Vue Apartments

We moved into Vue when we arrived from Boston in August. We had only seen pictures that they had posted on their Craigslist ad and their website [which the apartment looked nothing like].
While the staff was relatively friendly, they couldn’t do much about people urinating in the stairwells what seemed to be every other weekend [I’m assuming it was one of the many homeless people that can easily access the building through the garage– the only entrance for the months that we lived here because there were many renovations on the front access of the building].
We also had a problem with cockroaches. The building has a exterminator come every Wednesday, who basically made me feel like I was crazy and that we didn’t have roaches. He still sprayed and put some traps in the kitchen. On the day we officially moved out, I found a dead cockroach in the trap. So thankful to be out of there.
They had a leak in the laundry room that they just put a garbage can under and didn’t fix, and many of the dryers smelled like cat/​dog residue [no offense to animal owners, I just didn’t want all of my clothes smelling like someone else’s animal when I was paying quite a bit to do laundry].
TL:DR don’t move in here. It won’t be worth your time or your money, unless they do a MAJOR renovation.

No matter how bad you need a place don’t move in HERE!!!
If I could give less than a star I would. This place is infested with BED BUGS! And COCKROACHES And it’s only matter of time until YOUR apartment gets infested, we had to throw away practically everything away (beds, clothing, sofas, mattress)
The staff was barely nice enough to make a small child cry tears of blood and anguish. This was one of the worst decision of my life. Couldn’t sleep for months, had to live out of bags and boxes living on our couches. Constantly paranoid that something was eating you. The worst part is that the bed bugs are in the walls meaning they can move freely amongst the entire building so no matter what treatments they throw at them the problem will never be solved.
The bed bugs sole purpose is to suck your blood with their tiny pincer mouths! Unless you frequently enjoy these terrible mites crawling on you, hiding in your dresser, reproducing inside your couch and sucking you dry of blood, DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!

I helped a friend move into The Vue. We were there for a total of three hours. I have a lot to say about that short experience.
I first entered the office to ask for a parking permit for the loading zone (we had a reservation for the loading zone and freight elevator) I was immediately accosted by staff for paperwork my friend hadn’t turned in (it hadn’t made it through their online system). And by accosted I mean «I WILL IMMEDIATELY HAVE ANY TRUCK THAT IS IN THE LOADING ZONE TOWED». Never have I been treated so poorly by anyone, ever, in my first 10 seconds of interaction. Ever.
I was blown away. I explained my friend was at work, I was parked on the street (I had not parked in the loading zone without a permit, of course) another friend and I would be doing the moving for our mutual friend the renter, and I would call to sort out any paperwork issues. I call my the renter and have the paperwork sent over in under 5 minutes. A total non-​issue, I have no idea why the agent blew up like that. I return and retrieve the parking pass, get a halfway apology for the previous interaction and proceed to the loading dock. Our reserved spot clearly didn’t mean anything as there is no room to park at the dock. We park where we are partly blocking the gate while we brainstorm for other ways to unload the uhaul. A women becomes irritated we are blocking the gate, we immediately apologize profusely (no one likes bad parkers blocking things), explain the situation and begin moving the uhaul as she is telling us that we are being «f*cking ridiculous!» Turns out, she’s another member of the staff on her way out of work!
We re-​park the truck in the loading zone the best we can. The truck hangs over the sidewalk, but we make certain there would still be room for a wheelchair to pass. We hustle to unload everything up through the filthy, trash filled, cockroach infested (don’t look up, you don’t want to see the traps) freight elevator, down the dingy hallways, into the apt. (which still smells like smoke from previous owner). We come back to the truck to find an $ 80 parking violation. Management denied there was any issue with the loading dock area, told us «they don’t care» and we left rather dismayed by the whole experience. The location is fantastic, and the rest of the staff beside the manager and the other young man working out front seemed very friendly and understanding. I must say you certainly do not get what you pay for here and dealing with the manager and other male agent out front would not ever be worth it to live here. I do not doubt the bed bug issues from the number of cockroaches in the elevator traps. Yuck. Stay clear of this place.

