Scammy. I reserved a truck online, and when I went to pick it up they tried to give me a different truck with half the mileage. Beware this uhaul location.

This review is long overdue. I didn’t leave a review before just because I don’t usually feel like spending time being negative, and I knew I couldn’t prove anything so it wasn’t worth it. But I’m still pissed about it so I’m going to vent. Someone at this location stole a very expensive item from my purse a few months ago. I left my purse in one of the trucks after dropping it off — that is my fault of course, and if my whole purse was stolen, or every valuable item in there, I wouldn’t blame the employees. However, after I picked up my purse, I noticed in the car that my portable cell phone charger was missing from the zipped up pouch in my purse. My wallet and my money was there, but the charger was gone… Obviously a random thief would have taken everything. So thanks dude who stole from me. I rarely get to have things like that, it was a gift, and I can’t afford to replace it. You’re an a-​hole.

Quick recap. They slapped on the 14 $ insurance when I specifically said I didn’t need it. Then I get a call at 9am the day after I returned it saying they didn’t have the keys that I gave them. I tried calling Ross the «owner» no answer. 1 star.

The person running the counter was super helpful and attentive. He was processing multiple reservations when we came into the store and was both helpful and quick in getting through them. He apologized for the wait (which wasn’t necessary) answered all of our questions, explained everything thoroughly, and got us hooked up and out the door.
There was some confusion about the gas meter when we dropped it off, and we were charged an additional fill up fee… but after speaking with a gentleman from UHaul named Ross, we were reimbursed for the difference.
Overall, great move. Good equipment and good service.

I’m only giving this place one star because
I have too. This is the worst uhaul company I have ever had. They will try to
Charge for everything possible. They told me the tank was ¼ full and we need to return it that way. We drove no more than 5 miles before the gas light was on. They then went on with contract and argued with me. I do not recommend them. Terrible location, awful service. Worst uhaul ever.

I rented a U-​haul here to move this last weekend. The day after returning it, I noticed that I couldn’t find my guitars, my friend remembered – to our horror– that he’d forgotten that he’d put them behind the seat in the cab of the truck. I called the following business day to see if they could find them for me. The man who answered stated that he would look and call me back. I did not get a call back. I called the following day and asked again. They acted as though they had never heard from me before and asked around to whomever else was working, no one had seen them. I asked if they’d actually looked in the U-​haul and the man stated that it had been gone for the last day or so and was now in Eugene. He made no offer to call down to Eugene or inform me how to get in touch with someone. I finally asked if they could call and he said he’d give me the number and the truck number.
I called the Eugene U-​Haul and reached a call center. I explained my situation and was transferred about three times before I got to someone who was able to look in the truck that I’d rented. Of course, it was not there.
It’s my understanding that every truck is examined prior to renting it to someone new. I can only assume this rental place stole my guitars or they didn’t look and the next people to rent the truck took them. In either case, they were very little help and made no attempts to help me get them back. I asked if they could take down my information if they showed up but they stated that they had no system to notify the various locations of items found and who they might belong to. I have a hard time believing they don’t have SOME sort of system for lost items. It’s a moving company for goodness sake! Ugh. I’m totally heartbroken and will certainly be following up with the corporate office as well as filing a police report. I’m hoping someone might be able to find them taking it on tape as I’m sure most the rental places have camera’s.

U-​Haul is a fact of life. Nobody likes doing whatever it is that requires anything from U-​Haul. So when you finally sack up and quit procrastinating, you want the whole process to go off without a hitch.
In my day, I’ve been to U-​Hauls in many cities along the west coast, around 12 locations. Each one has its own personality, and you can’t predict, based on size or location, what it’s going to be. You don’t know until you go. Some are slow, some make you wait, some try to up sell everything, some can’t keep track of their inventory.
I’ve rented from this MLK location three times now and it is the best U-​Haul I’ve been to. Not aesthetically, though, at all. It’s a tiny office sandwiched between a 76 market and an auto repair shop. Five people, including the agent, would be a crowd in this outpost. It looks like the back office in an auto shop, nothing in it is white anymore. But that’s not what really matters. What’s important is the way the guys here conduct business.
At the risk of sounding like my grandfather, it’s tough to find businesses that operate on mutual respect and common sense. And when I find them, I am happy to pay it forward. The agents at this U-​Haul location are honest, respectful, and go out of their way to be helpful. They’ll explain things when you need it, skip it when you know what you’re doing, and you won’t get double charged if you bring the truck back 10 minutes late. There’s no BS, no wasted time, just good quality service.
What got me to sit down and write this review was when the agent I worked with yesterday, John (I think), happened to be passing by as I was returning the equipment today. It’s his day off, but instead of letting me hang around until the on-​duty agent was done with another customer, John helped me back the trailer in, get unhitched, checked out, and on my way without a second thought. I’m sure he spent another 30 minutes of his weekend dealing with paperwork. I’d give John a five star review if Unilocal had that option.
As a bonus, they always seem to have plenty of inventory. I’ve never had to make a reservation, all three times they had what I needed and just told me to come in when I was ready. Too bad they won’t do the actual packing and hauling for me.

We were severely overcharged, wish we would have read the other review before we rented from here. Returned it after they closed only had it 5 hours, never reimbursed any money and they put another charge on my card for an unknown item, guessing it was some dolly THEY left in the truck we never wanted or used. Don’t rent from this location unless you are returning when they are opened and you know exactly what they are billing you for.
