What’s New? Furniture

Awesome spot!!! Prices are good. Inventory turns over really quickly so there is always something new to look at when you pop in. I did order a couch, which due to the holiday season and some unforeseen delays, took longer than expected. The team at What’s New did everything they could to get it to me as quick as possible, which I very much appreciated at the end of the day. Would have been a five star rating, but the delay in production of the couch was a bummer.
Mark is awesome. Patient, relaxed. No pressure to make a decision and answers any and all questions!

The good first. The owners have good taste in terms of what they carry and the prices are reasonable. The sofas are generally comfortable to sit on. Now the reason for my 3-​star review. The free cookies are sweet, but the staff is not – entirely. That happens. You catch someone on a bad day or there’s one bad egg in the bunch. But I have pretty consistently been ignored or talked down to there. Are they so busy that they don’t have to try anymore – to be nice or return emails? Makes me not want to shop there anymore. I did buy a sectional from them last year. So far so good, expect that the seat cushions slide forward a lot and I have to adjust/​push them back in place. I’ve never had sofa seat cushions do this before, so I think maybe there is something they should be doing differently to avoid this. Also the chairs they carry are not as comfortable as the sofas. Very little padding on the arms.

We just bought 4 – 5 pieces of furniture for about $ 1,000, including a nice kitchen buffet and beautiful solid wood coffee table.
Whoever assembles the collection for consignments does a wonderful job – we love the styles that are represented, and you don’t have to pay unreasonable prices. Additionally, they have new pieces mixed into the display as well.
They movers that made the delivery did a good job.
Great place to go if you’re looking to freshen up your home with furniture that is unique and high quality.

Great service and awesome products. My husband and I were searching for interesting pieces of furniture that wouldn’t break the bank and I’m so happy we found what’s new! They have great selection of tables, sofas, coffee tables, and more. Thank you what’s new!

What’s New? offers friendly, helpful (read: non-​pushy) service with a smile. I stocked my new home with several pieces that have character. If you’re looking for residential furniture or if you’re looking to give cozy feel to your office, you could do much worse.

Maybe it’s because they’re from the Midwest, but these folks have that kind of welcoming hospitality that makes you want to come back just to hang out!
My wife and I were looking for a new bed frame and a few other things. The staff here were not pushy, salespeople. They answered questions, gave helpful advice, and definitely gave you the space to help you decide on your own (without you having to ask).
No jerks here! Really, I can’t think of a better experience I’ve ever had shopping for furniture, but then again, it’s not something I’ve done a lot of. Would still recommend!

Yay for What’s New! So here is the deal I am a serial second hand craigslist buy it used kind of gal yet after buying a couch on CL that was appeared clean but was actually super dusty I had it and decided to purchase new couches for our home. I was super overwhelmed when I first started shopping until I went to What’s New on the tip of a friend whom said you can pick out your own fabric and that they had super fair prices on sectionals. Mark whom worked with me was out of this world amazing and super patient and funny which really helped the process. He sat with me on countless sofas and looked at pics of my home while discussing the finer details of aesthetic and comfort with me.
Still customizing a sofas is confusing especially because I had a hard time picturing them in my space. We bought two sectionals one that we loved as the color and the scope of size fit in the room and looked divine, and one we really did not love because it just did not work. I had made a huge mistake and called up right away. Jody the owner was super professional and compassionate and made the order right in the end. As I sit here on our new sofa me and my family could not be happier or cozier. Hey What’s New you are super and we thank you for popping our new furniture cherry. Wouldn’t have done it with anyone else!
PS. The delivery guys Renee and Barry are delightful dynamic duo!

We ordered a custom, locally made couch on Feb. 6^th from these folks. The ordering process was smooth enough. I called late last week to check on the order, they say 4 — 6 weeks, the person who answered the phone chided me for calling before the 4 week mark and said they could not check on it until 4 weeks. I called again today at 2:30PM, and was told they would contact the manufacturer and call me back… no call back today.
I will keep my review updated throughout the rest of our process. TBC…

My new leather sectional couch was just delivered. I absolutely LOVE it! The delivery guys were really nice, professional, and helped me tweak a few things to make it all perfect before they left.
Everyone I met in the store was friendly and laid back — no pushy people following you around. I like that the store has a nice mix of new and resale. Lots of character in their inventory. This will definitely be my first stop next time I need furniture.

