This spot has been my main dry cleaners/seamstress for a few years and they have done excellent work. Recently I took in my son’s pants and a skirt of mine to be hemmed. After about 2 wears(without washing) the hem in my skirt came out. I brought the skirt back to University Cleaners and asked if they could fix the poor job. I was instantly taken aback by the female owner when she denied they did the work on my skirt. We pulled up the receipt which read«brown skirt» but she said it must be a different skirt. Through the mild language barrier I understood that she said they would never do a hem job such as what was done to mine. I assured her it was done there and she began to yell at me. Literally yell at me. It was awful. I was shocked and I felt hopeless. I didn’t know what to do to prove it. She accused me of lying and said she would check her security cameras to which I said ‘yes! Please! You will see me with this skirt!’ but that didn’t help. She called me a liar to my face. Finally, her husband told her to stop, he would ask their seamstress and he said they would take care of it. When I returned to pick up the skirt later, I was waiting for an apology assuming they checked the video and talked to their seamstress. Nope. She said the seamstress said she didn’t do that work and she didn’t have time to check the cameras, but they took care of it anyway and fixed the skirt. She made me feel like I took advantage of them. I will never go back again. The whole situation was mortifying and frustrating. They need a better system and seamstresses that are truthful. I will NEVER go there again, which is a shame.

I’m so happy to have found a good dry cleaner after living in Portland for three years and being sorely disappointed by previous experiences. I do not understand why Portland doesn’t have more upstanding dry cleaners. It’s a little odd if you ask me, but I digress … I was very happy with University Cleaners: easy access, ample parking, fair pricing, timely service and excellent quality. The woman who helped me was so nice and clearly cares about customer service — she clipped off several fabric pills on the sweater I had cleaned and meticulously checked it over before bringing it up to me. Those little details matter. I plan on being a repeat customer.

I had a white blazer with a very hopeless mud stain and John at University Cleaners, despite warning me it may be an impossible stain to remove, was able to completely erase any trace. Him and the other employees were very accommodating and provided incredible quality and service. Thank you guys for ensuring I looked great right before speaking in front of 400 people, it went so well and my blazer added to my confidence! I would highly recommend this business!

Seriously the best! I called a little frantic because I needed my white dress dry cleaned for my graduation(which was 2 days away since I am a procrastinator) I called and asked how soon it would be done and the owner told me he was just about to put in the white load and he would wait for me to bring my dress. I took it down and it was ready the next day! Sparkling white, pit stains were gone! It was great. I was taken aback by his kindness and willingness to wait for me. Thank you! I will always come back to this cleaners.

Great prices, quick turn around, high quality adjustments & hemming. Very friendly staff. Long term neighborhood business. 5⁄5 would drop off dirty clothes again.

Warning: This is a terrible dry cleaner. I brought a beloved cashmere sweater to be dry cleaned as well as several shirts to be laundered. The sweater was returned to me shrunk. How one shrinks something which is supposed to be «dry cleaned», I’m not sure, but there it is. It is now unwearable. I would not recommend this business at all.

I’ve always been greeted by nice people here. Have only been a few times but am always satisfied with their work. Prices seem higher than I used to pay back east but like the other reviewers say… You get what you pay for– quality! Weekends have been busy so don’t be surprised if there are at least 2 people ahead of you.

Very friendly staff and great work. Prices are certainly fair among others in the area. The store postings related to Quality are refreshing. Good place!

The service at University Cleaners is top notch! Went here once on a Saturday in a last-minute panic and unfortunately they don’t clean on Saturdays. The owner was nice enough to let me know of another dry cleaner in Portland that does, even though it was taking away their business, so I could get what I needed in time. I vowed to come back and try this place later. I was not disappointed! They were just as friendly and helpful as my first visit. They offered a few different days I could pick my blouse up depending on when I wanted to wear it. Clothes came out great and the price is reasonable. Owned by a University of Portland alum so great to support your fellow UP Pilots!

Customer service is pretty good. On the downside I asked for heavy starch on my shirts and it wasn’t even close. They also don’t accept American Express!

I brought in four pants to get altered. When I got it back, they were altered m0re than what was measured. The rude owner scolded me for the mistake even though he took the measurement. He said he can try to fix it but charged me an additional $ 5 per pants. My pants were irreparable and a total goner. Not only was I charged twice for alterations and not ever able to use my pants, the owner was rude and obnoxious. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Never been disappointed. They have cleaned leather for me, pressed a bridesmaid’s dress and cleaned numerous other items. Always friendly, timely and inexpensive. I have come across some complaints, primarily about their alterations, I can’t speak to that as I hem my own things– but all other services have been primo.
