Pacman, pool and ping pong? All my favorite words that start with p… And the Moscow mules are awesome. Vodka.

The Nest, I love you. Mainly I love that your pool table is on the top floor and I love your velvety walls on the second floor. The drinks are good too.

All around this place is a solid bar with a very comfortable dive bar vibe without being too divey. Highlights include plenty of areas to hang out in, free pool, and good drinks. They also have a good patio.

Two levels. Ordered our drinks upstairs and then drank downstairs where bingo was about to start. Drinks were delicious. Staff was friendly. Look like it is a fun place to hang out! It certainly served my purposes. And, I liked the name of my drink! «Oh, f*ck yeah!»

They need be more consistent with the drinks, every time we come it tastes different depending on who makes it… one bartender is the sweetest I loved having her around, the others are haughty and rude.

Multiple floors of fun! We just love the feel of the place. First floor is Ping pong. Second floor is bar, a few tables. 3rd Floor just seats and tables to chill and talk but a dope area. If love to kick it up here with a bunch of friends and just chat it up. 4th floor is the Pool table. There’s also Pacman($.50) and a table area. I’d love to take this area over too and kick it with the mates. Drinks are affordable. We got a micro and a sangria for $ 10.50, not complaining. They’ve got a decent selection of beers on tap as well. Wells are $ 4, they’ve got PBR on tap for $ 2.50 and really great prices on their specialty drinks to boot. They really try to make this place an affordable drinking spot, and that it is! This is a really chill kick it spot that reminds me a lot of Amsterdam. We’ll definitely be back here to hang especially when we have friends in town or make us some of our own here since we just landed in town.

Finally this location is here to stay! The bartenders are nice(can you still believe you are in Portland?), the drinks are cheap, ping pong, pool table, cozy upstairs lounge and nice patio with heat lamps. I also have great random conversations with cool people. Great Belmont bar!

I’ve been trying to find a bar that makes me feel right at home since moving to the area and I can easily say that this is one of those places. The patio provides the perfect spot for a group hangout, but the upstairs seating can lend you a more private corner if you’re in the mood for something a little more low-key. The Lavender Gin and Tonic is a delicious take on a classic with a floral punch — it’s a must. Best part: the drinks are decent prices. Check it out if you’re in the area!

I’m like a bird, I only fly away, to the Nest: that was a pun. P.S. I’m leaving you, Jim.

The Nest has made great use of its space. That said, it’s nothing special and a little overpriced. I like how this bar divides itself, between the classic dive-styled main barroom, the spacious basement with a ping-pong table and jukebox(feels kind of fratty, but in a good way), the big patio, and two levels of cozy upstairs lounges. They definitely made each area stand out, too. Because of the welcoming atmosphere they provide, between their friendly-yet-efficient service to the way they make each room stand out, I’ve given them a star more than I normally would’ve. That said, it’s not a great bar. Simple mixed drinks are overpriced and dominated by unpleasant vodka + mixer/fruit combinations. Sorry, mid-shelf vodka, over-brewed iced tea, and a drop of lemon juice do not justify $ 7, nor is it appropriate for a poorly mixed Dark ‘n Stormy(though kudos to them for using Black Seal and real ginger beer). They have a decent liquor selection, though I wouldn’t order anything too fussy here. For example, my friend’s gin & tonic was nice, stiff, and refreshing. Perhaps their well drinks are what makes them stand out. I can dig that. But I’ll have to return sometime to confirm whether that’s the case. The list of beers on draft is short and not particularly interesting(though based on the photos I’ve seen, that could just be what’s currently listed, and your mileage may vary). That said, you can get a tallboy of Rainier for $ 2 outside of happy hour. That’s not a bad deal at all. Never underestimate the value of a good, cheap, cold tallboy, especially as the night comes to a close. Particularly when it’s Rainier or Tecate(a buck more than the Rainier), and not PBR or Hamm’s. With this much space to hang out in, decorated as it has been and staffed with multiple friendly bartenders, the Nest is a dive with decent atmosphere. I can’t rate it highly on drinks or value, but I give it credit for making good use of its space. In another city, it’d probably rank higher. In Portland, though, there are better dives.

You walk up the stairs and you enter the broom room with a copper bar and a sweet bartender. Sometimes sassy, but usually and mostly always sweet and polite(hard to come by these days). They have amazing cocktails, cheap too(avg — $ 7). There’s a cucumber infused vodka and it is refreshing and light. In the back, there is a ping-pong table and more tables. If you keep going, a fenced-in patio with picnic tables and umbrellas. Upstairs there is a pool table and a little hang out lounge. It gets busy on the weekends. Even during the week, there’s a buzz. The crowd is eclectic and changing. I’ve never had a bad experience. It’s one of those bars that is chill to start getting drunk, being drunk, and ending drunk.

I have to admit, it was sincerely a sad day when The Nest on Alberta burned to the ground. My boyfriend played one of his earliest gigs there and I had great memories playing epic games of ping pong. During a night out on Belmont, The new Nest definitely required a visit! I felt like I was in someone’s home. The first level had the bar and a few tables. Go further and you’ll find the ping pong table for some serious fun and competition. Props to the bartender for quick and accurate service. I ordered one of their specialty drinks(I already forget the name) but it had vodka, lemonade, and blackberries. It was spectacular. Tip him well! You’ll know who it is by his quickness and efficiency. You can go up the stairs from the bar for the next level which consists of a pool table and they’ve got board games to play hiding on the shelves near the door. They have cribbage! It’s an old person’s game, but definitely a fun one with people who know how to play it. It doesn’t have the same divey-ness as the old Nest, but this one is just as fun and I think it’ll get to where it was before.

