I needed to move part of my household to Washington, DC. on short notice, and Westside/​Mayflower proved more than equal to the task. From estimator, to move coordinator to driver, these were competent people. A cross-​country move isn’t casual, but West Side Moving helped me through the fine print, the online signature process and more. I could call my excellent move coordinator, Dixie, and she would get whatever was not working for me straightened out. I moved antiques and artwork. Everything arrived in good shape and in the time promised. Bravo!

The crew at Eastside/​Westside Moving are excellent to work with! We refer them to the clients at our residential real estate agency without hesitation. My in-​laws recently moved and gave me rave reviews about the care that Jody took in helping them to move across the country. They are professional, careful and timely, which makes them such an asset to our businesses and lives!

The people are nice, but watch your stuff and don’t sign anything unless you know it has been delivered. In a move to the east coast they lost our mattress, broke a chair and lost several boxes. Once they got done delivering, the delivery guy told me it was my error that boxes weren’t checked off and told me it didn’t matter because I had 90 days to make a claim. I wouldn’t have even known they didn’t deliver the mattress except I heard them arguing. He tried to get me to sign without telling me about the mattress. Once a claim was made for the large, missing or damaged items, they processed the mattress, but refused to believe us that a chair was damaged and another item was lost. It was our mistake to get rid of the chair before they paid us for it, but you are on your own to know what to do. I took photos of all the damage, but they did not accept that as proof. They count on you being overwhelmed and vulnerable in the chaos and stress of moving. This company takes advantage of you. Watch your stuff!

We moved from Portland to Austin, and at first everything went very smoothly. Terri Jones was our estimator and she was friendly and processional. Dixie in the office was super nice and didn’t lose patience with all of my questions. The packers came on Thursday and the movers came on Friday, as promised. On Saturday we flew down to Austin to stay in a hotel until our stuff was delivered, on Thursday. Awesome, right?
On Monday we were informed by Dixie that only half of our household made it onto the truck because the other two loads already on it had gone over by 4000 pounds each (how is this or fault?), but they would have the rest to us ASAP. On Friday I finally got an estimated date of February 13^th. Our latest date for delivery according to our contract was February 2^nd. I was offered $ 500 off (of a move bill over $ 8k) to compensate for the inconvenience. I was not planning on complaining or asking for a discount as long as I got all my stuff by the latest contract date. Two deliveries is a pain and not the service we were expecting (we’re missing a lot of stuff!) but stuff happens and we’re pretty understanding. But 11 days late (from the latest contact date) is unacceptable.
I had hoped that they would do a better job advocating to national (Mayflower) on our behalf to correct their error by making our delivery top priority, and that they would make a reasonable reconciliation offer. Neither of these has happened and now I am left to haggle with national myself. Thankfully since I have half the boxes to unpack, no tools to hang pictures in my new home, no broom or mop to sweep with, minimal linens to fold and put away, no hairdryer to dry my hair, no wine glasses to sit and sip wine from, or enough chairs for my family to sit at the table together, I have time to devote to my complaining.

We moved to Portland from Missouri. They were one of 4 companies contracted with my employer and I decided to go with them due to their prompt response. Jessica our move coordinator was extremely friendly, organized, and helpful. Everyone (in home assessor, packers, movers) were all punctual and efficient. The move went amazingly smooth, especially since I went out of the country right after shipping off my stuff and had a representative receiving the shipment. All the boxes and furniture were in good shape with 1 minor casualty (1 broke desk lamp), but everything else including tons of bottles and fragile ornaments came intact.

We moved from Portland to Reno. We have a friend who had a very good experience with West Side Moving & Storage so we decided to give them a try. Had a good experience with Terri, who is very professional and answered all our questions as she went through the house to make her estimate. Her weight estimate turned out to be somewhat high, but we get a refund on the overage so not a big problem. Dixie in the office is excellent, answered more questions, made sure we were aware of free used boxes available for packing, coordinated the move very well and followed up on moving day and arrival day.
The movers were supposed to arrive at our house between 8:30 and 9, and they showed up at 8:30. The driver Joe packed several mirror packs, doing a nice job on them all, but otherwise we had packed all boxes. The movers were efficient and courteous, did a good job of putting pads on the staircase and runners on the wood floors. Our load arrived in Reno on schedule again at 8:30 a.m. We felt sorry for the movers because we moved into a 3-​story townhouse, with much of the furniture going to the third floor, but they worked with a smile and were once again very efficient. One box had damage to the outside but the contents turned out to be fine. Otherwise everything appears to have been delivered in the same condition as when it was picked up.
We’ve made many moves over the years and none have gone perfectly, but this went as well as the best of them, maybe better. All in all we had an excellent experience with West Side Moving & Storage and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.

