Westover Tower

My husband and I viewed several apartments at the Westover tower and could not have been more impressed with the property manager, Brooke. She was patient, informed and appeared very considerate to the needs of the residents. The units themselves were quaint with period touches from the 1950’s in the best ways (real wood floors) and great views of mt. hood. The neighborhood was very safe and close to a great dog park. We toured a TON of buildings in the area and Brooke’s customer service far exceeded any other experience. Prometheus property management is lucky to have her!

I love my apartment and have lived here for almost two years. It’s a quiet and overall safe neighborhood just slightly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of NW 23^rd. It was the perfect price for the space. However parking is getting more difficult to come by in the neighborhood. A lot of people moved into the apartment complex recently who do not know how to parallel park or pull forward when they park on the corner. There just isn’t a lot of courtesy in parking around here anymore. You can rent a space in the garage for about $ 80 a month but I’d rather park a block away than pay for rent for my car. Parking meters will also go in on NW 23^rd soon so expect the parking that is around 25^th to become harder to come by as people the meters go in and people refuse to pay by the hour when they can drive up and take your parking three blocks away for free.
The laundry facility is always clean and I almost never run into not being able to toss in a quick load. I enjoy that you can either use your credit/​debit card or quarters to pay for laundry. The candy vending machine and soda machine in the laundry room and my boyfriend have become good friends.
I am not so sure about the new management of the building. David Gleason, who used to manage here, was fantastic and super attentive to issues. The new managers (Lisa and Mary) have been fairly slow to respond to me so far.
I definitely recommend this place to live in, but only if the new management team becomes more attentive.

I love the quiet, safe neighborhood and the homey feel of this complex. David Gleason, the apartment manager, is amazing and I really, really appreciate how responsive and helpful he is. Parking is difficult and getting more so, but the laundry facilities are always available and quite nice. The location and cheap rent are an amazing deal. The Portland Streetcar and and access to the 15, 17, and 20 buses are just mere blocks away. Lovejoy Market is there for late night beer runs, and some of the most amazing food in Portland is at your doorstep. I love my apartment at Westover, I will be sad to leave.

I’ve lived here with my boyfriend for over a year, and it’s been great! I’m only leaving because I’m moving out of state.
First, the location is the best of both worlds. It’s on a quiet residential street where street parking is ample, but it’s only two blocks away from the bustle of NW 23^rd and a 5-​minute walk to the streetcar. Our apartment is small, but it’s a good value for the location and heat is included for a flat rate.
As for the building itself, the exterior is rather unattractive but it’s clean and welcoming inside. There’s a laundry room with four washers and four dryers, plus a vending machine. The residents seem to be mostly 20-​somethings who keep to themselves, but they’re friendly when you see them around. Although the walls seem a bit thin, we’ve never really had problems aside from occasionally asking someone to turn down their music. Also, there’s free and relatively speedy Wi-​Fi throughout the building!
Probably the best part about living here, though, is the management (you don’t hear that often, huh?). The landlord, Victoria, is an absolute sweetheart. She was very accomodating when we asked to extend our lease by an irregular/​indefinite amount. Her office is in the building, meaning she’s accessible AND can sign for your package deliveries! And for maintenance issues, there’s a 24-​hour line you can call and they respond incredibly quickly. We had some toilet trouble one Sunday, and they had a plumber there in half an hour. Another time our door lock was busted, and despite it being 6 am (we were leaving for work) they somehow had a guy there to fix it within 20 minutes.
Obviously it comes down to your preferences of location, size, and price, but if the Westover fits your requirements in those areas I would definitely recommend living here.
