Outstanding! My wife and I were wanting something different, and we decided to try this place. Great decision! We were promptly seated and water served. We inquired about Sake, and the owner came over and quizzed us, and determined the sake best suited for our meal and taste. We then ordered, sushi as an appetizer. Excellent! I ordered the Hibachi steak and calamari, the wife ordered the Hibachi steak. The presentation cook came to our table, Adrian, and started the show. Great interaction and show. The food was remarkable. The Calamari steak needs to be called out: It was as good as anything you’re going to find in Monterrey California or anywhere else. Cooked to perfection and finished with a light garlic/lemon/butter. I’ll be back just to have that again! Very clean, in fact spotless dining area, and the bathrooms are very clean too.

Good show with warm service and good food. That being said, the sushi side is a bit slow and disorganized, service is a little patchy, and although they try hard to stick to gluten-free when asked, they have not yet pulled it off for us, and have caused pain both times we’ve been there. The Japanese grill scene is entertaining and the kiddos loved it. All in all it’s pretty good, but the service and attention to people who have dietary needs that are medically significant should be better.

We were looking for a teppin grill near Portland to replace our favorite one in SoCal. Very happy with Adrain, my husband actually likes it better than our old stand by. Fried rice, hibachi steak, shrimp … All cooked perfectly. The ginger and mustard sauces were fine, but Adrain suggested we try their hot sauce in the rice and it was really good! We will definitely be back!

Prices are about the same as a typical steak house with the benefit of live entertainment at your table. The food was awesome. We came for teppanyaki but also had a spicy tuna roll. The sushi was fine, no complaints. But the grilled food and entertainment at your table are what make this place better than most. I actually find it more appealing than Benihana’s because it’s just as good, just as entertaining, but more updated atmosphere and better prices. The meat and chicken were so tender and seasoned perfectly.

I cannot speak for the food, but we asked for an estimate on the wait when we arrived. We were told 45 minutes so we decided to stick around. After 45 minutes and watching party after party(with reservation) get seated, we asked how many more reservations were ahead of us… 3??? Then why would you tell a party of 7, 45 minutes in the first place???

Nice looking restaurant. We went there for sushi, which was just okay. It is a hibachi place primarily. Next time I will try that instead.

Everything about Tokio Table leaves something to be desired. I love a good Japanese Steak house and was thrilled to hear about Tokio Table opening. Unfortunately, it misses the mark. First, the ambiance. It is a sleek, club-like décor only exceedingly well lit and dead silent when the chef isn’t doin’ his thing. Some music would go a long way. Additionally, the poor use of space makes it seem empty and cold. Service is slow, friendly, but slow. We sat for a good 20 mins before our order was taken, after which there was no rush getting us our appetizers. In my experience with other places like this you’ve got a little side salad in front of your before you can get situated! Perhaps the most annoying thing to me is the +3 for fried rice. Just roll it into the cost of the meal! No one comes here for steamed white rice. I come to watch our chef fry everything up in the rice and gorge myself. I’ve gotten a sushi roll here once which was fine. I do like that they have local meat options. Otherwise, I’d rather drive out to Benihana, there I said it.

My boyfriend and I came into Portland for my 25th birthday after the previous day spent working up a killer appetite in bend at mt bachelor. Just a few nights ago my boyfriend got me to try some sashimi and I really liked it. So when it came to deciding what I wanted for my birthday lunch, I decided I wanted something that would leave me feeling physically good when I was done. So we went to Tokyo table and it was empty cause it was close to closing before dinner. The waitress was adorable and so kind and knowledgable. We got lots of absolutely delicious sashimi and some tasty hibachi. After the day spent walking around shopping and drinking some beers I had to decide birthday dinner. again, I just wanted to feel good after I was done. I’m use to being drawn to fried foods and always left tired and feeling like crap. I left lunch feeling almost high on life so I decided let’s not bother on testing out anything else. We went back for dinner and was treated like royalty. Everyone was so friendly and attentive and our hibachi chef was a badass. I will never forget this delicious double birthday experience. I’m now addicted to sashimi and will be back anytime I’m in Portland.

One of those rare Portland places that’s cool for adults with great food but also kid friendly without killing the vibe. Had a great time here last night — have always wanted to take my daughter to a good hibachi style place with all the bells, whistles and humor and this place did not disappoint. The food was excellent — I had the chicken fried rice, steak and scallops and even the green tea ice cream tempura for dessert. The staff was also very good especially the chef who prepared our meal — and gave extra special attention to our daughter. The atmosphere was very nice, modern and open. And was not too crowed at all — we even had our own table to ourselves unlike many similar places that try to pack as many folks as possible around a grill. Maybe just a slower Sunday night thing but still appreciated! We’ll be back again and often for sure!

