This place is awesome! Anytime I want wine, they are just an elevator ride away. Best part is they stay open until 9 on the weekdays and 10 on Friday and Sat. The three guys that work there are all super friendly and always have a great attitude, even when I’m coming in as they are closing.:) Thanks for being so awesome.

When you live, work or visit in a smaller community such as South Waterfront a convenience store of any type is a blessing. Urbana Market is just that, the only convenience store/market on South waterfront. Urbana carries a little bit of everything because they realize that they serve a large residential community that depends on them. Lottery tickets, adult beverages, soda, fresh made deli sandwiches, frozen entrees, ice cream, fruit, soup, personal hygiene items, all kinda snacks and if you need a greeting card they even have those. Everything is more expensive than if you went to a regular chain grocery store but come on, if you don’t feel like driving or don’t have the time to go to chain store it’s worth running over to Urban Market. 2015-124

The positive is that this is the only convenience store in the South Waterfront area, so it’s super convenient for when I want something right now and don’t feel like walking or taking the streetcar to Safeway or Target. They have a decent selection of snacks and everyday household items, and I find myself going quite often. When I came down with the flu last year and could barely make it out of my apartment, this place was a total lifesaver. Unfortunately, the prices are so high that it’s almost not even worth it. I understand it’s harder for small businesses to compete with the bigger chains, but it’s very difficult to convince myself to pay $ 5 – 6 for a box of cereal. When it comes to pricing, every item at Urbana seems to be $ 2 more expensive than it would be at a normal grocery store. That’s acceptable if you’re only getting one item you desperately need, but it really starts to add up when you’re buying a variety of supplies to make a certain dish.

Nice neighborhood market that has a little bit of everything. They also have wine and beer and late night treats. In the am we’ve gone there to buy pancake mix, eggs and sausage. They really do have quite a bit of stuff and a nice place for the community.

This store is great if you’re in a pinch. The most frustrating thing about it is that if you need to use a debit or credit card, they make you spend $ 5.00 worth on merchandise before they will allow you to use your card. Just maddening. Pretty sure that has to be illegal. Anyway, like I said, if you’re in a pinch, it’s great to have it just down the street, but you better have cash or you’re guaranteed to be forced into spending five dollars.

This is a great neighborhood store. They carry my brand of dog food, any snack my PMS cravings call for, wine, ice cream, batteries… the folks who work here are friendly but not intrusive. I really appreciate having this market and it’s great that they’re open seven days a week.

Great selection, decent prices for a neighborhood market, very friendly staff. I’m glad they’re here when I need a last minute six pack or bottle of wine.

When I moved into the neighborhood I knew Urbana existed but definitely under appreciated its presence. I’ve come to find out that it has a great beer selection among other snacks and goodies that you might need(like dental floss!) I hear they even serve a bento and sandwiches during lunch time. Being in the South Waterfront area puts you a bit far from any supermarket, but Urbana helps to fill the void in emergent situations.

I really appreciate that Urbana market is a real corner store. They don’t just sell crap, and they don’t nickle and dime you with debit/credit card charges. I can actually go here and buy lunch. They have grab and go sandwiches and a case of frozen entrees. Sure, it’s a little pricey for the frozen entrees and a few of the convenience items — but hey– when you need tampons, you need tampons, it’s worth an extra $ 1.50. The staff is super nice and they don’t bother you — total plus for a convenience store.

I just purchased my last item at Urbana Market. After being a loyal and local patron for 2 years I was told as I approached the young female cashier that I had never seen before«we no longer allow dogs in here». Now, mind you, I always have my now 6 year old black lab that everyone loves by my side. The South Waterfront has a high concentration of dog lovers which has helped create the population and business grow here. I suggest that the owners of Urbana Market take a moment and reflect who has helped them grow their business! C’mon dog lovers, lets boycott this behavior!

I like Urbana Market. I think for a convenient store it has a great selection of things, thus making it very convenient. However what I DON’T like about this place is that they are closed on sundays. In an area where there is NOTHING why close the one thing that is the most important in the neighborhood? Where would I go at 9:30 at night if I ran out of wine/beer, or what if I had a «special friend» come over where can I get«preventatives»?? My suggestion is make it more convenient for us all by opening on sundays as well. Thanks :)

Urbana Market recently opened in the Meriwether building along the new South Waterfront. They carry all your daily staples, like pastas, paper towels, milk, and beer but offer many in organic or local form. They are locally and independently owned, too. Although things carry a bit higher price, who can argue with convenience when you’ve got guests coming over and you need an extra jar of pasta sauce? Also try their delicious deli sandwiches, made fresh each day. Chicken salad is my favorite. An over-sized helping of salad served on sourdough bread with sweet mayo dressing, grapes, walnuts, and celery. Only $ 5!
