Vicious Cycle

I was really excited about this place. When I got there most everyone was pretty nice. I had a rear tire with a nail patched. Reasonable prices.
When I picked up the bike, they said the front tire was low at 17psi. I explained that I had checked and topped up the air in the front and rear two days prior and set them to 32 psi. Joe replied that maybe their tire pressure gauge wasn’t very good. (I was shocked they were saying this to a customer!) A day later I went for a ride, but since they had commented on the low front, I checked my tire pressures before hand and found the front and rear set to 40psi! Yamaha specs say 32 and 34 front and rear. There was a couple small but noticeable scuffing/​scratches on my pristine wheels from their work, not a huuuge deal, but not the level of work I did when I was an auto tech. And the front valve stem was all cracked (not sure if it was them or just luck, but it’s only 2015 bike and aside from them, I’m the only person who has worked on the bike and I never noticed it before).
I went and asked them about these things and Joe became SUPER defensive and a little argumentative. I was calm just looking for clarification and he wouldn’t let me finish many of my sentences. Having been an auto tech and shop manager for 6 years, I know there are ways to handle this situation and salvage your customer base. He did everything wrong. Even going as far as saying they set most all bikes to 40 psi, when I asked about this. That is enough to never return. A simple, «sorry, that’s what we normally do, but I’d be happy to set them to Yamaha’s specs» would have gone a long way. But simply defending that you just willy-​nilly aired up my tires 25% more than Yamaha specs and not having any reason is kinda crazy; and then saying you do that to most peoples bikes. :/​
The only nice thing was Dustin, I think that was his name. Super professional and nice each of the times I spoke with him.

They’ve done great work on my 1975 Honda Supersport 400 °F, including tune up, electrical trouble shooting, and good accessories. Just the tuning and engine performance are worth the money. They also stock great accessories. They keep the price real, offering a range of approaches if possible (i.e., if you don’t want to replace that, you can get by for six months without it, or, you can do this part yourself to save some money). Really, for an old vintage bike, you want a passionate expert with good sense – which is Viscous Cycle.

This place is a great example of stuck up pricks. Don’t go there. Everyone has some attitude and Joe is a totally asshole. The people who work at the counter are rude and it’s as if you’re asking them for a favor to help you. I don’t really care about what Joe does as far as racing, when you own and run a shop and retail business that what your business is not racing. They should close the front and stay focused on what every the hell Joe wants to do cause it sure isn’t helping anyone, buy your stuff online, its cheaper and less hassle.

I called up Vicious Cycle last night asking if they’d be able to squeeze me in or if they’d accept a walk-​in for a basic service (oil change, chain, etc.). The woman on the phone was courteous and polite, and she said they can usually do walk-​ins in the morning. She did stress the fact that the services can pile up so I should arrive early so I can be there –right– at opening time.
I got there about 5 minutes prior to opening the next morning. The gate was open, as was the shop door. I parked and waited near the gate as 10:00 rolled around, then I waited near the front door.
I stood outside for about 15 minutes and saw one employee walk out of the shop, then walk back in. Didn’t acknowledge me there, but he did have time to look at my bike parked outside the gate for a few seconds. I knocked on the door after that 15 minutes and heard some activity in the building, nothing that was too loud that they wouldn’t have heard me, either. I stood outside til 10:20, then left.
It’s good to be ignored. The extra star is for the nice lady I talked to yesterday.

This shop is completely unreliable and unprofessional. I was interested in purchasing a 2005 Suzuki GSX-​R 750 that was on consignment at the shop. Let me just say right now, I feel sorry for the owner of the bike. My first actual contact was replying by phone to a Craigslist ad that has the bike advertising for $ 5500, so I called and asked to speak to the internet manager or a sales representative to make a cash offer, the lady that answered the phone after I explained my intentions explained to me that she didn’t have time to deal with me and that someone eventually would get back to me, that never happened… A few days later my friend and I drove from Vancouver to the shop to purchase the bike and once again make an offer, after being neglected for 10 or 15 minutes we finally got some face time with Joe about the bike, it was dusty, slightly greasy, but overall a pretty nice bike, definitely not show room material as they have neglected it. So we left to think about it and upon returning they avoided us like the plague, I think I even heard them whispering about us in the back room. Long story short, after being avoided for about 20 minutes we walked out. I wanted the bike, had the money and was treated very poorly, if you want to buy a bike or purchase parts and accessories for your motorcycle you should do business with motorsport Hillsboro because they’re professional or just buy off Craigslist! Steer clear!!! This is the bike I purchased minutes after walking out of their store, it’s a year newer with less miles

I don’t know how this is a «great little shop». Went into this shop just to ask a few questions about the build I was doing on my GS750. I came here because I thought they would have some knowledge being that they deal with vintage bikes. When I started talking with the lady up front I was already getting attitude, she was acting like her sitting there drinking her fucking coffee was the most important thing in the world. My question was about the twin caliper setup I was in the middle of doing on my GS. I had Superhawk rotors that were drilled out wrong and was asking if a GSXR rotor would work. That“s it nothing crazy. I figured Vicious Cycle might have an answer because I’m pretty sure they’ve done similar swaps. So the answer I got from her was «yeah we’ve done those swaps and our guys make sure to do a lot of research before doing a swap» which really pissed me off because guess what bitch I do a lot of research myself too before starting projects. My forks are GS1000 with ZX750 calipers and superhawk rotors. Made custom brackets for the calipers and everything. So don’t talk down to me like I don’t know what I am talking about. I had that one simple question wondering if GSXR rotors would work because you know what it is nice sometimes talking to local companies that deal with vintage bikes instead of having my face glued to a damn computer screen.
In conclusion FUCK YOU Vicious Cycle. I guess you only give the time of day to people buying your over priced complete bikes or having service repair. I will be posting this on multiple forums talking about your shitty customer service. Feel free to reply to this I will give you my phone and I can talk on the phone.

They did good work on my Honda Shadow. It needed several different things done and they were as fast as could be expected and also very good about communicating what would happen.

I’ve known the owners since 2005. They are dedicated owner operators of this company, lifelong pros in racing and winning, running their great shop, and building winning bikes and long term relationships. Recently moved to a bigger shop on SE Division. Glad to see them doing well in a business that they love, that has been their life.