Don’t lease an apartment here. It’s way overprice for what you get. It took them almost a year to do the renovations. The people at the office are nice, but do yourself a favor.
Don’t expect good things. It looks good on paper when you move in, and then once they lock you into a lease, you realize everything on Unilocal is true.

THE Vue do not care about their residents

The Vue wasn’t too bad for the majority of the time I stayed there. Maintenance staff did leave my door open once. Also, they have a policy where they leave a message to pick up mail in the office, but they left a suit that had been mailed to me outside my door when I was away. Could have easily been stolen. Still, it was a great view, and all in all, things were okay.
However, I began to have a BED BUG problem in ¹²⁄₁₄. I later learned that BED BUG problems have been a longstanding issue in the Vue. They provided treatment, but it didn’t work. I am certain the BED BUGS were coming from the walls. The person who provided «the treatment» was from Terminix, and they had an arrangement with him through a third party. The management noted that the Terminix guy often didn’t return emails and such. They KNEW they had a BED BUG problem, and they let an unreliable person handle the problem for the entire building. When I mentioned the problem to a friend in the laundry room a few days before I left, another resident commented that there were BED BUGS on a floor other than my floor.
BEG BUG HELL. Once you’ve had BED BUGS you’ll never forget it. It is a horrible experience. The Vue people didn’t charge me for several BED BUG treatments that didn’t work (If they had tried to charge me, I would have fought them tooth and nail), and they acted like I should be grateful because they didn’t charge me. BUT they charged me for disposing of items that I didn’t want to take to the dump myself because of concern there would be bed bugs on the items that might infect the truck or other areas. I also didn’t want to leave the items near the garbage and recycling area on my floor since somebody might have thought they were in good shape and brought them into his or her apartment, which could have infected the apartment. I thought the Vue folks would dispose of the stuff carefully, but when I went to my apartment to clean if after I moved out, the microwave, which was one of the items I paid for them to dispose of, was still there. I advised the Vue manangement, and they had one of their maintenance staff remove it. He called me and asked me what I wanted done with it, and I explained the situation; thus, they obviously hadn’t carefully removed the items. The maintenance man knew nothing of the situation.
Don’t move to the Vue. There is a great view, and it is in a great location, but they have had a documented BEG BUG problem for years and have clearly not made an adequate effort to rid the place of the things. THEY DON’T CARE – THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY.

My huband and I moved in this past June. In one night, we were infested with bedbugs. The following 3 days were hell as we moved out in less than 24 hours. We had to replace furniture pieces, luggage, and all items that were showing bedbugs. That’s shoes, bags, books, sheets, clothing and pillows. We took pictures of everything and every bug that came out of our stuff and walls. The apartments are more than 50 years old. Bedbugs, if in one apartment, are in the walls and will find their way to other apartments. They are a living nightmare and anyone who has dealt with them KNOWS THAT. It messes with you psychologically and you have to bag and properly dispose of your things. The building should be vacated but lord knows when that will happen. My husband and I were bitten legs, arms, torso, back, and underarms and didn’t sleep for 3 days finding a place and throwing out our infested items/​moving out. The company not only didn’t make an effort to see how we were doing during this crisis for us, but they sent a check for the bare minimum (even less for what we threw out and documented) to us. Did they check in? No. Did they call and see if we even received a check? No.
Just the other day there were at least 12 beds left out by the dumpster alongside 3 sofas. Why? I bet you I know why.
The apartment we stayed in was also previously (within a months time) vacated within 3 days by a previous couple. Management didn’t know why. People don’t speak out when there are bedbugs because they fear they will be blamed for bringing in bedbugs. They are nothing to mess with– and it has nothing to do with cleanliness. It’s a traveling, parasite (yes, look it up) that will live in your stuff up to a year without biting you and making babies at a rapid rate everyday without you even seeing a single one, just suffering their bites at night.
This building should not be renting, functioning, NOTHING.

