At the previous site of True Brew, The Bowery Commons is a gutted version of the previously secluded coffee house. I used to love walking in the back of the used bookstore to get my coffee. Now the place is very open with added seating. The biggest change comes with the addition of beer. I was happy to see the exclusion of PBR and inclusion of Alameda El Torero IPA. In short, I will miss the previous ambiance but the addition of good beer may cause me to take a walk to this neighborhood joint.

I gotta say, I was pretty sad when True Brew’s hours were cut back to 1:30 every day. But once I learned that it was because they were transforming the space into bar with yummy dinners and later hours, I was thrilled. The staff is pleasant, the pastries are awesome and the food in tasty. Very convenient. Real world prices. Great place to have meetups, meetings, drawing sessions or if you just want a place to grab some food. A welcome«addition» to the Brooklyn neighborhood.