I’m so happy with my new sofa!
You know how it is when you have a picture in your mind of the perfect sofa.
I was on the hunt, we had moved and didn’t bring the old sofa so we needed to make a decision ASAP so as to not sit on chairs more than we had to. I was a little nervous given a couple of reviews to try What’s New? Furniture, but decided to check them out anyway. We went down to the showroom and found exactly what I wanted!
Josh and Bill were very helpful answering all of my questions about the construction of the sofa, the fabrics, etc., I am really picky. We had been to many places already not finding anything and like I said the clock was ticking. We went home and thought about it but I knew I had found the perfect sofa.
So back we went, Bill and a very nice lady (don’t know her name) helped us decide on a fabric, everything went smoothly given that I’m so picky, they were so patient.
Five weeks later got the call she’s in! Good cause our tooshies were tired of sitting on chairs. We told them we would come down to see the sofa and pay the balance. When we arrived they took us around the back to let us check out the sofa, although I saw it through the plastic I could see that everything was in order (fabric, legs, etc.). Delivery was smooth.
I would recommend What’s New. Furniture to my friends and you too dear reader.

I have been in this store a few times now as both a consigner and a buyer and will go back anytime I need to buy or sell furniture. For one thing, this is possibly the friendliest place I have shopped; but just as important, they sold a sofa set of mine within a couple of weeks for a decent price, and the custom sofa I bought from them is beautiful and comfortable. Plus they have answered e-​mails promptly, and been nothing but patient and friendly with phone calls about various things. I really appreciate doing business with people who seem genuinely interested in taking care of customers.

I will never come back here EVER AGAIN. I’d give them 0 stars if I could.
After weeks of looking for a new sofa, we stumbled upon this store and saw a reasonably priced sofa with a modern design. We custom ordered the couch and spent about $ 1500 on it. We went through the process and actually paid an extra $ 100 to have buttons added to the seat cushions. They told us it will be 4 – 6 weeks until the couch will be finished.
Called back in 5 weeks and they said they don’t know when it will come in. They don’t give you any sort of tracking or updates. You have to call them and ask, which is completely ridiculous. They said they would call me back to tell me if it came in or not. Never called back.
I then called the following friday and they said that the shipment might be in that night. I made arrangements to borrow a truck to bring it home, called the store (after no one called me back to confirm the delivery) and no one knew if it had come in yet. So I had to return the car that I borrowed and 3 hours later the store calls me to tell me they got it in. So I had to drive back to borrow the car the next morning to pick up the couch.
Picked it up and everyone was nice and helped load the couch onto our truck. Took it home and our order was wrong. They did not put the buttons in the cushions that we had ordered and they got the couch legs wrong. Called the store and talked to the store owner. She was apologetic and placed the blame on her employees right off the bat. We told them we don’t want the buttons anymore, just our money back. She said OK, she’ll give us a check for the extra $ 100 and she will send someone over to our house to install the new legs on the sofa. She asked us for our address and what time we’ll be home from work on Friday. Friday comes around and nobody comes. Saturday comes around and still nobody comes. We call back on Sunday, really pissed off, and talked to a guy who said that the owner doesn’t recall ever making us that promise of coming to our home and reinstalling the legs. They said they don’t do that sort of thing. He, personally, said that he will make this one exception and will come to our home to install the correct legs.
Have a meeting for them to come over today. Not very hopeful. Can’t return the couch so I’m stuck with this crap service from people who are horribly disorganized and brain dead. Never coming back and hope this place goes out of business.
UPDATE:
They did show up to our house that day with the $ 100 check and installed the correct legs on our sofa. It surprises me that the owner’s comments below says that she is surprised that we were so unhappy with our experience. We made that quite clear over our phone conversation that we were unhappy. Anyway, as she states, this is a small business and mistakes will happen. Sure mistakes will happen, but this many mistakes is just unacceptable. It was one after another, and it was such an exhausting and frustrating experience.

I know a furniture shop? Not a food review? Kinda odd since I have so few reviews that aren’t food related. Granted I’m not even looking for furniture at the moment. I was with some friends out to lunch and this was on our way back to the car. My buddy’s wife is furnishing a condo for friends of theirs so we took a little walk in here.
First off, a pretty large space. Two floors, but we didn’t make it up to the second floor. There was a great mix of new and reclaimed pieces. We liked the worn pieces and there were several bamboo tables I liked. There were a few that looked straight out of the 50s and 60s. Some of the couches were just so relaxing, others a bit on the lumpy side, but no matter.
The staff was friendly, and it looks like they were willing to work with my friend in order so she can get the condo done. The prices were actually really decent. Nothing that was too crazy, mostly really affordable.

I don’t normally take the time to write reviews, but I was so pleased with my purchase I felt I had to share. My fiancé and I ordered the Rainier Sofa w/​Chaise set and are ecstatic with the purchase. It was delivered a couple of days ago and we can’t believe how beautiful it is! We were excited by the couches features: locally made in Southern Oregon, lifetime warranty, no added chemicals and totally customized to our liking, but we were even more overjoyed when it arrived. It’s so gorgeous and comfortable! Way beyond our expectations! The craftsmanship is perfect and it doesn’t have that weird new couch, chemical smell that most sofas do. It smells natural — like wood! The fabric is super high quality. What’s New Furniture had a huge supply of fabrics to choose from and we are so pleased with the turnout.
I would definitely go back to purchase more custom-​made furniture and would highly recommend them to friends and family!

oh my god, this place is a joke. half of the stuff here is cheap flimsy goodwill quality trash, but with prices in the range of moderate quality new items. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.