DO NOT RENT HERE!!! I have had no heat for 4 weeks (it’s November and I just relocated back to Portland from Maui) Ben the property manager has done NOTHING despite 7 conversations! There is mold in the apartment that they will not deal with. Only 2 electrical outlets in my whole apartment work. The fridge and stove DO NOT WORK because of the faulty wiring, again, Riverstone Residential, the property management group who «manages» the building has done nothing! I have disabilities and have service animals so they think I will not do anything about it. The washers and dryers don’t work well, it is NOT a secure building a crazy person ran around the lobby for 3 hours and mgnt did NOTHING about it! He came out of their office screaming the uilding was on lock down, they never called the police! At 7 am someone pulled the fire alarm; 5 service animals, 8 floors up, alone with disabilities. They turned the water off for an entire day. And get this, I HAVE LIVED HERE FOR 3 ½ WEEKS!!! DO NOT RENT IN THIS BUILDING OR RIVERSTONE PROPERTY «MANAGEMENT»!!! You WILL regret it!
The photos on the web site are even close! No heat, no fridge, no stove and mold. Really, don’t rent properties from these people! These pictures below are NOT even representative of this building NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Truly the worst place I’ve ever lived. Not only is the management rude, but within the first year of living there my apartment started literally falling apart. The paint started peeling off the walls and all fixtures started falling off, and you could never get maintenance to come any of it. Upon trying to move in and out of the building they over booked the freight elevator so we had to move in shifts. Then when we finally severed ties with this place by paying our last months rent the lost our check. I would never recommend this place.

We lived in The Vue for one year. One the first the day Ben, the manager yelled at me to move my moving truck from the area they asked me to park it.
They had my rental car towed from the same area about 5 months later. I told them I would be parked there for about 30 minutes while I packed the vehicle to go on a trip, they said it was ok and then towed it. When I called the tow company they said they would release my car if The Vue called them and asked for it to be released. I requested The Vue call them and they outright refused. I had to pay for the rental car, and because it was towed on a Friday I had to pay for the entire weekend it was impounded.
I was also told that the downstairs media room was free for anyone to use, but could be purchased for parties and closed off so that only your guests could go in. I had 2 people in the media room besides myself and Ben and the cleaning woman came in and accused us of stealing the remote to their A/​C system and asked us to leave if we did not pay them $ 11.00 dollars for being in there at 9am. They claimed the money was so that the cleaning woman would clean the toilet. Shouldn’t she clean the toilet daily anyway? It’s a public bathroom for anyone in the building.
The cleaning women doesn’t actually clean anything, she sits in the media room all morning texting. The gym is not kept clean, there is dirt on the floor for several days from people wearing muddy shoes in there. The gym machines are always broken and the paper towels are never stocked.
We called and asked the front desk to replace our kitchen light and we were told that they do not do that. When we asked the maintenance staff to fix the light they immediately came and fixed it.
The front office staff is inept at their job. They blatantly lie to you about your fees and steal your packages. They leave the office on tours and frequently forget to lock the door to the office.
They always raised the prices on the rent, the water and the trash every month. When we tried to move out the claimed we needed to write them a letter notifying them we were leaving even though our lease was ending. They said for every week we didn’t give them a letter they would charge $ 30.00. Then after we paid the last months rent, they told us we owed another month because we only paid the previous months rent and not this months.

I’ve lived here for about 4 months now and overall have been unhappy with a few things.
The apartment location /​layout is great, but that’s about it. I moved here hoping to spend a little more to get a better services. Not the case. 1100 dollars for 550 sq ft bedroom with nice layout, but awful finishes. I’ve had trouble with the stove, the sink, not having hot water, (community) washers being broken, and moths.
I had an underground parking spot (which was ridiculous small and inconvenient to pull in and out of) until I got rid of it because they charged me a late charge for a rent check that wasn’t late. The leasing woman I worked with didn’t seem to give a shit about it and lied when she said she had spoken with someone and said there was nothing she could do. I figure if they want to charge me 100 dollars for a BS late check, then i’ll cancel my parking for the next 10 months, so let them lose out on 800 bucks… btw, the crappy inconvenient parking spot I mention, 90 bucks a month…
I wish I could give a good review about this place, considering the assistant manger was very helpful in helping me get my place (but isn’t that how it always starts), but the repeated issues, management, bullshit «late charges» keep me from doing it.
Obviously no one working here gives a shit about their performance considering this place has had shitty reviews for a few years now.

