Trimet #75 – Milwaukie Transit Center/St. Johns

As a resident of the St. John’s area, the Tri-​Met Line #75 is the heart of the local public transit system. This line runs pretty much the length of North Lombard Street and serves as the link to the rest of the system. I often use it as the gateway to things like the North Lombard Transit Center. These Transit Centers then connect to the other buses as well as additional modes of transportation like trains (Max Line).
Overall, the system runs very timely. There are a plethora of Apps that will let you track arrival times by stop number. In addition you can buy a pass and display it on your Smartphone. The system can be interrupted by things like accidents or any other factor that influences traffic. This is all unavoidable.
The drivers are friendly and professional overall. I enjoy most of my interactions with them. In addition, they deal with many «personalities» so they deserve credit for maintaining positivity! I depend on this system and I am thankful for it every single day!

Going to give this line the full five star treatment. It runs up and down Lombard enough that I don’t need a schedule (not unlike the old joke, «men are like buses; another one comes along every 30 minutes.»). The drivers seem to all be friendly and courteous. Nothing wrong with that! I’m going to end on a high note and say simply how grateful I am for this bus line.

I feel like I’ve spent half my life on this bus. I’ve taken it the entire route of Milwaukie to St Jeezy many times, and about a hundred different legs in between over the years, including twice a day for a year to a job near Lloyd Center. Tis a quickie, too. #75 is one of those buses that is so busy, it hauls ass since there are so many stops, especially on 39^th (aka Cesar Chavez). There ain’t a lot of room for riff raff, either; the #75 drivers do not take any crap.
Probably the most important connection is at the Hollywood Transit Center, where the #75 connects with MAX for a hop skip downtown or out east to the airport. These days, that what I use it the most frequently for.
Thumbs up for this route. I can get from downtown Milwaukie up to Woodstock area in no time, or keep heading north for a full trip to see my homies up in St. John’s.

This is a very well used bus line. I use it, the neighbors use it, the homeless use it, sometimes not as intended, but use it nonetheless. The drivers are a tougher skinned bunch that a few other bus lines I frequent, and as long as the 4 has a route and runs durning rush hour, this will be a 3 for perfect functionality, the 4^th star is an experience. The 75 is about the most reliable aspect of trimet that I use.

Huge huge fan … this line alone can take one to extremely practical and useful places… fyi, take the #75 from the Hollywood TC (connects with the red line which heads to airport) back home, if you’re in the Piedmont or Hollywood areas. Or travel from Milwaukie to St Johns’ Cathedral Park, on a lark!
Awesome, eh?! Plus, huge spectrum of hours of operation… when in a pickle for the sunrise, or the sunset, just plop onto the TriMet. ever-​friendly.
PS TriMet, generally speaking, is stellar for user-​friendly trip-​planning and website; furthermore, those crafty city planners… knew what they were doing. Things run smoothly public transportation-​wise. and even though Fareless Sq is no longer, as of this year, all rails (MAX and streetcars) are still free within the zone. Coolio

The #75 runs frequently, starts early and runs late. It is usually very timely. All these things are important when riding a bus.
The bus drivers are an odd sort… last week the driver let not one but two unrestrained dogs on board. Hilarity ensued.

I have to say, since moving to St. Johns I was reluctant to give my heart to the #75. We have the #16, the #17, the #4, and the #44, all of which take us downtown. Who wants to go the long way to Southeast?
But tonight, as we boarded from the Max at 11:30 at night, I said to my travel partner, «Ahhh, the good old #75. It runs late, it runs often, and it’s always the new buses that are air-​conditioned and clean. When I lived on SE Woodstock, it took me to Hawthorne for coffee and breakfast, where I met you. When I lived on SE 46^th and Division, then on SE 33^rd and Division, it took me to work downtown then brought me home again, as well as up to delicious Stumptown coffee. When I lived on NE 46^th and Fremont, it took me to Belmont St. for beers and to our friends’ house on Dekum. And now, I live in St. Johns and it brings me home late at night, unlike those other buses which stop running or go the creepy back way through North Portland.
*romantic sigh* I didn’t want to give my heart back to the #75, yet it has won it again.»
My partner was quiet, then said, with some trepidation, «Uhh, that’s a… sweet story.»
