are so pretty there!

My first son learned to walk at Woodstock, and my new baby has enjoyed a sunny afternoon here as well. The play area is sprawling, and close to Woodstock Elementary for when your kids get bigger and need more exciting equipment. There is equal amounts of shade and sun, and loads of grass for rolling, playing catch etc. So here is the 3 star low down the bathroom is rarely unlocked, its 50% dog park, and like Jodi mentioned, the locals are high drama. I have had mothers of very young toddlers stop my 7 yr old and his friend from whippin’ on the merry go round, only to place said tiny toddler in the middle and tell the rowdy young lads to «go slow». This has happened on multiple occasions over the years, and although the park is in your back yard its not «your» park. The dog park section is beautiful and large, but as you can imagine dogs stray over the the play ground area often and sometimes you never see an owner come to get the dog. Last week I was laying on a blanket with my infant and an off leash very large dog came barreling right up onto my blanket. You know your dog is friendly, I do not. I keep my kids and myself on the far side of the dog area, and it would be way cool if more dog owners in the neighborhood would keep their dogs out of the kids area. That said its a lovely park, go there.

Lovely park with tons of open-​space room for doggies to frolick. I’ve also noted after many visits to this park that it’s a fine place to stumble upon free music! Lots of folks pick this park to practice in, it seems. And not an annoying band practice kind of way, like a quaint, fun, nice to hear in the background kind of way.
Great neighborhood festival in the summer, too!

Woodstock Park is a great place! I have two small dogs, about 10 pounds each, and I take them to the park about three times a week. It is a great place to jog and give the dogs some exercise.
My favorite time is on Sunday between 11am and 1pm, this is the small dog meet-​up in the dog park area. If your dog is around 20 pounds or smaller, bring them to the park for a fun play date with other small dogs! The official name is the P-​Town Pee Wee Meetup.
There are some nice areas in the park with a basketball court, baseball field, soccer field, tennis courts, and a playground for little kids.
The dog park area is big and pretty far away from the streets, so you don’t need to worry about your dog running into the street.
The Woodstock Park is one of the best in town, especially for dog owners! There are no «snobs» like a previous reviewer wrote, I go to the park 3 times a week and I’ve never met a «snob» there.
This is a nice dog park, my little 10 pound dogs are always safe. They love this park, even the big dogs are friendly.
The Mt. Tabor dog park is sometimes dangerous for small dogs, the Mt. Tabor dog park always has aggressive dogs who jump and tackle my dogs. I’ve never had a problem like this at the Woodstock park.
There are some good restaurants and coffee shops close to the park, including Otto’s, Laughing Planet, Mezza, Pizza Roma, Papaccino’s, and First Cup Coffee house. I will often grab a coffee or lunch from one of these places, and eat lunch in the park with my dogs.

I know, I know. Three measly stars? Don’t get me wrong. The park is beautiful. Lots of open space surrounded by big bad conifers. Weird brick art. Paved paths. Public restrooms. Plenty of space to stretch out on the grass for a picnic. Free softball games for the watching. A tennis and volleyball court. Heck yes.
I think it was the awkward park patrons that dropped it a star for me. This is SUCH a neighborhood park, that the locals seem to take that factor to an extreme. It’s their backyard, so they virtually live here, which means they bring their personal dramas here.
I could never actually relax during my picnic and bookfest here: a couple hundred feet away, a couple had rendezvoused here to vent some steam about their secret lesbian affair. Now, if you’re meeting in the park as a middle ground so you can have a private conversation about how fucked up your psychotic-​business-​woman-​falls-​in-​love-​with-​aggro-​butch-​bicyclist relationship is, don’t you think you’d… you know… keep the volume down? Apparently not. Even while trying to block the feud out, I could hear every word being said, as could any other passer-​by.
Then there were the dog snobs. Ah boy. How I love me some dog-​watching fun. Parks that are dog-​friendly get points in my book. But open free-​range dog parks where the owners have lost track of their four-​legged companions because they’re busy gossiping with the other dog snobs? I saw a lot of dogs doing their excretory business in the park and very few owners picking up after them. Yeah, not cool.
I guess what I’m saying is: what a lovely park. If the locals dig it so much, why don’t they respect it more? If your dog is toy aggressive, why don’t you leave his toys at home? If your dog poops, why don’t you grab one of the bags the park supplies and pick it up? And if you’re having a secret love affair, why not keep it that way: SECRET.
Four stars for the park. Two stars for the park-​goers.

Everytime I walk through it I am reminded of being a little kid again… the tooth chipping teeter totters, plenty of swings, the dizzying marry go round, stuff to climb… jump off… and knock the fricken wind out of yourself…
Yes…nostalgia and fun times.
Also a wonderful way to pass the time in our hood for no money.
There is lots of trees, a free tennis court, and plenty of spaces for BBQ or big family picnics.
Nice large ball park. Soccer Camp is on right now… there is something relaxing about listening to the players and parents out on the field while strolling into the park. It feels lively, yet family oriented and reminds of fun, simple times.
Minus 1 point for the odd of leash dog park hours. You cannot take your dog (legally) off leash until 7pm… WTF?
I can understand why off leash during school hours from 8−3pm may not work… but people need 5pm as an option. Even on weekends they have odd hours, and it is not much better during summer. There is no sense to this AT ALL.
I do not appreciate having to let my dog off leash when it is getting dark outside.
I hope they become less stringent on off leash hours. Lame.
I have discovered that people are actually good about picking up the poop.
Occasionally there has been homeless people hanging out on the hill… but they have been harmless, just playing guitar and sitting on and around the bench, far from the kids play area as well.

This was a neighborhood park after I dropped the husband off at some beer event. It was a very green park with grass and trees. We went in the morning so — there were only a handful of dogs walking around the parks with their owners. My dog and I were the only ones in the off leash area playing ball. I was disappointed in size of the off leash area (not fenced). I felt contained in the one area. I see this park as more of a neighborhood park for the folks living in the area– not the out of towners who are visiting.

Nice open green space in SE. The park is mostly overrun with dogs, and the owners don’t always pick up after them so watch your step! There’s a nice sized kiddie area.
This park has fewer trees than most others in SE, so if you’re looking to lounge in some sunshine, this place is great!

This park is great for the whole family… 4 legged members included. The whole park is not all for the pooches, but they do have quite a large off leash area. For those of you who aren’t so sure that once «fido» is off the leash, he won’t run off & not come back, be aware that the area isn’t fenced. There is a child play area with swings & that kinda stuff, there’s an area for football & soccer games, a picnic area. It’s great!
The dog area is actually really well kept too. People are actually very respectful of others that come to enjoy the park & pick up after their pets!
