Wilson Pool

This place is great. The kids love it! Great zero entry for the baby, the slide and lazy river for the older ones. The biggest down sides are that it gets crazy packed, the locker rooms are the highschool locker rooms which are a bit dumpy and the poolside seats are hard to come by. Since we come just to play in the pool the downsides are not a big deal and the price is pretty fair.

It’s not summer without the wilson pool!

Lazy river, big water slide, little water slide, fountains, noodles and floating boards and best of all big buckets of water that dump on your head. My two year old experienced them all, as did my husband. After two hours I had to drag the both of them crying out of the pool, promising them we could come back next weekend.

This is the perfect place for everyone on a hot, summer day. There is a lazy river about 3 and a half feet, little waterslide for kids, big water slide and a diving board with 10 ft water in it plus a free area where you can just swim which is also 10 ft. Staff is friendly. Will be coming back!

Just finished up 2 weeks of «Angel Fish» swim lessons with the babies. Our instructor Mimi was fantastic. I think we may even sign up to do them again starting next week.
The pool is nice, clean, and well supervised by Lifeguards. There are 2 slides. One is a giant frog, in which you slide through the mouth, it’s fun for little ones. The other is a fast paced, giant (climb up lots of stairs), twisty slide. If you go down the big slide with a little one, make sure to hold them up in the air. You get thrown in pretty hard at the bottom.
Besides the slides there are a few other fun features:
Water spouts & fountains in the pool.
A big statue with buckets at the top dumping down water.
A «River» which winds around the center of the pool with a fairly strong current. Great exercise if you walk, or swim against the current.
The very center of the «River» has a «Vortex», also fairly strong and great for working out.
There is quite a bit of shallow water in the main pool, some areas shallow enough for infants to stand.
There was a day where the pool was insanely cold, and the locker room certainly has no frills, but then it’s a public high school pool. Otherwise it’s all good at Wilson Pool :).

We went to Wilson Pool today. The lap pool was closed due to cloudy water, so it was impossible to swim. If it isn’t too crowded, the fun pool is an okay pool for kids. Family swim was okay — not too crowded, although we had difficulty finding an empty chair — put our stuff on a plastic chair, all the loungers were claimed. Then at one p.m. when it became open swim it was shoulder to shoulder in the water — utter mayhem with toddlers on floats and twelve year-​olds squeezing past the little kids or conversely walking slow in the «lazy river» or the vortex (aka, «swirling cauldron of pee») causing traffic jams. The slide is really long and fun and the line length can vary depending who is at the top regulating the flow. Sometimes we were able to dash right to the top, others we felt like we were in line for «Thunder Mountain» at Disneyland. The water is heavily chlorinated and a bit cloudy, but such is the fate of a public pool. Lots of lifeguards and they have their work cut out for them, but they were good-​natured and did their best to prevent serious injury or death.

Meh. After paying $ 12 to get my kids and I in, I felt like I was in one of those creepy pools in asia that are packed with people and you can’t figure out what anyone is actually doing in the pool. It was ridiculously over crowded, all I could do was plant my butt in one spot and pray that I might spot one of my children every 15 minutes.
And speaking children at the pool, who is the creepy old guy taking pictures of the kids? When I asked him what he was doing, he smiled at me and immediately left. Not good.

school pools have really evolved! this one has a drop slide, current channel and vortex. the kiddie area has a tot slide, covered area and buckets that periodically dump out water from 15 feet above. be careful where you are standing though… a bucket of water landed on my backside and i nearly lost my bikini!
they also provide inflatable tubes and swimming boards for play.
the rules seem to be less rigid here than what i’m used to. kids were doing flips and twists off of the diving board… moves that would’ve gotten me kicked out of the local pool when i was a kid.
the only minus is that it was so crowded at opening time that it was hard to find an available lounge chair.
it’s only $ 5 and the pool is open from 1 — 8:50 pm on the weekdays, 12 — 6pm on the weekends. that’s a steal!