My husband and I walked in with our two toddlers at 8 minutes to closing. We were greeted by 2 friendly people. We said, «We know you’re closing in 5 minutes, we will just be a minute.» They were super nice and said that we could take as long as we wanted which was a relief since it takes a long time to get two toddlers out of a car and walk a couple blocks.
The furniture is beautiful. It is made in Oregon, which I love. There’s a bazillion different fabric and color choices, and I was happy to learn that there are microfiber fabrics that don’t look like traditional «imprint of your ass» fabric. I found one sectional that looked modern and classic, yet it was roomy and very comfortable.
One of the sales people (who identified himself as the ‘web guy’) was so helpful. He explained about the materials and fabric, told us that the furniture carries a lifetime warranty. So if the couch cushions slump, just return them and they will replace them. He said the first 3 months, a couch will sustain enough wear to show how it will look for the life of the couch. In other words, after 3 months you’ll know roughly how it will look/​wear, and the outside fabric and inside material is made to look and last a long time.
They also have lots of consigned furniture, which is reasonably priced. They have several art pieces, some of which look kind of dated, but they are large-​scale which is good for big spaces, and makes me wonder if they were consigned from a hotel or similar venue.
The website is very helpful if you can look at it first. It shows styles and colors, so when you go to the showroom, you’ll quickly know what you’re looking at. I hope to convince my husband to purchase a couch here, and then I’ll give another review. For now, 5-​star service is all I can attest to:)

We bought a custom sofa here and we LOVE it. I lived in Portland for a while and stumbled on this gem of a store. Once we bought a house in Seattle, we came back to Portland just to get a couch here and the experience was well worth the drive.
Great quality, great price, and friendly Portland service. Will return for other purchases.

I wanted to write this review as the store has a new name (What’s New? Furniture) and is under different management. Based on older reviews, it seems that new management is continuing old management’s top notch reputation.
My couch has seen better days. I bought it for $ 100 off of Craigslist when I first moved to Oregon, and while it was in good condition, I didn’t intend to keep it for very long. Fast forward five years later, and this thing is still plugging along. Some things I’ve realized from owning this couch:
(1) My aesthetic five years ago was pretty bad. Black crushed velvet is a special kind of fabric that dominates an entire room. Sure, the cheeto stains are easily hidden, but my poor taste wasn’t.
(2) Part of my motivation in picking this couch off of all the ones I found on Craigslist was that it wasn’t floral like the other 5,000 of them, and it was light. When you have to lift it above your head to strap it on your car, you pick a light couch that feels as though it is part of the Masturbaten collection at Ikea.
(3) It is possible to sit down on your couch one day, and practically fall through to the bottom. I had fallen, and I couldn’t get up. Where was Life Alert when you need it?
So, this brings me to present day when I realized I needed to put my big girl panties on and go buy a couch. I checked Craigslist, and visited a number of thrift shops and furniture stores. Things were either way outside of my price range, or weren’t really what I was looking for.
I stumbled upon this place, and I have ALL THE HAPPY because I did. This store is a mix of new and consigned pieces, and they do an excellent job of selecting what they choose to consign. They have some contemporary pieces, quite a bit of mid-​century modern, and a mish mash of other stuff. Lots of stuff for any room in the house.
The pricing at this place is great. I uploaded a picture of the consigned couch I bought, and it was only $ 350. It’s sturdy, comfortable and blemish-​free. It was exactly what I was looking for… for about $ 400 less. I have to get it delivered, but even that is reasonable. They work with an outside company who charges $ 65 for the first piece (for homes withing 20 miles). I didn’t opt for same-​day delivery, but she said that they’re sometimes able to do that if you need it.
The team here is great! They aren’t in your face or pushy, but they are around if you have questions, or need assistance. They also provide measuring tapes for customers like me who left them at home.
This was probably the best furniture shopping experience I’ve ever had, and I will definitely be coming back here in the future.

I love this place! I recently moved in an apartment, starting from scratch, and wanted a sofa to put in my living room to make it feel more like home. After wandering through vintage stores whose sofas were not that attractive or over-​priced, my co-​worker told me to go here. When I walked in, my eyes popped out of my head. The high-​quality furniture is gently used (no funny smells!) or new at a very affordable prices. They have sofas, dining tables, table lamps, desks, dressers, etc. Delivery prices are great too ($ 50 for one piece, $ 65 for two to five pieces).
And, the service! They had the BEST and genuine service that I’ve encountered here in Portland. Even though they closed at 6pm, they waited for my boyfriend to get there past their close time so that we could seal the deal.
I’m definitely coming back again for other pieces to furnish my new home!