There are a lotta solid bars in Portland, but none are quite this cozy. It’s like a treefort for adults. But the treefort is designed by a 5th grader, whose understanding of what adults enjoy is founded on countless dinner parties spent locked in the basement. The upstairs has pool; the bottom floor ping-pong and a projector playing the Blazers; a stack of board games rests somewhere in between, a jukebox, pinball. What’s great is that all these things are really fun and always will be. The Nest’s split-level layout neatly cordons off the disparate stimuli into about 5 areas, vibes. Some people below complain about how annoying and disruptive the ping pong table can be. Hey y’know maybe you shouldn’t sit by the ping pong table then. Maybe you should go upstairs to the rock’n’roll-noir lounge where there’s probably some line cooks creaming their jeans, discussing sourdough bread. In the Nest you can move where the mood suits you, and there will be interesting folks to greet you. After bailing on the sourdough enthusiasts, you may find yourself shooting pool with some bristly-lipped rubes. Make sure to cleanse your palate with some face-time with the barkeeps — they are a dynamic part of that experience. When Jen & co. aren’t serving drinks, they’re probably on the patio smoking. In any venue they’ll chat you up, and call you by name. I’ve never felt so bashful handing over my debit card. «Hi there, Jackson!» — my name is Jackson! wow! So don’t pay in cash, I guess. Or just introduce yourself(yeah, do that). As expected, the draft list is on-point and the cocktails are — they’re good. I was about to say«quirky» but I realized that’s dumb. Some drinks are hot; some are cheaper than others; you can order an old fashioned unless they’re out of orange peels. This is the one bar in Portland I would be happy to get snowed-in at. Unless they’re out of orange peels.

The Nest is a four story house that was turned into a bar, it is cute and unique. You can find me here any day of the week. Its walking distance from my house, and serves as a great neighborhood bar. Bartenders are nice and attentive and even remember your name/face after a few visits. The drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is super chill, im always meeting new people every time i go, and the patio is great for making drunken summer memories.

If you don’t mind being chased out of the bar and being cussed at for leaving a 12 percent tip this place is great. Really it is. The drinks are reasonable and it has a nice feel with lots of different areas to hang out. We played pool and ping pong and sat outside in a nice outdoor area. The issue we had was with the crazy bartender as seen in other reviews. It all started when she got mad at us for ordering food. She suggest for us to order pizza instead, when we said we still wanted the food from her she rolled her eyes and stomped off. When we were leaving we left a 12 percent tip. Not the best but being as she was rude I thought it was okay for our experience. When she got the receipt back she cussed at us as we were walking out the door. She proceeded to follow us saying we are no longer welcome back. I would give this bar a three or four if it was not for the crazy bartender.

Cool place bit the bartender was awful. She was offensive to my boyfriend and unapologetically messed up our drink order. I tipped less than usual because she was so rude. I sat upstairs with some friends and a few minutes later she actually came upstairs and found me and informed me that I was cut off(it was our1st drink) and that neither I nor my friends were ever welcomed back because I didn’t tip enough. I think this was a bit overboard and she seemed like she wanted a reaction out of me. Anywho, if that dyed red haired lady wasn’t there, I’m sure it would’ve been a pleasant experience. Hopefully they’ll reconsider staff. Guess my friends and I won’t be coming back.

Really unique place. It’s like being at some sort of laid back house party. Tons of little nooks and areas to hang out. Some games, some couches, but mostly all very chill. Drinks have been decent, and usually good beers on tap. Nothing super fun about the joint, but a good place to take a group of people to hang out and drink.

This place has such a unique/cozy/funky/atmosphere. Multiple rooms, lots to do(pool, board games, ping pong, old skoo video games) and some outdoor seating. They’ve only been open 3 months, but come this summer it will blow up. Limited food, but decent drinks. This is a great place to hang with friends. Free pool every day until 7pm! I’ll be back for sure.

A bar with Hershey’s kisses for all to eat. Can’t go wrong with free chocolate. Am I right? It was a good night to head out for a drink, we were actually looking for just a hole-in-the wall place and according to my brother, the older version of this place was just that. This place was not. Much better than expected. It most likely is an old house that they converted to the current establishment. Ping-Pong, pool, and some video games and plenty of places to sit your ass down our just belly up to the bar, you never know who you might meet there. We found a fellow East Coaster(from Jersey as well) Good selection of beer and the bar looked well stocked(see my picture) I will find my way back.

Ah. The Nest. Used to hang out fairly often(for me at least) at the old Nest on Alberta as a friend of mine was pretty much a regular there. That place was a dive. This Nest is not quite your father’s Nest. It is a new Nest. A Nest for the kids. Bartenders were friendly. Drinks were good and definitely on the inexpensive side. Beers were $ 4, Dark and Stormy’s were $ 6. They had Hershey’s kisses on the bar for everyone who wanted them. Cozy space. Ping pong downstairs. Pool and video games upstairs. Should be a good addition to the neighborhood.
