I have been going here for years and the staff has always been highly professional and helpful. The doctors are excellent and really care about their patients. I would recommend Westover Heights to anyone!

Ive been to Westover Heights for many years and have had a great experience. Ive seen two practitioners thought out the years. Both were very understanding and eager to build a healthy relationship. They take time to listen to any of my concerns, and explain all information. Overall I’ve felt reassured and taken care of after every visit.
As a whole the clinic It is very inviting, the people are friendly, and the atmosphere is calming! I would recommend Westover Heights to my friends and family!

I have been going to this clinic for over 15 years. I am continually amazed by the care and attention each and every one of the providers pays to patients. It feels like the way health care should be — not an ecein-​and-​out easy fix, but a thoughtful compassionate conversation followed by medical care that I can really trust. The physicians are all incredibly knowledgeable in their field and are always referencing the most recent research and studies that are applicable to my health. I have sent tons of friends here and I hear the exact same sentiments in their reviews. I would recommend this clinic 100 times over.

Susan Mitchell-​Miller has been so amazing to work with. Whenever I have questions, she is so quick to respond and she always goes above and beyond with her explanations to make sure everything is clear to me. I love that Susan helps me make informed decisions that are best for my body.

I’ve been going to Westover Heights Clinic for over 15 years for primary care. I love seeing NP Sheryl Horwitz. She is by far the best medical provider I have ever seen (and in my 55 years I’ve seen a few). Up to date on the latest research for women’s health and sexual health. Queer friendly. Great referrals to specialists when needed, super connected to medical community in Portland. I still see the dermatologist she recommended 10 years ago. I trust the staff here and though there have been new faces I believe the core values are there: patience, compassion, research based, confidentiality.

I have been going to Westover Heights clinic for the past 3 years. The only reason I continued to go there was because of Dr. Lisa Newton. She was a fantastic Doctor. Destiny was awesome medical assistant. Sadly, Dr. Newton has left the clinic. The new Doctor they assigned me to, is now leaving. The medical assistant, Brianna, is down right condescending. The office staff are generally nice but disorganized. There is a high turnover of medical staff and it is frustrating as a patient. This Clinic had so much potential to be a premium experience in a market lacking premium family medical care, especially for the client base goes to Westover Heights. Unfortunately, it is a mediocre experience at best. Our family will be finding a new clinic.

I’ve just moved across the country and all I can think about is: where am I going to go to find a practice as good as Westover!?! I miss Sheryl Horowitz already — she’s the NP I was seeing there as my ‘primary care’ doc for the 4 or 5 years I was a patient at Westover. The staff is great overall, in their bedside manner and knowledge as a whole. Making appointments and getting through to an assistant or NP on the phone were never issues either. Terri Warren is great, Dr. Newton was wonderful when she was there, and Susan Mitchell Miller is another fabulous NP/​doc. Love them all — I really felt like they were extended family and I’m hoping I can find another medical practice just as knowledgeable and warm as Westover.

Several adults in my family go here and we have been really satisfied. Short waits to be seen, attentive practitioners. One thing I esp appreciated is I was trying a new medication, had problems with it, tried another one, had problems with it, tried another one, and Voila! They were willing to make the switches based on phone conversations so I didn’t have to keep going in just to change meds. Also really appreciate that they are open to alternative options. My doc didn’t blink an eye when I asked for a prescription for a medication I’d researched carefully, and which is available only through a Compounding Pharmacy.
Huge Bonus for older women: They have a nurse practitioner who specializes in women’s hormones. Even if she isn’t your primary provider, you can consult with her.

Edit/​update, ¹⁄₂₆: After speaking with another member of their staff that seemed to be a little better informed, it sounds like it might have been the pharmacy’s mistake. Apparently, after getting my last 30-​day supply, they (pharmacy) were supposed to inform me that it was the last one and I needed to go back in for an appointment. I thought it would be fair to share.
WARNING: Potentially gross incompetence ahead.
Originally, I was charmed by the small, quaint feel of the office and absolutely loved my doctor, who no longer works there. I also found them fair and flexible when it came to a bit of a mix-​up during one of my visits.
However…
I haven’t been in their office for over a year. I take Paxil and my prescription has been with their office (through the same doctor) since late 2011. For those of you unfamiliar with Paxil (perhaps all SSRI’s), you can’t stop taking it for long without experiencing unpleasant side effects.
After requesting a refill, which is EXACTLY what I did last month (30-​day supply), it was denied. After speaking with them, I learned about my doctor’s departure; they indicated I need to make an appointment to get the prescription refilled. Surely, this isn’t unreasonable on their part.
However…
Nobody told me about this «policy.» Last month I requested that Target call in a refill and it was refilled without incident. According to the lady on the phone today, who said «unfortunately» a lot (for those of you who help people, please don’t say that. It’s maddening, fake and canned), I’m supposed to come in every three months. Since when? It’s been over a year. After she was getting a little frustrated (understandable, I was quite frustrated), she referred to it as a «NEW policy.»
My request/​solution was simple: Have (request) a doctor refill my prescription for a month and I’ll be in next week. After all, this wasn’t a problem last month, right? I work the next five days in a row and can’t make the trip (I work alone). «Unfortunately, unfortunately, unfortunately.»
Clearly my frustration is more with the way it was handled than anything else. Show some compassion, admit that it could have been handled differently. If your policies change that involve the distribution of prescription drugs that people will feel funky without, CALL THEM! At the very least, go to bat for the patient. I really, really, REALLY don’t think a doctor would have a problem filling one more month of something I’ve been taking for years. Instead, the lady was hell bent on being right and robotically asking me if I’d like to make an appointment, not addressing my legitimate need and concern.
Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place any longer. Mistakes are made (on my part, too; if I hadn’t waited until the last minute, I’d have more time to play with, but I was expecting the same availability) and the ONLY thing I care about is how their handled.

