Although Vivian’s does not look special from the outside, I can honestly say they serve one of the best burgers in the greater Portland area at an economical price. The burgers are just greasy enough to be delicious without ruining the burger. If you have not visited Vivian’s, I would highly recommend doing so.

Three delicious cheeseburgers, two kraut dogs, a soda, and a bag of chips = $ 12. Everything was tasty, cheap, and fast… isn’t that what you want out of your lunch spot? Next time I’d try one of the shakes, which looked so good. Be aware hours are limited and cash only… and enjoy.

Everytime I come around it’s always closed but then one day I finally found it open so gave it try. the burgers were pretty simple but very homely. Everyone in there seemed to know each other and was pretty friendly. You really get a small town feel here. Food was also not extravagant but not bad.

Cool, becasue it’s old and funky. The food is average but you cannot beat the atmosphere

Ok so, to preface this review, you have to go into Vivians knowing what your expectations are. This is a tiny, seasonal hamburger joint that serves just hamburgers and hot dogs plus a few other things like egg sandwiches and grilled cheese. You aren’t going to get a fresh deli sandwich or even fresh veggies to top your burger(onions are the exception) It kind of reminds me of the snack stand from old baseball and soccer games which gives me this great nostalgic feeling when I walk in. Its super old school w/wood paneling and a counter that you could theoretically sit at if there were stools there. If you are looking for classic burger joint w/a delicious greasy(but not disgusting) burger look no further. While I was there waiting for the burger I found out this place has been here for 60 years! I had a double cheese burger that had thin sliced white american cheese w/ketchup on it. Perfect amount of cheese and grease with a fluffy white bun that wasn’t trying to be any more than a cushion between me and the burger. This is just a classic old school burger joint. I didn’t really notice any of the disgustingness that the other commenter saw but I was also the only one in there. She made my food first then rang me up so no post money grossness and its early in the season so there weren’t any bugs… but maybe there were bugs b/c this place keeps the front door open all the time. Also, its ridiculously cheap– cash only though as a warning. Also only open from 10:30 to 3pm

When I saw this pop up in Unilocal Reviews, I was reminded of my own experiences at Vivian’s. Then my mouth started watering. This first review obviously went in there looking for some classy-@$$ burger place. Vivian’s is NOT that. This place has been a Portland landmark for years, burgers used to be made by women with bee-hive hair do’s, and the food still tastes delish. It’s totally greasy, simple menu, no frills. But damn, do they make a tasty burger. Yes — it’s wicked small. Yes — they have limited hours. Yes — few menu options. But their burgers are awesome. Sorry Sailor J. couldn’t enjoy it — but I’ve never once questioned going into Vivian’s. You just have to know what you’re getting into.