Same concept as Benihana, but friendly staff. If I can give a tip I would say never go to a hibachi style restaurant hungry because you will leave the same way you came in, unfulfilled. The two ladies at our table kept saying they were ready to eat, but by the end of the food presentation, they needed a to go box. The pricing is not bad, $ 77 for three people and I ordered two sushi rolls, hibachi spicy chicken, teriyaki chicken, and hibachi steak. I thought it was kind of funny the chef kept counting out shrimp halves to distribute evenly amongst the table. I felt like we we rationing food during a bad storm… lol The chef was very friendly, and he appeared to enjoy his job, which made the experience lively and pleasant.

We came here for my Gf’s birthday dinner with her family and it was perfect! This time we had Carlos as our chef and all I gotta say is this guy is dope as heck. He did lots of fancy tricks and I have to say Tokio Table should be proud he works for them! He is very nice and sociable and he came from Benihana’s. It’s always nice to have someone that loves and enjoys their job and isn’t there just for a paycheck. 2 thumbs up for him. Our food was superb too and everyone there had a good time. Benihana’s is overrated and this place is closer. The price wasn’t too bad, but the awesome people and service there makes it worth it. I started off with soup and salad and then my special entrée was the hibachi chicken with calamari. It was made to perfection! We will definitely come back!!!

This place is busy, make a reservation! That being said, you are in for a treat! My wife and I went here for our anniversary and even though it was busy they made time for us and gave us a special treat to boot. We will probably make this our regular ‘special’ place. It is a bit spendy, but totally worth it!

The Tokio Salad Mix! You must visit this place. The staff is very nice and the place is clean and refreshing. Plenty of parking. The sushi is fresh and has a nice delicate flavor. My second time here and I love it!!!

Make sure to set a reservation, we just walked in and they still accommodated, we just had to sit at the bar for 30 minutes, no big… very fair price, good little date night with the wife. Food was incredible, and these aren’t your half assed chefs like benihana, they are the real deal. will be back

The BEST hibachi place I’ve ever been to. We thought we were just going to a sushi spot — pleasantly surprised!!! We ordered so much food, and the bill came out to only $ 60!!! 2 sushi rolls(if you like good heat on spicy tuna, this is your spot) — CA roll and Roppangi, tempura calamari, 2 beers and we split the scallops/chicken combo which came with shrimp, fried rice, salad, miso & veggies. Hot damn. So good.

Went with friends on a Saturday night, and there was plenty of seating. It didn’t start to fill up until 7:45 or so. The experience was much like Benihana, and the décor is really nice. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Five stars there. I didn’t have sushi, but people at our table did and it definitely looked good. I ended up wishing I had ordered that instead. My husband and I both had hibachi. I had scallops, and he had chicken and shrimp. Unfortunately, my scallops were overdone. As I sat there watching them cook… and cook… and cook, I could hear my inner Gordon Ramsay yelling, «What are you doing!?! Take them off!!!» The overcooking was unfortunate, but when cooking so many things while performing a show, I get how easy it would be to overcook scallops. The real disappointment that will probably keep us from going back is how incredibly salty our meals were. It was hard for me to finish my meal, and my husband didn’t finish his. Way too much salt. I took my chicken fried rice home and tried eating it cold the next day. Still too salty even then.

I can only speak on behalf of their sushi because that’s what I came here for. I found this place on Unilocal because I was in the area and was craving Japanese. I was satisfied with my meal, but didn’t leave with a feeling of needing to come back. The sushi wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t spectacular. The service was decent, but nothing special. I may want to try their hot food one day just because I like Benihana and some of the other Unilocal reviews are convincing me that this is a good alternative! As for parking, there is a small lot with maybe about 10 spots. The restaurant itself is pretty big with a lot of tables, but it was pretty empty when I went on a Friday night. The prices are decent for what you’re getting so I would suggest giving this place a try!

Better than I expected! I’m used to trying out new places with great reviews then end up being a bit disappointed but this place was pretty awesome! Our chef had a great sense of humor and made it very comfortable for all of us(you sit with other people and there’s a grill at each table). Their chicken fried rice is bomb! For the main entrée, we ordered the Hibachi Chateaubriand and asked for medium rare — so good! Their dipping sauces are delicious too. Oh and can’t forget about their miso soup. My boyfriend and I shared an appetizer(good chicken karaage) and one dinner entrée and that left us really full. We will be back!

What a surprise, Benihana style cooking on Division. We went there expecting a sushi bar and were greeted by a modern version of the childhood favorite. We ordered a special roll, sashimi and the steak and scallops, finishing off with the tempura banana. All was fresh, prepared perfectly and very tasty. Prices seemed reasonable and the service was good. Worth a try fellow Unilocalers.

Me and my sister went here for happy hour happy hour is only for one hour so you have to time it just right it wasn’t overly priced the sushi was good there was a new guy there so he was in training but everything was good overall I would definitely go back again as you can see from the pictures is very open space it’s a nice spot is just really you’re more likely to miss it if you’ve never been there before