Doctor Davies and the other provider (whose name I can’t remember right now) both take the tact that it’s better to have more information than less. They are always happy to give me the details of their recommendations and they are willing to discuss the science behind the treatment options. They are also both excellent at making me feel comfortable. The nursing staff are also professional and really great at their jobs. You should go to this clinic.
The first time I went there I was presented with a hospital gown and told to strip. I told them I’d rather sit in my underwear than wear one of those god-​awful things and ever since then no one has even mentioned a hospital gown. So bonus for listening but negative points for having hospital gowns anywhere on the premiss.
Finally, If you call and a male voice answers the phone, I have a habit of hanging up and calling back later. The gentleman who answers the phones sometimes is probably great at his job but he has developed what I call patronizing-​voice. When he talks to me I always want to say «dude, I’m 40 years old, don’t talk to me like I’m 15 and have never had a HIV test before.» It’s that same voice that you hear pediatric nurses using to tell a 7 year old to «peepee in the cup.»

After reading the 2 other reviews on here, I’m am wondering if this is the same clinic I went to. The Westover Heights Clinic I visited on 2330 NW Flanders St, specializes in sexual health. My partner and I met with Terri Warren, and left with a whole new view of our sex life, and consequently, our relationship. Terri’s expertise is backed by years or clinical research and experience in the sexual health field. She answered our questions, counseled us on both physical and emotional aspects of sex, and took the time while we were in her office to call previous doctors and gather all of the information she needed for us. She is experienced, knowledgeable, a straight shooter, but also very humble and easy to relate to. I can’t praise her enough.

Between college, the Army and jobs I have attended many different clinics, and the Westover Heights Clinic ranks among the worse. They are rude, unorganized and expensive. I recommend going elsewhere.

The Tale of the Ridiculous Stomach Flu And the Missing Ear Drum
On a crisp autumn day, I made the intimate acquaintance of many a garbage bag. (In fact, I am only supposing that it was a crisp autumn day, as I rarely left my bathroom much less the house.) Mid-​morning I telephoned Westover (dehydration was a concern), and by 2:30pm, I, along with a trusty garbage bag, had made my way to the doctor’s. As usual, I received attentive care. Unfortunately, mid-​way through the appointment, my garbage bag became a casualty of the stomach flu. Dr. Helen Henry, however, graciously replaced it for me.
For someone who is not a medical professional, it is difficult to directly evaluate the quality of medical care. Instead, we must examine the «symptoms.» How am I treated when I call? Is it possible to make an appointment on late notice? Am I really listened to? Does my doctor take the time to answer all my questions? If necessary, will my garbage bag be replaced?
For Westover Heights, all of the symptoms point to a diagnosis of high-​quality care. The second part of our tale begins in the LAX airport, when I called the office and was able to get an appointment for the next day to have my ear examined. Now, being the hypochondriac that I am, I bring notes to doctor appointments, notes which can cover two pages and mention any detail which I think might be important (yes, I do watch too much «House»). Dr. Mary Meyer is the only doctor to whom I have felt comfortable saying, «I would like to go over my notes with you first, if that’s okay.» She listened attentively as I recounted, in detail, the history of my sinuses. It took about half an hour to clear the wax out of my ear so that it was possible to see into the middle ear. When she looked in my ear, she couldn’t see an eardrum or the bones which usually accompany it. So, she decided I should see a specialist. At that point, a lot of doctors might have sent me home with the name and number of the recommended specialist. No, I sat back and relaxed while Dr. Meyers ran around the office and got me an appointment for the next business day with a specialist.
I am happy to report that the specialist was able to resolve the Case of the Missing Eardrum and Ossicles. But even the experience of going to the specialist (who showed little interest in the history of my sinuses) reminded me of how lucky I am to go to a place like Westover. In the majority of my visits, my notes may be unimportant; but should it happen that I report something absolutely critical (and I know that this does happen), I know that I will be heard. And that means everything.
