Description

Specialties

The Unscriptables is Portland’s best unscripted theatre company has a new home at Funhouse Lounge. We have shows every Saturday starting Nov 2011. We create innovative shows inspired by pop culture, playwrights, and favorite movie genres instantly. This is theatre without the safety net of a script. It’s dangerous and our performers are fearless. With one foot planted firmly in the tradition of theatre and the other leaping forward into the future, we are pushing the limits of what theatre «is» or «should be». With the help of our audience, we are creating magical moments that could never have been scripted and will never be recreated. Each and every show is unique and above all else FUN! Join us for some laughs.

We also teach classes, for improv, acting, and sketch comedy.

History

Established in 2010.

The Unsctiptables is the combined effort of Andy Barrett (former Artistic Director of Portland Improv Group and founding member of San Diego Theatresports) and Trenton Shine (former Artistic Director and founding member of San Diego Theatresports). Together they have 40 years of Improvisational theatre experience. Together we hope to create truly inspired, innovative, and fun unscripted theatre.

He has performed with numerous troupes (including every Theatresports company on the the West coast), and participated in international improv festivals. Trenton has studied under some of the top improvisational teachers in the world, including Keith Johnstone (author of Impro, Creator of Theatresports) Brad Sherwood (Whose Line is it Anyway?) Gary Austin (founding member of The Groundlings) Stephen Nachmanovitch (author of Free Play) Randy Dixon (Artistic Director of Unexpected Productions).
