Your typical asian market. Smells a little, but again… typical asian market! Their snack section is pretty small though. The market is larger than it appears from the outside. Upon entering you will notice meats to your right and veggies to your left. Their fresh longan is pretty expensive, but super delicious. They blast Vietnamese music from a youtube site. I can tell because there is a gigantic screen behind the counter that shows what song is currently playing. But other than that, not much else to say about this typical asian store

Premium champagne mango beginning season. On sale a lots stuff in side the market. Cheap shrimps, chicken wings, pork spare rib. Beef short rib .

See check-​in comment — I’m here well before closing (20+ minutes), and the place is closed. Guess it’ll have to be Hong Phat or Fubonn from now on. Disappointed :-(

I’ve been to this store many times over the last 10 years as it is my neighborhood asian market, however, it has gone through some new management over the years and I’ve been extremely disappointed with the freshness of their food over the last few months. On numerous occasions I’ve bought fresh noodles only to find mold at the bottom of the package, broccoli crowns that were yellow, and very freeze dried shrimp. I will no longer buy any fresh stuff from them and will only stick to dried or packaged foods. Too bad for me because none of the other markets on Sandy are much better and they were so convenient.

Very disappointed at the produce selection here. We don’t come to this store often, we usually goto Hong Phat but since this was on the way home, it was convenient. Most of the vegetables looked old and there wasn’t much to pick from. Not sure if we came at a bad time but you would think they would have restocked for the weekend since we came on a Friday morning. We were in a hurry so we picked the best looking baby bok choy and lemon grass. Came home to cook for a sick household and had to end up throwing away most of the produce. Not sure how hard it is to have fresh bok choy? Anyway, next time we will stick to Hong Phat for our produce selection.

I would say this place is 4 stars if you live close by. It’s a small place with a lot of the basic Asian items. If you don’t live close by, you might as well just go to Fubonn instead.

If your just looking for your basic Asian produce, this market has a good and fresh selection. Nice run to market for those living in inner northeast, (if you don’t have the time to trek out to Fubonn).
Has a parking lot, visible from Sandy. They had asian pears and papaya, (not bruised up raggedy looking fruit, fresh and nice!).
I found a new Asian market and will be back here for my produce!

Whenever we pass here, and we’re craving something Asian to fix, specially fresh papayas, fresh coconuts, raw peanuts, breads, Manila mangoes, green mangoes, persimmons, pineapples, WE STOP here!
They have a variety of frozen fish, and fresh meats. They’ve rearranged things, for the better! They’re also friendly, and I like that. They also give Asian calendars!

WTF dude?! You sold me spoiled meat! I’ve just 86’d myself from their meat department. I should have told them about it, but I should have known something was up when there was barely any meat in the case to begin with. I’m not going to lie, I’ll be back for my pantry needs and fresh veggies, but I’m going to avoid their meat like the plague. I’ll have to head across the street to Sandy Market and see how they’re holding up under the new ownership and all. *sighs* Why is it so hard to find some good pork belly around here?! Do I have to huff it up all the way to Fubonn?

Fresh tofu, veggies & fruits… Oh my!

Yesss!!! Months (seems like forever) of waiting and my neighborhood Asian market has re-​opened! It’s new management, brighter, wider aisles. I don’t like the increased use of styrofoam in the vegetable section but I am glad it’s re-​opened.
Now I can hop on the bike, ride the new Klickitat Bike Boulevard over for great meats, Vietnamese deli, fresh veg, fresh noodles and all those indescribable condiments.
Yeah! Thanh Thao returns!!!

I love this market! It suits all of my needs. If I feel like cooking up some fresh spring rolls, Chinese sticky rice, Thai red curry, or Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, I can find all of my goods here for a reasonable price. Also, they have delicious fresh fruit and a hot deli and desserts that I love to get when I can’t go home across the country for my parents’ cooking. So good! Writing this review makes me want to go there RIGHT NOW.

Thanh Thao’s prices are slightly higher than Nam Phuong Market down the street. But they have a more extensive produce section and more bulk items. They also apparently serve hot food to go, but from the looks of it this is more a lunchtime offering, as I got there late in the afternoon and there were slim pickings under the food lamp box.
Still it is really close to my house, I can see their neon lights from my window. I will be back and will try to report about what hot foods are available during peak times.

This market is great if you want fresh fruits and vegetable. There’s everything you can ask for in a tiny space. It’s alway clean and service is approachable.
If you can’t cook or want to go to a restaurant, try their pre-​cooked food, dessert.
The price is comparable to other Asian grocery store, and they always display the fruit of the season.

I’m a faithful Fubonn shopper, but sometimes I don’t have the time to wander the isles and search for a parking spot.
Enter, Thanh Thao market.
This place is like the size of a 7 – 11, but chock full of Asian goodies.
They have huge bricks of deep fried tofu for pretty cheap, and the fruit section is awesome.
I have yet to get something from the deli counter, but it all looked pretty good.

I wanted to make sticky rice, but I didn’t have the proper steamer, or the right kind of rice. Thanh Thao had both, at great prices, and I didn’t have to drive all the way to Uwajimaya. Awesome place!

I love this market. The only Asian market in Portland where they serve Hot Food Deli that’s pretty close to what I ate when I lived in Indonesia. Same with the dessert deli section. Sweet Banana in coconut milk *oh my goodness*.
They also have jackfruits, longans, durians, lychees and all of them are fresh! Yes fresh! It’s pretty rare to find them not frozen in Asian market in Portland.
So if you are craving for weird but tasty Asian deli, you should stop by here. It’s not weird for me, but it might be weird for you. It tasty for me and it will be tasty for you too. :)

We LOVE this market on NE Sandy in «Little Saigon».
FRESH TOFU! finally we are saved from having to buy our tofu in sealed water baths where it turns sour– ick!
The fresh tofu is delicious, available wrapped on plastic trays (too bad)– and the fried tofu –known as age in Japan — (pronounced ah-​gay) — is also great.

there are loads of other essential items for Asian cooking here– many soy sauces, dried fungi, bean pastes, teas, fresh and dried noodles, rice, wrappers, snacks, cookies as well as a full fish and meat counter.

Best priced whole fresh duck in town on Fridays when they come in.

This is the one place where I feel belong (viet student far away from home). Last time I went they had fresh dragon fruits & rambutan (reddish & hairy fruit on the outside but has a white flesh inside like lychee). The fishes r not that fresh but everything else is good. The workers r so nice. They get 5 ***** for friendliness. They also sell precooked food like banh cuon (rice silk noodle) & banh beo (circular rice cake w/​shrimp & mung bean as toppings).
I saw bbq & special banh bao/​hum bao (dough on outside w/​meat filling). The word special made me think of some chinese movie where the filling was human meat. Hahaha don’t be scare. I don’t think they do that here. Check it out if you want to eat some viet food.