Absolute worst company ever and I have moved all over the country. They will lie about everything so keep ODOT’s number handy. Get EVERYTHING in writing when dealing with them. Don’t even know why Mayflower has anything to do with them and when problems arise don’t count on much help from Mayflower.

I am in agreement with M.O.‘s review. Their folks are polite and professional up front, but if you want to have your goods stored and/​or packed and moved in one piece, don’t go near this company. I also only had the «standard» insurance, which covers almost nothing of what was damaged by this company in moving my goods to my new home:
(1) leather sectional sofa ripped in 3 places; (2) standing floor lamp broken in half — and they had the nerve to try and glue it together before delivering it without even telling me about it — fortunately for me we discovered the truth when it broke again in two in the movers hands when it arrived; (3) bookshelf leg/​foot broken; (4) base of kitchen table broken on one leg; (5) all 6 (!!!) plastic deck chairs broken; (6) corner of dresser mirror frame broken.
I’ve filed a complaint with BBB too. Again, if you want your goods delivered in one piece, don’t go near this company. So many other better moving companies in the Portland area.

Like the previous reviewer, I had a great experience with Terri. She was very professional and she answered my questions. However, once I signed the papers, her work was done.
I was told the movers will arrive between 8:30 and 9:00, but two came at 9:30 and then two more came at about 11:30. The packers from West Side Moving packed a few of my things. They did not pack the items in my apartment, but they loaded it on their truck and then packed it at their warehouse.
When my things arrived, they were in boxes, and the numbered stickers were on the items which were packed in boxes. So when my things arrived, I was able to count the boxes I packed because I numbered each one myself. In regard to the items packed in the warehouse, I didn’t know how they were packed or what was packed with what.
The delivery people told me everything was in my apartment. My building only allows 2 hours for movers because there were a lot of people moving in and out. So, I was not able to open the items packed by West Side Moving. I had to let the movers leave, because it took me about two days to unpack everything.
Once the movers left and I unpacked, I found out that three floor lamps which were packed by West Side Moving were broken. Additionally, my ironing board never arrived, even though I was told it was in one of the large boxes that arrived.
I should also note that I chose to go with the cheapest insurance (60 cents per pound). So, considering the fact that West Side Moving packed and damaged my things and knew I couldn’t go through every box within a two hour time frame, I expected West Side Moving to reimburse me, but they are only willing to offer a minimal amount that would only buy me a single light blub.
The person who processes their claims, Cindie is ridiculously unprofessional. She doesn’t seem to understand English very well or she just isn’t all that intelligent.
If you choose to move with West Side Moving, I recommend getting the better insurance option and generally being open to things being lost and damaged.

I moved from Portland to Arizona Jan 2012. Other companies like Graebel, United Van Lines, & god forbid online scammers were very gimmicky. The online movers with a self fill-​in list and no in home walk always suspiciously underbid at $ 1800 and kept calling me.
I’ve heard a lot of horror stories of people never getting their stuff back once the bill does not match the quote. STAY AWAY from movers who do not walk your home, ask for a deposit upfront before moving anything, and only take cash for final transaction. Even well known companies that do u pack & we just load the truck were prohibitively expensive. I’m talking 2000lbs at $ 3500-​$ 5000.
Then comes Graebel & United Van Lines still in the same price of $ 3500 (no large appliances) -$ 5000 even with myself packing. I was really starting to worry that I would have to drive a supersized u-​haul with my car in tow (still around $ 3000 for a lot of my own labor and questionable truck quality).
Thank-​god I found Terri Jones from Westside Moving & Storage Company. I think they are a local moving company contracted to do moves for Mayflower. Terri comes in and bids my house move at $ 2000. And because my stuff came in under the estimated weight, I got a refund within 2 weeks of moving. From the plaques on their lobby, they’ve won service awards year of year.
People there were all super nice/​professional & even let me come in to get free boxes for picture frame & mirrors. Yes, even carried they out to my car! The move itself was superb, just a few dings on dining room chairs & headboard. All stuff I can live with. Only one word of advice, pay attention to the forms movers fill out on the existing condition your furniture because you might submit for damages from the move.