Staff, for the most part, is friendly. What I pay $ 1270/​mo. for is that it’s located right next to PSU. Good thing I don’t have a car because the parking garage is ridiculous small and way overpriced.
I constantly waste water in the shower waiting for it to warm up. Maintenance has been here twice and says to just let it run. The owner of this place needs to invest in some upgrades because this place is becoming obsolete.
Bottom line: Of the Riverstone Residential PSU trifecta (Vue, Lovejoy Fountain, Park Plaza), this place has the worst value. Pay the extra $ 100/​mo. for Lovejoy — lived there for a year and I regret leaving just to save a few bucks. If cost is important, go to Park Plaza — my friends have lived there for two years and it is pretty much the same as the Vue.

DO NOT LIVE HERE! It’s absurdly expensive, the leasing consultants were either rude or spacey, things constantly break, the secured entry system is a joke, the parking garage is dreadful, and the laundry room is always packed.
I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment on the 13^th floor from February 2010-​February 2012. Looking back, I’m not sure how I made it 2 years. The apartment was a little over 500 sq. ft. with a large balcony with rent at $ 1,080/mo. The bedroom barely fit a queen size bed and a dresser, the kitchen had about 2 feet of useful counter space and no dishwasher, and the living room uncomfortably fit a couch, chair, and TV. The one great thing was the large balcony, one of 8 in the building, that was nice in the spring and summer. It was large enough for a grill and hammock.
I don’t want to bash the entire staff because some of them were very friendly, though it’s hard to say who will be there as the turn over rate is quite high. In my 2 years the entire staff changed at least twice. Customer service seems to be their last priority. One evening when my boyfriend was waiting for the elevator he noticed a guy that lived on our floor with a bike and asked him why he didn’t use the bike storage in the sub-​basement. The guy didn’t even know there was bike storage and my boyfriend noticed one of the employees, Vy, standing there. He had head phones on and took one off when he noticed he was being asked a question. The simple question was: How much does the bike storage cost? Vy’s response: Oh, I can’t hear you, I’m not working right now. He then put the head phone back on and stood there like nothing happened. In case you’re curious, the bike storage is free. My boyfriend found this out after reporting Vy to the manager who didn’t seem to care.
There were constantly problems with the elevators, the pipes, and the garage door broke twice. They claim it’s a secured entry building, and in a sense it is in that they give you a key card to enter. Forget your card or visiting a friend? Stand outside for 5 minutes and someone will let you in. When the garage door broke nobody was able to get out for about an hour and once they were able to open it, it remained open for a week until maintenance got to it. The parking spaces are uncomfortably tight and expensive. Good luck fitting into the tiny spots if you drive a larger vehicle. The «deal» with my apartment was 1 spot for $ 50 and any additional $ 130. The laundry room was always busy as there are only 10 washers and dryers, $ 1.50 to wash and $ 1.50 to dry. They do use the website LaundryView so you don’t have to haul your laundry down there to find out they’re all taken, and most of the time it was accurate.
Vue Apartments are many things, but they’re far from luxurious.

This place kinda blows. Crazy expensive, things break or are under repair a lot. Oh yeah and check in with the concierge… uuuhhh what concierge? Feel secure with that door entry system? Sit outside for 10 minutes and count the number of people who actually enter using a key. Be sure you take a detailed inventory of damages when you move in, know your security deposit rights and renter rights. All that aside, let’s be honest, the view from the top is aces.

