West Coast Bank

I would never bank here!!!
This was my exchange with the lady with the nasty attitude. I was running errands downtown and ran into this branch to break a $ 100.00 bill into $ 20’s. .. that’s it, just run in and run out.
Me: «Hello, I would like to break a $ 100 bills into twenties please.»
Nasty, stodgy old teller: «Do you have an account with West Coast Bank?»
Me: «No, I do not»
Nasty, stodgy old teller: «Then I will not be able to provide that service for you.»
Me, totally shocked that a bank refused to break down a $ 100 bill: «And I would never consider being a customer of a bank like this!» And walked out.
Really? That is an interesting way to attract people to your banking institution.
I guess that is one reason I choose to bank with credit unions. I think this is a good post to share on my other social media sites as well.

Nice branch people are friendly & helpful

I like West Coast Bank. I used to bank with Citi, but they don’t have any branches in Portland. We wanted a bank that didn’t charge for ATM fees when we used machines from other banks. We don’t use ATMs often, but we didn’t want to be hit with charges when we do. Other people have different reasons why they open with their banks, but this was ours. West Coast Bank will waive the ATM fees when you call and alert them of the charges; fair enough.
I should mention, I don’t like banks. I don’t like how I’m surprised with hidden fees and I don’t like feeling frustrated and angry with the staff.
This West Coast Bank location is located on a busy street in the Pearl District. Parking is not that easy to find, but there is a parking lot adjacent to the building. The Pearl District branch is small, but the personalities are big and warm. The front desk personnel, her name escapes me (maybe Erica), is helpful and really nice. Every time we visit, she is always at her post. The other personnel are courteous and sincere.
Did I mention, I don’t like how banks make me feel. This West Coast Bank branch is changing that. They are no longer open on Saturdays, the Saturday times was one of the reasons we opened with West Coast Bank, but we don’t really mind.