How have I not reviewed this place?
Alright, so I lived here from July 2009 to June 2010.
I can’t review the leasing specialists nor the managers because the ones that were there while I lived there since moved on. When I lived there the leasing specialists were awesome and great to talk to. The manager was nice, but the assistant manager was a different story.
The apartment:
Had a 2 bedroom/​1 bath.
Very small.
The kitchen has very cheap countertops.
Parking was an absolute bitch, in fact I found out they were charging people different prices on parking spaces. When I moved in there was a very high demand for parking so I think it was reasonable to charge $ 125/​month, but then I found out people were paying below $ 75!
The biggest problem I had with this place was not so much the people who worked there or the apartment itself, it was the move out process and the amount of money I was charged. A deposit of $ 300 was paid for move-​in, and during the months leading up move out, I had referred 2 different friends to move in and earned a credit toward rent of $ 300 a piece, totaling $ 600. I knew I was bound to get a check from them, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. They managed to charge over $ 400 to replace the «cardboard» kitchen countertops. They also claimed that I left stuff in the apartment. I did make a video upon move out, but they still didn’t look at it. The woman from Riverstone on the phone was extremely rude and screamed at me to the point she slammed the phone. To say I was pissed off was an absolute understatement.
My advice is follow up on any problems you may have with maintenance, because I didn’t do so and ended up getting charged for the counters. It is a great location especially if you go to PSU, and if you wanna get «free» parking in the building, my advice is to check out the garages during night and day, to see what is possibly vacant. I did it for a while. if not parking on the other side of the 405 is a good option as well if you don’t mind walking to that parking zone.
4 stars for the good experience with the sitting leasing agents while I was there.
–1 star for the woman on the phone & riverstone and not willing to overlook my video evidence, and not reversing certain charges.

This is the worst management and apartment complex that I have ever dealt with. The ONLY good thing about this place is the location. 95% of the staff is rude and extremely condescending. They absolutely take advantage of the fact that a large percentage of their tenants are young students. They will try and get away with doing as little as possible when helping you solve an issue. Be sure to ask for a walk-​through IN PERSON with one of the inspectors before you move out, or they will charge you for false «damages and repairs» that are not needed. I would NEVER recommend the Vue (or Parkway Plaza which I believe Riverstone Management also owns and operates) to anyone.

Whatever you do, do not expect anything from the VUE. They call themselves a luxury apartment complex, and they are anything but. Absolutely HORRIBLE management, rude and unresponsive!
Angela (the manager she calls herself) is unfriendly, unsympathetic, heartless and anything but helpful.
I stayed here for only a short time and could not wait to get out.
Upon my move in, which was about a week later than originally planned (making me have to get a hotel at MY OWN COST) and once actually in, the apartment WAS NOT EVEN READY. Stains on the floor, dirty oven, sink, bathroom, lights out, windows and seals not cleaned, just like someone had just moved out! Not to mention the apartment looked nothing like the model we were shown.
During my stay-​the management never once helped us. We had several problems that just went ignored.
1 major problem was when they were working on our roof. They worked way past posted hours of work, until 3am even! Loud, machines, dust and with tar fumes coming straight into my window! The management did nothing. This was when I decided to get out of this apartment!
Upon leaving they offered no sympathy, no credit for the inconvenience, not to mention the health concerns I had (my dog and us were in the apartment with toxic fumes coming in for 3 days straight!). They even charged us $ 1000 just for leaving!!! (We even gave a 30 day notice). Like I said, heartless greedy people.
If that wasn’t enough, once we moved out we received a move out statement that was ridiculous. They completely took our deposit, claiming «damages» «excess dirt», etc. WE LEFT THE PLACE IN A BETTER CONDITION THAN IT WAS GIVEN TO US!!! After several attempts to call the office (no help) and even the corporate office (Riverstone management) we got no response whatsoever! As usual! They are an evil company!!!
Overall, this place is beyond a joke. Do not rent here and spread the word. Oh yeah, and they had bed bugs!!!
